Hoke is serving up another helping of finger licking good victory over UF.
Gator...it's what's for dinner!
the real question here is: where is this bbq coming from? zingerman's? satchel's?? slow's???
on another note: why are bbq joint names so possesive?
I like turtles.
I like beer
I love lamp.
Money (, Eddie, that is)
I love their sandwich called "The Nugent." Pulled pork topped off with some rub cole slaw. Good eating.
But it just sounds wrong when people say they work at Ford's or got their shirt at Nordstom's or bought their potato salad from Meijer's
You are right! That's like wet burritos and party stores, things I thought existed everywhere else until I moved out of Michigan.
One thing, though: there actually was a Meijer's Grocery Store or two when I was a kid in Grand Rapids. But the possessive was dropped for the Thrifty Acres.
I'll second that. I've heard people saying "Meijers" for years.
Interesting...I only shop at Wallgreen.
I prefer Rite Aids.
I don't recall saying KMarts, though I do remember saying Kroger's, Penny's, Meijer's, and Kresge's. I knew a few people that worked at Ford, but none that worked at Ford's. However, now that you mention it, were Ford a grocery or retail store, I might be inclinded to call it Ford's.
A Texas thing.
and I lived in SC before that, I'm a damn yankee. Just ask anyone when I open my mouth to speak. I return to Michigan to visit friends and family, they mock my "southern" accent. I go to local HS football games wearing my Michigan shirt and hat, order a pop at the concession stand, turn around and shout, "Hey you guys" and I'm treated like royalty with mothers and fathers telling me all about so and so, and watch how this guy does this or that. I don't know, maybe they think I'm a scout or something. Who knows.
The Michigan Left.
Michigan left of which you speak? It's been donkey years since spent much time in the state.
Ah, would that be a left hand turn from a one way street onto another one way street?
Liberals.
Thanks for pointing this out. I've wondered why only my hometown friends and I do this assuming it was limited to a very small circle of people. I have been enlightend.
My favorite use-case is calling EA Sports NCAA football, "College Footballs".....RIP College Footballs.....
Are you still unable to buy beer at gas stations in Indiana?
Labatt's
Hate that. Drives me nuts. I think I've developed a reactionary-correction for people when it happens.
I'll bring some great TX barbeque and make sure the name of the place isn't a proper noun. Hard Eight BBQ* comes to mind. Although something might be lost during transporation.

*I have no affiliation whatsoever, just a taste for good cookin'.
St Louis BBQ joints follow the same naming convention with the possessive locations: Pappy's BBQ and Bogart's BBQ. Good stuff.
I went to an event a couple of weeks ago that featured food prepared by Slow's. It was possible to walk up to the table, close one's eyes and not make a bad choice. Just an amazing job all the way around.
That's a good question. I could see calling it Slow because you cook the brisket low 'n slow. But why the possessive Slow's?. Who IS Slow? Fortunately I know the Cooley family that owns it so I can ask them and report back here. Get right on it.
I think the "we" varies quite a bit. Normal, healthy Michigan fans didn't know that Marcus Lewis was coming before reading this. Really normal, healthy Michigan fans still don't know. Those of us who spend way too much time on recruiting - myself included - probably picked it up awhile ago.
Maybe so but if the bad news threads on the non-attendees warrant a discussion it only seems fair that the GOOD news of unexpected visitors get a thread of their own too.
For those in need of some film to view on Marcus Lewis, his Hudl page is right here - LINK
His offers in the Big Ten include Michigan as well as MSU, Iowa, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Indiana and Rutgers. Beyond the Big Ten, the list includes Oregon, Baylor, Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Miami (YTM), Kentucky, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia and perhaps a dozen others. It's an impressive and eclectic list of schools, to be sure.
And while these are HS players, he shows the ability to shed blocks and make plays. Needs another 20 pounds or so. I do wonder why coverage of deep routes wasn't included. He claims a 4.38 forty so it wouldn't appear to be speed. Interesting that he'll be a 19 year old freshman, he'll have a year of a physical maturity on most of his peers.
according to the same article.
I have to admit, Hoke and Co. are getting epic DB's to the campus! I like this guy for some reason. Just stands out to me. Mojo? Moxy?
