Dang, I can't type fast enough.

but I sense that we will see all five of these guys on the field a week from Saturday.
August 28th, 2014 at 5:51 PM ^
And have ND risk vacating these games if the players were found to be ineligible? You didn't think this one through did you?
August 28th, 2014 at 6:55 PM ^
According to virtually every source, they are definitely out for at least this Saturday, but the timeline is sketchy after that, it seems. Kelly did indicate in a Sun-Times interview that there was supposed to be a meeting sometime in the coming week with Swarbrick about where the investigation stood, so I bet the next major update to this story comes perhaps this time next week.

It puts them significantly behind us in race for the "Winningest Program of All TIme" title, based on win percent.
They always made a big deal about owning this title back in the day until we took it from them. They took it back at the end of last year, but only by 1 or 2 games. If they vacate a bunch of games, it puts us back in front by good amount.

They are investigating, perhaps even done investigating, then it gets turned over to some kind of Honor Court. They are out, pending the result of that proceeding.
August 28th, 2014 at 7:55 PM ^
Is Honor Court similar to the Reslife thing that forced Golson to sit out one year?

No, it's a bit more like thunderdome

which is why you always need to be cautious with BREAKING TWITTER NEWS. They were just suspended, I believe pending a full investigation

If the investigation is concluded and these guys were going to be back on the field shortly, you'd be seeing them returned to the team immediately. The only reason to continue to hold them out (and add a 5th) is if the school's investigation has determined that they either face a school suspension and/or are now academically ineligible. I expect that the quasi-judicial process for the school starts now and the players aren't back until it reaches a conclusion. I highly doubt that happens in 10 days.

The whole situation has gotten far less attention than I would of expected. Came out on a Friday night and it was bad, but we really haven't heard much if anything about it since then.

Once the major new broke, there really wasn't much mroe to report. But now that the investigation is over, it has the chance for some more run. Brian Kelly is supposed to be having a press conference shortly. It will be interesting to see what they found and how much news coveragethose findings get going forward (given football is actually starting, probably not much)

... every answer should be, "Did we mess up? Yeah. But at least we didn't send a press release out about a fake rescue that was actually a potential criminal activity... Oh, and at least my players aren't quitting while blasting me for being a racist."
Then in Sark's press release he can say, "Did we mess up? Sure, but at least my players aren't ringleaders in an institutionalized cheating ring. And, we don't cover up potential domestic abuse that leads to victim's suicides, and don't even get me started about the poor AV kid who died during a practice."
August 28th, 2014 at 9:57 PM ^
...then somebody brings up Ohio state and tatgate, and the they're like, "yeah, but at least we aren't Miami..."
Then Miami says, "Mind your own damn business, URBAN. At least we're not SMU...and what the HELL are you doing to that cooler???"
Then SMU says, "Holy frick, sure Craig James killed all those hookers (allegedly), but that was like a hundred years ago, leave us alone. Besides, its not like we're Penn State."
Then Penn State says, "Yeah...Ok. Yeah."

You know those "Ann Arbor is a Whore" t-shirts that our rivals somehow find funny? It's gonna be tough for an NDU fan to walk around wearing one of those when the immediate rejoinder is "Your Players Are Whores".
After all, if the tutorial stories prove to be true, those players were trading sexual services for compensation. Of course if any t-shirt were produced in Ann Arbor regarding this situation, they may well use less judgmental language and say "NDU's Players Are Sex Workers" which would be ... pretty great.

It's the University of Notre Dame, not Notre Dame University. And the University of Notre Dame's football players are Sex Workers. Allegedly.
I hope Craig James does not kill these five alleged ND sex workers. That would be awful.

Where have you read these stories you speak of?
August 28th, 2014 at 6:35 PM ^
But it was on the ND message boards when the story first broke. The scuttlebutt was that the tutor was writing the students' papers in trade for them sexing her up something proper. It's all hearsay, but it's really funny hearsay that might prove true.
And to Hell with Notre Dame!

Probably 12 or 13 depending on how you count. For instance, Rees is a lost starter, but Golson would have been the starter absent his suspension. That number doesn't include Ishaq Williams who was a would be starter.
