"This facility will enable groundbreaking experiments by our faculty and students, resulting in landmark advances at the interface of mechanical engineering and nanoscience. We look forward to watching this progress unfold," said David Munson, the Robert J. Vlasic Dean of Engineering.
I know it stinks that our football team isn't doing great right now -but the school (which is the important thing) is doing great!

How about a supply of competent offensive linemen and defensive backs that destroy our opponents?

Robert J. Vlasic, as in the pickle guy?
That's the best engineering dean I've ever heard!

Why is president Schlissel focusing on stuped acedemic stuff like nanobots when are football team is so bad!!!?!?! Doesnt he know that David Brandon is a douchbag and Hoke is so stuped too? If Schlissel doesnt care about what is really important at Michigan than he should be fired too with the other idiots!

Sorry, I'm not impressed. What are they going to be able to do with 46 milli-dollars. Now if it were $46M...

Wish they had this shit when I was there. GG Brown was kind of a dump.
October 10th, 2014 at 12:14 PM ^
It still is. This is just an attachment, I believe. My work required me to go there several times last semester and the place is in poor shape. I was always annoyed with the construction because it made it difficult to get to certain parts of the building but seeing the final product shaping up is pretty cool.
October 10th, 2014 at 2:30 PM ^
I'm a BSME class of '92. The only reason I point out my year is to say that GG Brown was basically under construction when I was there. I don't think it'll ever not be under some form of construction.
October 10th, 2014 at 3:29 PM ^
I graduated this year and I'm pretty sure it has been under construction the whole time I was there.

ESPN and Adam Rittenberg have already written a cover article on the depth of the SEC's nanomechanical capabilities and the antiquated laboratories in Ann Arbor. The SEC is launching an even bigger and bettern Nanomechanical Lab in Tuscaloosa. Genetically engineered versions of Tim Tebow and Paul Finebaum will lead the network...err..ahh...Lab
October 10th, 2014 at 10:42 AM ^
If it's the SEC, genetic engineering will probably be limited to blow up plastic likenesses of Tebow and.....hostesses.
Michigan research is something we all should be proud of.

Sure, that nanostuff is pretty cool, until you can't find a reasonably-priced hotel with beds that aren't infected with the little demons - crawling all over you while you sleep, digging under your skin, planting their nanolarvae, reprogramming your mind.
October 10th, 2014 at 10:57 AM ^
I heard that lady that called Finebaum's show earlier in the week to yell at Cowherd (ie. "CowTurd") just called into his show again to yell at bluebyyou....
Its no joke, Michigan is national championship status when it comes to research - there was a WSJ article a few years ago on the Tech Transfer Department - they are the most productive in the nation based on 'inventions patented' and royalty revenue
