CC-Call Your Shot
I thought this would be a fun way to waste some time today while at work.
Since it appears as though Brady "Nice Guys finnish* last" Hoke is going to be canned today, we should all throw our chips down on the table and declare who we think the next head coach, OC, and DC at Michigan is going to be.
My money:
HC: Tom Herman
OC: Lincoln Riley (No connection here; just a good coach)
DC: Chris Ash (Coached with Herman at Iowa State, OSU)
*I know, I know. Wan hek ov uh mis pelling.

HC: Hologram Bo
OC: Bo Impersonator
DC: Bo Duke

December 2nd, 2014 at 9:06 AM ^
OC: Tyrone Wheatley
(RB Coach: Mike Hart)
DC: Bo Pelini
Miles readies Wheatley as the next HC.

As long as Hoke, Funk and Jackson are gone I'll be happy.
Almost as big as HC, we need to have a dedicated QB coach!!!

We need a dedicated QB coach, I couldn't agree more.
What about Todd Collins he was basically a QB coach for 15 years in the NFL.

As an OC - NO
He was the reason we were QB U for a while there. I was sad to see him go, VT's offense hasn't exactly been lighting it up...
The good ole boy in me wouldnt be opposed to giving him a very short leash at OC...

What I think will happen:
HC: Les Miles
OC: Cam Cameron (please no)
DC: Bo Pelini
What I want:
HC: Jim or John
OC: something no huddle
DC: Muschamp or Pelini
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:20 AM ^
HC: Gordan (pronounced Gor-DON) Bombay
OC: Charlie Conway
DC: Fulton Reed and Dean Portman (The Bash Brothers)
If anything, Michigan will have the patented Flying V (TM) on kick and punt returns. Conway was never a good player, always a much brighter offensive mind. Our red zone defense will be Reed and Portman coming out of the press box and smashing opposing teams to pieces!

I'll go with about 100 of that "EZ" stuff. This stuff is gauranteed to provide immediate relief from losing records.

Not my choice but I think this is best we do.
Hoping for Harbaugh or Les.

I've seen lots of names in the past few months, but do not recall seeing anything regarding Jim Tressel. Before everyone starts screaming, think about what he would bring to the table. the first thing I think of when I think Jim Tressel is his Red "Ohio" vest, but I also think of someone who dominated the Big 10 for a long time and won Big 10 championships not to mention went to title games. While I despised him for all of those years, I did respect what he accomplished. He runs a great version of the spread which has proven to be successful even before it was what it is today across college football. He also has great ties to the Midwest. I'm not sure Hackett could swallow his pride enough to hire a former Ohio St. coach, but it's certainly happened before and think of how that turned out (Bo of course). I would love to see him sporting a Blue vest with a hugh block M. Thought?

I would love OP to be right so we can hire Bo or Muschamp at DC. I'd trade Herman and Ash for [generic OC] and Muschamp in 2.5 seconds.

buckeyejonross. You have no idea how good you have it, in the championship game at 10-1. No idea. The grass is not greener.

Its going to be Harbaugh. Its all setting up too perfectly. His weird press conference yesterday, not wearing a SF hat, returning home to save Michigan.
December 2nd, 2014 at 9:48 AM ^
I think they will pursue Jim Harbaugh or are currently pursuing. I think it's possible they may already know his feeling on the position one way or the other. I don't feel he is a lock, not by a long shot. I think Les Miles has the highest chance of being the next coach. They will not hire a coordinator or a hot name. They will hire a proven and successful head coach. They will not be able to find a guy with a better resume than Les Miles unless it's a someone like Bob Stoops or another NFL guy.

HC - Brady Hoke
OC - Nuss
DC - Mattison

Can you imagine how much this blog would freak out if we hired Jim Harbaugh as head coach, and he hired Stitt as his OC?
December 2nd, 2014 at 10:06 AM ^
I don't see the stars aligning that way like a lot of you do. I have a lingering suspicion that Schissel would not approve the hire of Les Miles because he doesn't want to appear to be giving his stamp of approval to the SEC brand of football; it's not the "balance" he's been talking about.
I'll really have no idea who it will be. I hope for Jim Harbaugh, and think he may actually be more likely than any other single candidate, but even then I see only a 15% chance. It's more likely to be a Plan C guy; maybe Butch Davis or Chuck Martin. My dark Horse Plan B candidates are Mark Richt or Chris Peterson; don't know if they would make the move but would both be good choices. Hopefully NOT Schiano.
Would love to see Bob Stitt as OC and Bo Pelini as DC.

Hoke showed us he can win with a veteran group. Let's see what he can do with them.

Typically, a HC from a lower level FBS, middle of the road P5/AQ, or big name coordinator lands the gig.
So I could easily see UM bringing in a Chuck Martin or McElwain type and I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

First choice would be JH but I dont think its gonna happen. I think for better or worse its Les. In another coaching search I just saw that RR's name came up as a candidate to replace Pelini at Neb. Wouldn't that be fun.
