(12) Villanova vs (19) Michigan @ 10PM on ESPN2
Get your excuses for Wednesday morning ready this could be a real late one
November 25th, 2014 at 12:37 AM ^
With the ranking released today, Michigan is #19 for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
Tomorrow will be the first time Michigan has played a current-Big East team since the 2009 Old Spice Classic against Marquette.
A little extra note, this is the third consecutive year that Michigan is in the championship game of their early season tournament.

game was rough. I remember being irrationally mad we didn't win that game.
November 25th, 2014 at 1:19 AM ^
That whole season was rough. That game felt like (and was) a foreshadowing of things to come. In retrospect that Marquette squad had some serious ballers though.
November 25th, 2014 at 12:52 AM ^
Not knocking you, but its inarguably pretty weird that you know that #19 stat.

yay, great start time for those of us on the west coast!
November 25th, 2014 at 12:41 AM ^
Cool, i've been hoping for #19 just about ever since '97. Damn that #2 crap 2 years ago...

You forgot we are playing in the "Progessive Legends Classic" and that there is a "Consolation Game" that has to occur beforehand at the Barclays Center, which is putting on this shindig. That's at 7:30pm on ESPNU, with our game to follow at 10pm on the Deuce.
November 25th, 2014 at 3:16 PM ^
So for 80% of the country*, the best primetime slot goes to the consolation game. Odd.
*(47% of the population lives in the Eastern timezone and 33% in the Central.)

I am not a geezer...and I'm not working on Wednesday. That means I don't give a damn how late the game is. Bring on the weekend, bitches.

Once you're into full blown geezerhood, a late game like this works quite well if you want to just watch the second half. That's about the time we wake up to pee and walk around the house muttering to ourselves anyway.

Maybe you've never lived in New York. 10 PM in the city is like 7 pm a lot of other places. Also, people order breakfast delivered to their apartments.
November 25th, 2014 at 9:11 AM ^
If we've learned anything from the past few years of conference realignment, TV is all that matters, so the fact that it's in NYC is irrelevant. I can't imagine they are going to get much viewership with a broadcast that will end after midnight.

I'll be happy with a win against this Nova.

That's assuming their airplane allows for cell phone service. Or alternatively, he could carry on practice conversations with a houseplant, to practice his wit and repoire pre-arrival.

that is all.

I have the perfect excuse as I took Wednesday off anyway, although now with the wind damage all over the place here, I may have to work at least a portion of it. Fortunately, I can arrange it so that this portion does not coincide with basketball. I have not been as fortunate with football this year, missing parts of two games due to my storm assignment.

I won't stay up to watch it. That's too late. Like college basketball fans have nothing else to do?

I'm supposed to be at work by 730, but the boss is leaving this afternoon and won't be here the rest of the week. Late show time it is!
November 25th, 2014 at 9:50 AM ^
100% my plan. Same situation. Boss won't be here tomorrow so who cares?

Why does the mothership show us no respect?

No excuses necessary. I'm a teacher. No school on Wednesday.
If I had an appropriate Ha-Ha nelson.gif handy I'd post it.
On the other hand my 10 month old son wouldn't let me sleep either late at night or early in the morning anyway, so...

I know it's early in the season, but this team is so young that a win over #12 Villanova could really be a positive catapult for the entire season. A loss, while not monumental, would mean we still have a ways to go (which I think most of us already know.) Hopefully the youngsters can get the job done and take a major step forward.
November 25th, 2014 at 9:54 AM ^
I'm flying back to Michigan this afternoon, so this will be a nice family-friendly end to the first night home.
November 25th, 2014 at 10:15 AM ^
WD, I need your Michigan clothing powers.
Can you please provide a link to Michigan Tennis warmups?
November 25th, 2014 at 10:46 AM ^
Villanova looked really good in dismantling VCU and will finish the year very high. If MIchigan wins, it will be a great notch on the resume, but a loss here wouldn't be bad. Michigan has already accomplished a passing grade for coming to Barclay's (solid win over Oregon, opportunity for another game against a highly-ranked opponent) and a win tonight would just be icing.
Having said that, I really hope we can pull it off! Kam is going to need to have a big game.
November 25th, 2014 at 11:14 AM ^
at this year's team. Pretty darn excited about it. Hopefully I don't jinx them. I've been known.
November 25th, 2014 at 12:46 PM ^
I'll happily sleep in to support this basketball team. I'm excited by the prospects of this season.
