Les Miles asked about Michigan at his Monday presser.
Q. And whether you're interested or not, at this point, when there is a job opening at Michigan, do you just expect to hear from them giving your ties to Michigan and your success here?
COACH MILES: Yeah, I have given little or no thought to any other jobs. I am so comfortable with my team and doing what I'm doing. I do not read the paper. I certainly respect and love Michigan and wish them the very best.
Q. Do you take it as a compliment when you are connected with another job?
COACH MILES: I don't really look at it as a compliment or not. Again, I haven't read a newspaper in a month, just so you know. It's hard for me to tell you what the record of other schools are. I just kind of enjoy going to work and getting it done. I need to correct that. I do read the newspaper. Just not the sports section. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2014/11/full_transcript_of_lsu_coach_… Edit: sorry if this is not thread worthy, but it seemed better than x,y,z CC thread. Mods please delete if this is not thread worthy.

huh. Thread worthy for sure.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:11 PM ^
Yeah, I'm having a hard time believing that Les Miles reads his daily newspaper but just doesn't quite get to the sports section.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:14 PM ^
He reads the funny pages. And once tried to eat the crossword.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:48 PM ^
He ate that shit like a MAN.
November 25th, 2014 at 10:25 AM ^
He was full after eating the Food section and an ad for Scott's.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:12 PM ^
...or if you're trying to say it's an issue that Miles doesn't read the paper, like how Hoke doesn't wear a headset.
But sweet quote/thread/post.
November 24th, 2014 at 6:04 PM ^
...to know if he reads blogs.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:12 PM ^
but does he use email?
November 24th, 2014 at 4:12 PM ^
He may not read a newspaper, but has he heard of the internet - Al Gore invented it...
November 24th, 2014 at 4:49 PM ^
Way to not campaign in West Virginia, jerk.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:14 PM ^
If he had invoked "The Team, the team, the team" speech, like Harbaugh did, I would have thought we have a contest here.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:14 PM ^
Im sure he doesnt need a newspaper for him to know exactly where things stand with his alma mater.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:18 PM ^
He said "The Team. The Team. The Team." (2 minute mark)

It must be a sign. I'll let the OP create a new thread to spread the news and get all of the upvotes.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:50 PM ^
It was posted this morning.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:15 PM ^
I guess we need to get used to this, hopefully not for too long.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:17 PM ^
Les Miles reads the paper. Got it.
I hate the press. Do they really think a coach is dumb enough to express interest in another job during his press conference?
November 24th, 2014 at 4:20 PM ^
Right? Do people expect him to say "Yep! Super interested in that job" ?
November 24th, 2014 at 4:24 PM ^
November 24th, 2014 at 4:40 PM ^
Or the stringer will shape the coach speak into a clickable narrative.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:21 PM ^
It's just poker. Looking for tells. One of the most common questions around the table is "Whatya got?" Like anyone is going to say "Well I missed my flush." Was Les blinking a lot? Looking to the left? Stuttering? Did he wink? Did he make the Van Buren Boys sign?
November 24th, 2014 at 4:34 PM ^
REPORTER: Are you interested in the ____ Coaching Job?
COACH: Hell Ya! They are going to offer me a crap ton more money than this hell hole. Besides, I think this team is maxed out and is going to regress next year, but what can I say, I wouldn't have to recruit from this crap talent pool when I'm at ____.
REPORTER:...
November 24th, 2014 at 4:38 PM ^
It's not that they expect him to show his interest. They just want to get a quote - any quote - for their "Miles to Michigan?" story. Also, Miles is just weird enough to possibly give them something anyway ("I'm playin' football for LSU.").
November 24th, 2014 at 4:52 PM ^
(the crazy part I mean)..... He's like a crazy great uncle all liquored up on Thanksgiving and dishing 50 year old family dirt. Ya never know what might shake loose. If I were a reporter there is no question too odd. Hell if nothing else he might offer an opinion as to the nutritional value of various turf varieties.
November 24th, 2014 at 9:06 PM ^
I hope Les is at my table on Thursday.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:23 PM ^
And not one thread on he front page about it.
Gotdamn times are hard these days! This sucks!
Les Miles reads the paper threads - 1
Anything OSU week related threads - .5
Edit --- (.5) for the Biakabutka thread

November 24th, 2014 at 4:28 PM ^
I think that the reasons that there are no posts about the OSU game are:
1. this season has been so bad that nobody really cares about the actual football. It is all about the CC at this point, as a win or loss this weekend doesn't do much to change the trajectory of our program;
2. Everyone pretty much assumes that we are going to get slaughtered;
3. WHile most posters will not admit it, many are actually hoping that we do not pull off the miracle upset as it could save Hoke's job. Unlikely, if you apply logic, but as Brian has noted, attempting to apply logic to the functioning of our AD at this point seems . . .illogical.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:42 PM ^
It's possible they're working on a 10 year extension with Hoke because graduation rates.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:22 PM ^
he watches old episodes of Dance Fever.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:28 PM ^
Les Miles is one funny dude.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:31 PM ^
And crazier than a shithouse rat are two different things.
November 24th, 2014 at 5:28 PM ^
He's both.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:28 PM ^
Sounds like Les isn't fully aware. We can cross him off the CC list.

That would be funnier if he weren't a U-M graduate (with a degree in econ, no less).
November 24th, 2014 at 4:35 PM ^
I really hope we don't hire Les Miles.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:40 PM ^
November 24th, 2014 at 4:48 PM ^
Too old, seems to be fading, underperforms with top 5 talent, and is just another member of the old guard. We need someone fresh.
November 24th, 2014 at 4:51 PM ^
Someone fresh but at the same time many people don't want an unproven guy...
November 24th, 2014 at 4:56 PM ^
November 24th, 2014 at 5:05 PM ^
Agreed. Age isnt a facor, he wont lose football knowledge at age 60 lol, Joe Paterno was a great coach at 75-80. Les will be good for 10-15 years.
November 24th, 2014 at 6:39 PM ^
November 24th, 2014 at 4:35 PM ^
At least in this game he does. He will stay in the background and try to be invisible until either he, or another coach (Harbaugh) takes the job, and he surely knows the pecking order. After the last few mishaps, you won't see Les's hand until the cards fall.

Good thread, he loves Michigan
November 24th, 2014 at 5:00 PM ^
Les only reads blogs in an unDave Brandon way.
November 24th, 2014 at 5:03 PM ^
Down deep, we both know he would take the job in a heartbeat, always a good secondary plan if big name coaches dont say yes
