The genre of player with unrequited interest in Michigan. Unlikely to receive offers; most will eventually fade off the list and go to Duke or |
|
Nefarious Eduardo | Player is a longshot. Either they've declared someone else a leader publicly or popular opinion holds that they're likely to go to another school.
Data | Either no opinion or Michigan is one of a fairly even group of chasing schools. Players in this category maintain no leader or change their leader frequently. The default category for players that we don't know much about yet.
Happy Teeth | Players who have Michigan in a small leading group or have Michigan as a tenuous favorite. Should be regarded as a good shot, not a slam dunk.
Mr. Blue | Player is either a verbal or is expected to be one sooner or later. Players with this designation are 65%+ to be Michigan commits. |

any updates on this kid?
I know he was all but blue when the season started, he cooled off but mentioned something about Harbaugh being a game changer.
a 6'5 300lb athletic lineman would be nice to have.

Go!, Ducks!
January 11th, 2015 at 2:35 PM ^
Apparently osu has already won as they have NC shirts already made in Columbus. Talk about jinxing yourself! Remember your history-Dewey defeats Truman premature newspaper headline?
How about this scenario-bucky is ranked #1 in the fall while Michigan starts the season unranked but steadily with each passing week climbs the rankings then 2weeks before THE GAME 5 top ten team's go down and MIchigan vaults to #2. The bucks come to AA with all the marbles on the line and what happens? Go look up the 1969 game if you don't think it's gonna happen. Don't believe that kinder gentler urban meyer bs either. It's been easy-peasy with the big ten and Bucky playing the underdog role. Being the favourite with everybody gunning for you is another thing altogether-just ask SEC west teams and bama!

I have my eyes on #3 and #6 for the shots and mention few things.

Who are you? asked nobody on the MGoBlog, ever.
Since you won't be around here much, or for long, I won't pay you any mind.

when your team is playing in the National Championship Game tonight? If you're going to troll, go troll Oregon blogs!
You actually have something to cheer for tonight, yet you're sitting on MgoBlog. The only thing you're contributing to here is the overwhelming opinion your fan base is crass! You do not have any class and I'd be surprised if you've attended one [class-less]

The App State loss was. . . 8 years ago. Coinciding with a period in your program's history for which you've forfeited games for rampant violations of the NCAA rulebook, the same rulebook we all agree to be bound by for competetive purposes. When a school --such as Ohio State-- flagrantly and repeatedly violates those rules, thereby benefiting from that violation via better recruiting and happier athletes (who are getting improper benefits; see, e.g., Terrelle Pryor's multiple 300+ mile "test drives" in cars owned by dealerships). Thus, by doing that, you devalue all accomplishments because you had to cheat to win, and for all anyone knows, it was that marginal increase in talent caused by the cheating that gave you the "edge" you needed to win certain games.
TL; DR: App State was many years ago; glass houses; STFU.
Also, nice use of punctuation (not really).

January 11th, 2015 at 2:11 AM ^
We have some terrific players on that list. I think we have a number of them where we have a good shot like John Kelly, Mike Weber, Clark and maybe Moorman the OL.
If Harbo and staff can nail 2 - 3 of the big names on the list it would be great.
I would love to see Wheatly Jr come here. I'm not sure if we would use him at TE or DE. If we get Clark and Wheatly if would be crazy.
January 11th, 2015 at 2:20 AM ^
Based on position needs and his body if Wheatley comes I doubt it is as a TE. He has Butt, Bunting, Hill and Clark ahead of him (that is not even discussing Heitzman and Williams which a year from now will be out of the picture). And we have massive needs at DE with limits spots in this class. And if he is truly already 260 lbs at 17 years old I dont see him slimming down to 250ish over the next 3 years to be a TE, sounds more like a 275 DE down the road.
January 11th, 2015 at 5:52 AM ^
I don't really see Wheatley as a TE. First, I think he's more impressive as a DE. Second, he's not really needed at that position. Third, I don't think he fits what Harbaugh wants in a TE, which is basically a west coast tight end who can stretch the field a little bit.

At one point he said he would commit to Michigan if his dad got hired. Granted, that wasn't extremely recently, but that doesn't sound like a kid who's extremely eager to get away from his dad.

January 11th, 2015 at 2:18 AM ^
Wheatly has a mean poker face - if you take his comments or lack thereof at face value I would not consider Michigan a favorite. Maybe he wants to play with dad on the staff - maybe he wants to do his own thing.
I do think UM can quickly become the favorite for Lewis again. He seemed like he wanted to commit post BBQ.
Arnette feels like a guy who if offered would commit.
January 11th, 2015 at 5:50 AM ^
Arnette has been reported as having an offer...
January 11th, 2015 at 5:59 AM ^
without an offer.

How about Jeff Christian? - 3 star Decommit from Purdue....
January 12th, 2015 at 1:42 PM ^
I haven't seen anything that Michigan is interested in him right now. That may change.
January 11th, 2015 at 8:06 AM ^
Cool beans. With his decommitment recently it just "feels" like he is headed here. But we'll see. Looks like he has trips to OSU and South Carolina (again) on his list.
January 11th, 2015 at 2:23 PM ^
and I think he has an entirely different view than you. He didn't say it's a gut feeling but father and son are very close and he also loves Michigan. Sam implied that he feels there is a very good chance he ends up here.
The main thing is getting him here for a visit which shouldn't be too hard considering his father is here.
January 11th, 2015 at 5:26 AM ^
thank you- will be fun to keep up with over the next few weeks
January 11th, 2015 at 6:05 AM ^
If there is any easy way to show which players are already committed elsewhere, I think that would be helpful. Maybe brackets around the school name or something.
January 11th, 2015 at 6:25 AM ^
A sort by interest rather than by rating would be more useful. Their interest in committing is more relevant than their rating.
January 11th, 2015 at 6:50 AM ^
Sorting by interest is kind of difficult with something like this, IMO. The coaches just got hired (or are still being hired), it's a dead period, nobody has met Harbaugh yet, etc. Most of these guys have basically confirmed visits or have said they want to visit in the next month, with the exception of Wheatley, who has been to Ann Arbor and whose dad just got hired.
January 11th, 2015 at 2:25 PM ^
along with the visits that are scheduled, things will move quickly. I don't think there will be time to shuffle the list because we may not know exactly where some of these guys stand.
January 11th, 2015 at 12:40 PM ^
Done - I bolded the school name for committed players.
January 11th, 2015 at 6:31 AM ^
I'd be happy with KLS and convincing Wheatley Jr to play DE. Wouldhelp out the depth chart in 2016.

I've been watching high school football for many, many years and Andrew David is the BEST high school kicker I have ever seen by far.
Plus, every kick off I saw went far out of the end zone.
January 11th, 2015 at 8:33 AM ^
Hope Andrew David is a good you say. With Matt Wile graduating, we have no kickers on the team with game experience. The kicking game can make the difference between winning and losing in at least one to two games a season.
In terms of available scholarships, one of the scholarships could go to the winner of the punting competition.
January 12th, 2015 at 12:44 PM ^
An old roommate of mine played at Massillion and knows him and his family very well. He's always been a wolverine fan. But my friend concurs that he's a spectacular kicker. And just in time for us!
