Final Edition - Every Conference Championship Outcome: Playoff Possibilities
With the Alabama win, there are just 4 outcomes remaining. The committee is praying for a FSU loss, because if they losea and Michigan wins, the committee will need to make the tough pick between Alabama and Texas. I maintain that they will go with Alabama if that scenario does come up.
1. Mich Win, FSU win,: 1) Mich 2) Wash 3) Alabama 4) FSU
Alabama in over Texas despite head to head loss because of win over Georgia. Texas royally pissed. Any scenario with FSU in the playoff will see them seeded 4th. Michigan v FSU in Rose Bowl (if the committee chooses Texas, Texas is #3 and Michigan still plays FSU in the Rose Bowl).
2. Mich Win, FSU loss: 1) Mich 2) Wash 3) Texas 4) Alabama
While I believe the committee would give Alabama a spot in the playoff over Texas, if both qualify, Texas will be ahead of Alabama to appease the head to head win argument (I'm fully immersed in the twisted logic of playoff committee here). Michigan v Alabama in Rose Bowl
3. Mich loss, FSU win: 1) Wash 2) Texas 3) Alabama 4) FSU
The four viable conference champs. Michigan DNQ
4. Mich loss, FSU loss: 1) Wash 2) Texas 3) Alabama 4) Mich
Michigan in over 1-loss FSU (people don't want them in even as an undefeated team), 1-loss Georgia (2nd SEC team vs 1st B10 team), 1-loss OSU (head to head). Michigan v Washington in Rose Bowl

Beat Iowa
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
This is THE only answer.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
Well we're not playing so it's really not an answer for this discussion at all.
December 2nd, 2023 at 8:24 PM ^
Another plug for my diary that maps out the scenarios. With Washington, Alabama, and Texas winning, the bonus is if FSU pulls it out against Louisville, likely denying a spot to Alabama.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:26 PM ^
If Bama gets in over Texas, then there's zero reason to play the games.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
agree 100
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
Also, zero chance Mich makes it in over Georgia if they lose.
Beat Iowa.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:31 PM ^
Texas looked good today. They are fast. That would be a tough matchup for sure. Although I’ll be surprised if Worthy didn’t tear his ACL.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:32 PM ^
I got bad news for you… the other 12 games count too, not just one from September.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:36 PM ^
"The games count, just not when it's inconvenient for the SEC."
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:37 PM ^
Including the one where Bama needed a prayer answered to beat lowly Auburn? Just last week? I think head to head has to count for something as the ultimate tie breaker
December 2nd, 2023 at 8:08 PM ^
Not to mention a pitiful performance against USF, AND hanging on for dear life against a wretched Arkansas team at home no less. Screw Alabama and the SEC. See you next year.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:35 PM ^
The committee system will need to be blown up, even with the swtich to 12 teams next season.
December 2nd, 2023 at 9:48 PM ^
Bama is 100% getting in over Texas. I don't agree with it, but it is what is going to happen.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:46 PM ^
Sadly, I think you’re correct. Texas should be in over ‘bama.
And yes, it hurt to type that.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:26 PM ^
JWTFG!
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
BEAT IOWA!
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
To hell with the SEC (and Notre Dame)!
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:39 PM ^
And the rest of the B1G, don’t want to leave them out.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
Absolutely no reason an undefeated ACC champ and Big12 Champ with a head to head win shouldn't be in. However, we're all about to see the $EC schlob fest.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:46 PM ^
Danielson was already starting
December 2nd, 2023 at 8:04 PM ^
Of course.

December 2nd, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
If we lose we are out not getting in with a loss over UGA
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:30 PM ^
This, and it's not close sadly.
Georgia been above us all year. They won't lose to Bama and us lose to Iowa and somehow the Iowa loss makes us look better. We win or we fin....
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:39 PM ^
Tbh… if we lose to I-wa (No O), I might say we dont deserve a CFP slot. And anyway it would be a “worse loss” than UGa’s or UT’s.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
BEaT Iowa
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:43 PM ^
How much should I bet on Iowa?
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
Gotta root for a FSU win. Doomsday for the committee. Torches and pitchforks will be wielded in the streets somewhere come tomorrow.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
Not just a win, but a blow the doors off and leave no doubt, win.
December 2nd, 2023 at 8:02 PM ^
Rooting for FSU to annihilate Louisville!
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
Texas deserves it more than Bama if the last spot comes down to that.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
M
W
TEXAS
FSU
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
Agreed.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:37 PM ^
That would certainly be the optimal outcome for UM. I would definitely make UM the favorite to win it all in that scenario.
Plus, added bonus of no SEC. I'm still not sure the committee will allow that to happen.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:44 PM ^
A 1-loss Texas over an undefeated FSU?
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
I think that's quite likely in the seedings, which aren't as previously sacrosanct as the in/out decision. (I say previously, because I think the Travis injury gives the committee an angle to include Bama should both Michigan & FSU win tonight.)
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
Ordering doesn't matter - these four should be atop.
December 2nd, 2023 at 8:11 PM ^
No complaints here. I’d love the easy path to the finals
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
You might as well just delete the scenarios where we lose. If that happens, no one really gives AF.
As long as we win, and OSU doesn’t get in, I don’t care what happens. Although I don’t want to play Bama, that’s for sure. And thanks to Washington for beating Oregon cuz I didn’t want to play them either.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:31 PM ^
Eh Bama doesn't look *that* great. They're obviously very good, but not unbeatably good.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:37 PM ^
Milroe running the ball is a huge problem. They are incredibly fast and way more dynamic than Georgia. They aren’t consistent and are mistake prone, but they are super dangerous as proven tonight. Preparing for Georgia would’ve been much simpler.
December 2nd, 2023 at 8:00 PM ^
Milroe has poor pocket awareness when passing. Takes bad sacks frequently.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:37 PM ^
Milroe is a matchup nightmare for us. It is in our very DNA to struggle with a running QB.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
FSU is toast. They're getting dropped.
It'll be Michigan Washington Alabama Texas
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:35 PM ^
Could be Michigan Washington Texas Alabama in that case
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:39 PM ^
I see that as a lot more explainable than Bama over Texas w FSU also in.
Not many are talking about it, but I think the possibility is out there.
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:39 PM ^
I'd be happy with that
December 2nd, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
Win three in a row = National Champs
Starts tonight - BEAT IOWA. Worry about the rest tomorrow.
