They just didn't execute.

UPDATES
All purchases made so far through this promotion, though, will be honored -- per Michigan RE: Coca Cola-gate.

In other news, my followers on Twitter (several post here) have held me to this: if he's hired, I will buy the same cheap ass pleated khakis that Harbaugh buys from Walmart (yeah, yeah) and wear them for every single game he coaches at Michigan, if he is hired. Even if it's 80-plus degrees.

knows how to market pizzas, not a multi-million dollar athletics program.
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
Not even pizza. Domino's sucked while he was there.
We hired him because...........why?
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
He nearly damn well killed it. He is the Rick Wagoner of Pizza CEOs.
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:45 PM ^
To provide a little insight into where the marketing / branding thing comes in, he did help build Valassis when he was CEO there in the 1990s, so when Michigan tickets start appearing in your weekly circular like RedPlum or some of the affiliate brands in the Valassis umbrella, there may not be much shock at this point, it seems.

He is also the Rick Wagoner of the Michigan Athletic Department.

bags of money. I know some of us on this board hate him for it (it seems a bit whoorish), but he is successful at raising truckloads of cash.

In the short term, sure. How's that working out for us now?
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
Didn't know how to do that very well. Domino's stock price shot waaaaaaay up after he left.
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:13 PM ^
Not sure I believe this... I just checked the Oxford-English dictionary. Apparently the definition of "miscommunication" is not "Fuck, people found out about this. ABORT, ABORT, ABORT!!"

Does this school think we're all fucking stupid?
If it didn't, would it do the shit it does? It thinks we are very stupid. And will continue to do so until we get fed up and bite it in the ass.

For a second I thought they were giving away actual coke-kane.
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:16 PM ^
Saw this in August at Meijer and took a pic. Didn't go viral, obviously, because they slyly used "Any fall sport" and Michigan wasn't sucking yet.
September 22nd, 2014 at 10:54 PM ^
immediately after you shot this picture.
September 23rd, 2014 at 10:34 AM ^
That Meijer sign does not help support the "story" that this Coke promotion was some anomoly of a process breakdown.
It only appears that the price went down from $15 for water to $3.00 for Coke.

This is why I was against the hiring of Brandon as AD in the first place.
UM hired a guy who made his fortune marketing junk mail and cheap pizza, and to a marketing hammer like Brandon, everything looks like a nail.

What the hell. It doesn't take a genius to make/raise money off of Michigan football, yet Brandon keeps doing stupid crap that he doesn't need to do. Just lower the freaking student ticket prices if you really want them at the games. Why make them (or anyone) buy some bullshit product first?
September 22nd, 2014 at 9:21 PM ^
This football program is a damn circus right now.

and if you read the guy's post right below mine you'll learn what happened too. BTW - that dude is BRILLIANT!
Even he does occasionally double post.

You have to think anybody paying a PSL is going to be justifiably pissed if other people are getting into the stadium simply because they super-sized their lunch combo.

i think i know what happened. The "promotion" was suppose to quietly move the unsold tickets to the students (actually not a bad thing) hence it's giveaway location in the student union. However when they got outed by 814E U they had to quickly come up with a lame cover story to explain what was going on before the current season ticket holders completely lost their collective minds.
Everytime I think we cant go any lower - we do.

that Brandon was able to piss off the students enough so he sell their tickets to full price paying customers. No way that could backfire. Nope. Sound game plan. That section is as full as my hair (I'm bald. That's the joke).

My father said a guy from his firm is going to the ticket office tomorrow to return his tickets. I'll let you know how it goes. Might be something for everyone to consider.
$1.50 for a $75 ticket is 2% of face value. If you are a season ticket holder, you should be beyond pissed off. They should be lowering the prices or rebating season ticket holders, not tossing tickets out for corporate promotions. I guess Brandin' loves his corporate friends more than loyal season ticket holders.
