to feel uneasy until Harbaugh or Hackett make the announcement themselves. Christ, just make the announcement already!!!!! Sign the contract!

It's a headfake, so we don't have people camping out at all the regional airports Monday.

I agree. This is not news I want to hear, but if true, it is important news and good for the OP posting.

No one cares if a random user doesn't believe this. Just because you think that the Raiders leaked this because it's more convenient for you that way doesn't meant it's true. It doesn't mean Harbaugh is taking the Raiders job, but the to immediately say it's untrue and ask for the thread to be deleted is sad.
And he's there's no link or report, but if OP is correct, you can find it on twitter easily. If were gonna leave stories about talking to DJ Durkin's cousin at a gym as a viable thread, then this sure as hell needs to be left up

@NinersNation: Sorry, Sirius. Because nobody else has said a word about it
@NinersNation: Pretty sure that Sirius report is BS. 49ers can’t grant permission to Raiders till after season http://t.co/RmFSM7KzWh

I've been texting my Raiders friends the last few days and I'm surprised most of them say they don't want him. I don't get it.

I have one Raiders friend that doesn't want him and the other told me yesterday that I should "keep dreaming and throw in a prayer or two" about Harbaugh coaching UM (both Buckeye fans actually).
Want to rub it in his face so bad, its killing me.

for the 49ers to trade them Harbaugh, but Jim could just say hell no to a Raiders trade. I just don't see the 49ers giving the Raiders permission to talk to JH!

pro-Michigan Harbaugh news, it must not be true ;)

I actually tweeted this info to Gregg Henson last night. I did hear it on Sirius College Sports Nation channel 91. It was reported on an update around 11 last night. It was the first I had heard all day about the Raiders talking to JH. I tweeted to Henson figuring if he didn't hear about it, then maybe he could find something out. I DID NOT report it as fact as in "the Raiders are definately talking to JH!" Just tweeted what I heard. Obviously, others heard it too. Personally, I believe it is a done deal to UM, just more national media CYA. FWIW, on my way home last night I also listened to the NFL Network radio and Gil Brandt was on. The topic of JH never really was discussed at length, other than a few casual "wherever Jim Harbaugh ends up next year, whether it's Michigan or some NFL team". It seemed like Brandt was avoiding any JH talk.

Google search "49ers give permission for Harbaugh to speak to raiders" and we, the good citizens of MGoBlog are the first, last and only hit you'll see.
We are now creating our own rumors and then perpetuating them when they bounce back to us because we are considered a viable source of information.

It's just a bad idea to downvote every time the news is something you don't like. Like this OP, which obviously has information that is of interest to the board, but nonetheless is getting shelled, presumably just because the news is bad. Of course we've seen this over and over the last few weeks.
Discouraging people from posting information like this while encouraging every "IT'S HAPPENING!" thread regardless of quality can only lead to bias and a less accurate view of the external world. Please don't do this! Cheers.
(and yes, it's happening)

As I read the line that nikj wrote, "that's tampering and the league should investigate", it occurred to me that the NFL in this case may tend to overlook a little tampering since they are essentially competing with the NCAA. I'm not naive enough to rule out them even arranging a meeting.
I don't want to have these thoughts...I want him to parachute in to the Big House. But it is what it is. It's still Jim's decision.

The NFL owners take tampering pretty seriously. Hypothetically, if the Jets and/or Chicago are also interested in Harbaugh, why should Oakland get to bend the rules to negotiate with Harbaugh exclusively during the season (or get first rights to it). The anti-tampering rules are really there to keep the playing field level and the standard penalty seems to be draft picks forfeited to the team that was tampered with. I think this one would be a third or fourth rounder to the 49ers with swapping of the teams first or second round picks. That would be a huge price to pay for just not to waiting 48 hours to ask permission to talk with Harbaugh.
