I hope he winds up doing exactly what Red did.

Didnt Jim look like 5 years younger than the last days in San Fran? Maybe it was just the new haircut but man stress and being exasperated can really age you.
He looked so damn happy today, beaming, like a prideful dad man.
I know mentally he is our coach and have believed it would happen for over a month now (GGG!) but damn, it just hasn't registered on some level this is true.

He had alot of emotions during the Press Conference. Part of the reason I think we all believed so much he would come home to AA was his love for the U of M.
Something the NFL guys could never understand, they have never been in his shoes. Others have and understand his Michigan Pride and Love. Jim is bringing back some passion and enthusiasim to FOOTBALL.
Love to see him and his family have a home in AA for has long as they want to stay, hopefully a very long time.

I've had this shitty grin on my face that I just can't seem to get rid of or even want to
We are going to be good right away folks, right away, make no mistake about it, we hit the coaching lottery.
I loved the humility he showed regarding past comments he made like the OSU guarantee in '86 and the admissions differences between Stanford and U-M, he handled that really well.

Very excited for this kid...he has an MGoBlog level obsession for Michigan. Love it.

...looks real good. As a RS Freshman too.
Why can't we have sweet RS Freshman QBs?
December 30th, 2014 at 8:58 PM ^
Maybe we will now that Harbaugh is here. I wouldn't be surprised to see significant improvement in all of them by next year.

Got lost in the threads last night but I posted some comments on Harbaugh Stanford recruiting. Every year but 1 he recruited 2 QBs. So 7 in 4 years. I love that. QBs might not love it due to the extreme competition but contrast to "Yes Shane come here and we wont even recruit another QB to compete with you in the FOLLOWING Year" which is dumb as hell.
This is the most important position in sport. Jim widens the pool by taking an extra one every year or most every year. Over time the lower ones will transfer - it is what it is. But your chances of hittting a triple or home run open. I never understood taking a 21st guy who would be at best a ST player in lieu of a 2nd QB most (not all) years. I want as many "lottery tickets" at that position as possible.
And Jim can get away with recruiting 2 a year even more so now than at Stanford because they will be dying to be with the QB whisperer.
Doubt we have a 2nd this year since we are so late in the process and only 15-16 spots but I bet we get 2 next year and most years go forward.

What are the thoughts on Under the Lights now that Brandon is gone? Do you think Hackett will carry on and schedule one for this year?
December 30th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Why not have a night game? The lights are there, might as well use them. Not to mention that one of the most epic moments in Michigan football happened at a "UTL" event.
Just because the dude sucked at being an AD doesn't mean EVERY SINGLE idea he had, sucked. Maybe stop numbering it, but is anyone really adamantly opposed to night games besides really old people?
December 30th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Yes UTL and paying football coaches market value (although Hackett got Harbaugh way below market value) are 2 things Brandon did right and should be kept. Everything else he did can be erased from history.
December 30th, 2014 at 9:19 PM ^
I hope that stays...the old way of thinking "yes it's old, but this is where (insert historical name) stood/coached/played/etc" is outdated.
We have to build new. No longer can you have old shit and call it classic and expect recruits to care.

Man, for anyone who didn't see Saban's comments on Harbaugh, coaching in the NFL vs college, and random other crap..... really worth checking it out on espn's website
He laid it out almost to a tee why the NFL might not be as appealing as people keep making it out to be. Actually did a damn fine job, and said a lot of positive stuff about Michigan and Supreme Commander Harbaugh.
Kind of seemed like a big "FU" to espn and the NFL deniers.
December 30th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
Well, Saban has a vested interest in down playing the NFL a little bit. I wonder what Pete Carroll would have to say on the matter. Or really, even Jim himself. He avoided talking about the NFL, with good reason. I don't see the huge difference in merit between coaching in college and the pros, but it was obviously a storyline this December. Would Jim have come here if he had management like the Kraft family?

Michigan wins in OT, 73-65, UM hockey wins GLI for first time since 2011, Harbaugh is head coach. UM fans should not complain today.

Saw the WVU- Texas A&M highlights. How much of a bonehead can you be as a member of the coaching staff to not once, but twice, hit another team's player on the sideline. Fired at halftime.
