I hear this from Chip defenders all the time.  One counter example does not disprove an overall point.

His recruiting classes were notorious for:

Giving out very few offers

Targeting players who had comparatively few P5 offers

Generally low ranking and not set up to manage rosters.

There was no strategy, no plan, and no concerted effort.  Moore falling into his lap because Moore wanted to start his first year and Nix stayed at Oregon and Dillingham left for ASU does not an effective counter-example make.

Try again.

If you fire in mid November you can....

Yeah I got no advantages for firing a coach 6 weeks before you hire his replacement. O coord/D coord/ Head coaches your team is better off finishing off the season.

UCLA is 6-4 with two games left. Hell they would be the 4th or 5th best team in the big ten.

I saw a comment on reddit stating that Dante Moore had been disappointing, which surprised me as I recalled seeing some good numbers from him earlier in the year. Apparently that ended when they got past their cupcake non-conf schedule and he tanked a bit in the next three games against ranked conf opponents. Still has the talent though, I'd take him if he wanted to come home.

He never should have been starting in the first place but UCLA had a pretty empty cupboard at QB after DTR left.  add to that an bad O-Line(thanks to Kelly's refusal to recruit) and Moore was thrown to the wolves.  Feel bad for the kid, but that's the wages of insisting that you start your first year.

He was a pick six machine once UCLA played real opposition and that's what brought out the hook.

Chip Kelly is to UCLA as Rich Rodriguez is to UM. That would make Oregon the West Virginia of the Pacific Northwest (hardly a compliment), and DTR the California (via Nevada) version of Denard Robinson (via Florida). But what will Kelly sing while crying and trying to forestall his inevitable firing? What is the 2023 version of Josh Groban???

That sound you all just heard was MSU dropping down yet another notch in the coaching search list.  And yeah, I know Urban is "just about" to sign with State and make this take look bad.

I was watching a YouTube video that focuses on Florida football, and they had Urban on.  He was asked, point blank, if he would consider a return to coaching.  His answer: "No interest, no interest whatsoever."  I realize he could change his tune, but there was something in his tone and body language that I read as his being serious, at least at this point.

They have a border-line Top 10 defense this year.  It's bizarrely been their offense that has been letting them down.

Kelly is 59 years old, so I'm not sure he gets another shot at a P5 HC job.  OC, yes.
