You posted this comment twelve more times than we have been in the red zone against real opponents this year.

Never in a million years would I have thought that. Selling jerseys is a good start.

I have THE perfect word to describe Hokespeak:
OXYMORON.

Awesome, i hope this becomes a weekly ESPN tradition untill he is fired. I don't think this is the kind of attention DB wants, but who knows?

It's just part of the WOW experience.

Failing publicly, especially on a big stage, is one of my great irrational fears (irrational because I will never be on a big stage).

is a real QB. DG scares no one .... sad but true. Count your own personal WTF's vs. OMG's when it comes to Devin. F'ing great kid - but not anything close to a differnece maker QB.
Go Blue!

I think Wojo asked this question, in the context of asking whether Hoke thinks there's a feeling of "crisis" around the program now. Hoke said something about not really thinking about that, and then tossed out, "Did you think we'd be in the Sugar Bowl in year one?" Seemed pretty defiant to me, throwing out that Sugar Bowl reference.
The problem is, Hoke DID establish, on the very day he took the job, where we all should think and expect this program to be in year four (and every other year) -- competing for a Big Ten championship. Is anyone still deluding themselves about the likelihood of that for this year's team, under the current regime?

They just realeased Brady Hoke's T-shirt for next week's press conference.

Gardner wants to play better.
Hoke on Gardner: "Has he made perfect decisions? No, but he wants too."

September 22nd, 2014 at 1:06 PM ^
Did anyone really expect Hoke to get up there and say "Well, I'm a terrible coach and our football team is bad"?
September 22nd, 2014 at 4:48 PM ^
There's a small part of me that tuned in hoping that something like that would happen.
September 22nd, 2014 at 1:09 PM ^
We are less than 24hrs outside a Cowboys win and ESPN breaks into nonstop coverage to show us Brady Hoke? Someone at ESPN must have suffered a stroke and hit the wrong button, or DB just trolled them. I can't think of a single time during the darkest hours of RR that ESPN was breaking in on a Monday to give him a national platform. Whelp, that was 15min I'll never get back.
September 22nd, 2014 at 1:08 PM ^
Isn't that the bottom line? Hoke talks a lot about how this team's primary goal is to win the Big 10. So, OK, Brady...this is your Year 4. Win the damn thing already.
It's depressing when Michigan can't take advantage of an overall miserable conference.

You think? If I'm part of the "Ohio State contingent" at ESPN, the last thing I want to do is get Hoke fired..

So true, Ohio State is quite happy with Mr. Hoke.

I have friends that went to OSU, PSU and MSU and they all are begging for Hoke to win just enough games to keep him coaching forever. They recognized him for what he was years ago.
September 22nd, 2014 at 1:12 PM ^
Press conferences are such a waste of time for coaching staff.. without a winning season, they can never look good at a presser, they can only try to avoid looking too bad. I'd rather give them time to go over film, anything but this. Let Brandon handle the pressers, he's the PR guy, and let the coaches do what they are paid to do. As for ESPN, they are sniffing around for some possible drama, it's not like they have insider knowledge of anything. LIke the story someone posted yesterday, complete speculation (and rehashed speculation at that) - it's not like the reporter had any sources for anything. You see that a lot these days.
September 22nd, 2014 at 1:18 PM ^
Unfortunately, he is terrible at producing a good product on the field.
September 22nd, 2014 at 1:38 PM ^
Initially I was very lukewarm at best to the Hoke hiring. It felt like a truely uninspired selection, that would not make Michigan football exceptional on the field. After the 11-2 season and some great recruiting classes, I was onboard and got into arguments frequently with friends and family that live in SEC Country.
Alas, my initial impression seems to have been correct. Hoke is exactly what I thought he would be as the Michigan head coach when he first hired in. I person of high character that would mend the program, but would get Michigan in the National Championship picture.
He is the classic transition coach, that builds the foundation, but will not be the one to see it through. Like Scotty Robertson for the Pistons before Chuck Daly.
What Michigan must avoid with the next hire is someone like Cam Cameron. He is a good coordinator, but has not demonstrated that he is a good head coach. Go after the coach with the track record! Someone who has won championships in D1 or been to Super Bowls in the NFL or won multiple championships at a lower level.
Do not assume that because this is Michigan you can plug anyone with Michigan ties into the role and compete at the highest level!

September 22nd, 2014 at 4:56 PM ^
Serious question: Since ESPN does not usually air Monday mid-day Michigan press conferences, and it's pretty clear that they aired it just to stir up the pot, why did the AD not say "F you ESPN, we're not letting you in to air the press conference live. If you really care that much come back after a win."?
Do they have some kind of standing agreement that they have no choice about?
