I took it to mean he doesn't want the athletic dpeartment trying to undermine or strongarm the academic side of things. No problems there. He is looking for an AD who will uphold the integrity of UM academics, a trait that is great to have. I also think this makes Manuel look really good. He not only has highly competitive UConn basketball programs, but he has been through a football hire, and he led the basketball program back from academic inelligibility left by his predecessor.

I'll take those odds. Still can't believe a 7-5 season would convince anyone of progress being made and that they would keep Hoke.

My only must have is that Michigan starts at the top and tries everything it can to hire the best coach. If Harbuaghs say no, throw every effort into the next best coach, and so on. I don't want to hear that our new AD had some dude in mind and didn't even call the best options.

I called and the rep had to unlock my account from their end. I don't know what was causing the conference games to not show up.

Firing him while students are on campus may cause celebretory rioting. Better to wait till winter break when campus is dead.

I heard he already took several ethics classes at UNC.

I am guessing all this culminates in an attendance of 90,000 this weekend.....anounced as 104,500 of course.

The only thing better would have been if he included corporate sponsorship in his bitter replies.
"Chobani says go fuck yourself. Have a nice life."
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Simple answer||
Simple answer is because he deserves to be fired now. Team makes no progress. Even promoting from within might correct this. I am not expecting miracles, but I'd like to see if someone on this staff could make improvements or if the entire team is rotten.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Sorry||
Sorry, but I would see Hoke being fired before the end of the season as a sign Brandon is staying. Why let him make that decison if he is going to be leaving himself?

$25 a game is fair in my book. I hope the student section is packed next year to show that these efforts are effective.

It clearly revolves around Brandon. Much too early to be about coaching. If I had to guess, I'd say it's an email from a regent about Brandon.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Yes, in the short term||
As things stand now, they could. The BIG is down as a whole, so MSU and UM could both recruit well in the next 5-10 years. If teams like Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota make improvements (or maintain in the case of Minny) then the likelihood of MSU and UM having sustained success decreases. Doesn't matter who the next UM coach is, UM won't be able to consistently recruit nationally until there is sustained success on the field.

I don't think any of the big 3 would listen to Brandon....but if he managed to get a Harbaugh/Miles in Ann Arbor I think he would be given a few more years. That's assuming that he contiues to try and win back the good will of the students.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||I think the point is that||
I think the point is that rather than implement stricter security and keep people off the field and/or instal the collapsable goal posts in the future he let the fans pay for it so that they may be able to enjoy a huge win in the future.

Can't imagine his agent is going to be in a rush to handle his new contract after this. It's also very unprofessional that ESPN is paying you and you are wasting time complaining about not having a contract.

I'm not the person that should come forth with anything to the media, but lets just say "concussion" may as well be a 4-letter word these days.

For what it's worth, John U Bacon was on several call in shows this morning and he still believes that if Brandon goes our next coach will be named Miles or Harbaugh.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Here is mine||
Dear President Schlissel,
I have been a Michigan fan my entire life even though I grew up in Georgia. No one in my family had any connection to UM, but I fell in love with the Michigan teams I grew up watching. When I finished college I was ecstatic to receive a position here at the UM medical center in the Neurology department. I've spent the last 4 years studying the effects of neurological disorders. What Dave Brandon tried to accomplish yesterday is appalling. A man who is supposed to be the head of Michigan athletics had a chance to come out and admit all the shortcomings in the Shane Morris incident. Instead he spent the entire day trying to convince the respected physicians who work with Michigan athletics that they should lie about a student athletes' medical condition. That anyone would do such a thing is disgusting, but there are no words for when that person is being paid millions of dollars to represent Michigan. I call on you to please have the courage to break ties with the cancer that is Dave Brandon, so that one day we can all be proud of our University again.

I heard you had eggs for breakfast, I would like to inform you that given the unease in the blogosphere, oatmeal would have been a better choice. Please inform us why you would make such a tactical breakfast error in these most dire of times.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Sadly if he makes it to the||
Sadly if he makes it to the end of the season he won't be let go before January. At that point it would be silly to fire him and not save the $1 million. He will be fired before Friday or after the new year.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Schlissel||
I encourage everyone to please take a moment and contact President Schlissel and explain your connection to the University. Explain why you refuse to be associated with a University that would employ Dave Brandon. A man that is being paid millions of dollars to try and get highly accomplished and respected medical personnel to lie for his own personal gain.
Email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Office phone is 734-764-6270
I promise Brandon won't make it a week if people do this.

Everyone knows that no concussion testing was done before DG's hemet came off. They are desperately searching for an explanation that limits the liability of those involved. Once they decide on a course of action the report will come out.

The game is sold out, they already have our money. Not showing up won't help anything. I like the idea of a red protests... it also serves to show we support the players but not the administration.

As someone in the medical field, I am looking to forward to the revolutionary proceedures the Michigan medical staff has developed to diagnose potential brain injuries while the player is still on the field.
