Now I see why we beat sparty all those times...they SUCKED. There were some passes UM receivers caught that nowadays would be picked off. Sheesh.

Harbaugh did a great job looking off the DBs. And the holes were so big even Harbaugh could go through them. At least that's what the announcer said.
OK, yeah, MSU really sucked back then. I remember. I was there. And it was a hell of a lot more fun than now.

Running backs picking up blitzes, offensive line executing blocks. And I only watched 4 minutes.

Who knew thats how Michigan played football.

when your coaches coach it and demand it that way, and when the players completely buy in to the concept.

Makes me all nostalgic when you say those words.

Kolesar, Kattus & White oh my!

I fear that there will be an epic meltdown on this board if Michigan doesn't land Harbaugh.

Count on it.
We're already sizing rings and trying on dresses.
We're going to be bitter.

Way too much buildup. My daily routine mostly consists of me telling myself that it's highly unlikely he comes here.

Man was he accurate on the move. We've had some great QB's since him, but I can't recall another one that could throw on the move like he did. Maybe Henson came close the one year he lit it up.

Brian Griese rolling out and hitting Jerame Tuman in the flank was money in the bank. I'm not saying he surpassed Harbaugh in accuracy on the move (pretty subjective anyway), but I just remember that being a go-to play in '97 that always seemed to pick up 10-15 yards.

Harbaugh highlights or Kattus highlights? I swear every TD was to him.

In '85 that was pretty much true.

The 77-yard TD pass to Kolesar to beat OSU in 1985 was my favorite play. Here is a link to an article about it in retrospect.

right behind the AC catch against IU in 1979. I was a graduate student in 1985 and we were sitting in the north end of the stadium where Kolesar ran toward to score the TD. The timing of this play was epic. Michigan was nursing a tight 3 point lead well into the 4th quarter. OSU was bearing down on Michigan and had us fairly deep in our territory. Harbaugh was facing 3rd down. He went back for the pass and Jamie Morris didn't pick up the blitz and Harbaugh managed to let loose the ball just before being hit. I can still see the ball arcing high into the gloom of the fading light (that game was played later in the afternoon so they had lights set up) and falling into the hands of Kolesar along the sideline. The play broke their backs and Michigan won. What a memory!

I will only melt down if Michigan doesn't TRY to get him, or lowballs him to the point that he'd be stupid to come.
If he doesn't WANT to come for whatever reason, then that is his business, and there is nothing we can do about it. As long as we make a good faith effort to get him here, that is all I ask.
November 6th, 2014 at 4:01 PM ^
Sadly, we'll never know.
November 6th, 2014 at 4:20 PM ^
Last time the "word on the street" was that Michigan never offered the job to him. And Harbaugh himself denied ever being ithe running for the job, and seemed rather miffed about it. Which looks like in the end was absolutely true.
If Michigan offers the job to him and he says no, we will probably hear about it. With so many people clamoring for Harbaugh, I suspect if he is talked to and doesn't want the job, someone will talk about it, if nothing else just to let people know that all bases were covered with him. The idea that we hired Hoke without even talking to Harbaugh last time is just ridiculous..

Can't believe it's been five years since I made that. I remember while I was editing that video together, the news broke on TV about the Tiger Woods scandal and how Elin Nordegren had used a golf club to break all the windows on his car.
After the video was posted, a couple people asked me if this was my subtle way of saying I don't support RichRod or how could I make a tribute video to a guy who slams his alma mater, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Jim Harbaugh on work ethics. I don't care what people say the chances of landing him are, I really want him to be our coach. He gets it. Please being him here!

Not sure which was more of a "blast from the past": the full-house backfield, or the fact that the pants weren't highlighter yellow.

Bo loved to line up in the Wishbone look in '86, but he would never actually run it.
It was all the rage after Oklahoma's success with it in '85 with Jamelle Holieway, the "Wishbone Wizard" . . . one of my favorite players to watch ever.
November 6th, 2014 at 4:51 PM ^
watching him play. He was tough, and had that "it" factor that has been lacking for quite a few years. This is just a guess, but that "it" might be what is wearing thin in San Francisco right about now. I think he comes home to Michigan, or never coaches in college again. Just my humble opinion.

Whomever knows Johnny Kolasar, Eric Kattus, or Gerald White needs to contact them and tell them to call up Jimmy and implore him to come back to Ann Arbor and bring back us back to these glory days!
So many great memories -- I remember so many of those TD plays.
