If you were wondering where Warde Manuel was on all of this, look no further:

Time to leave the B1G for bigger pastures, Comrades.

Up until this point Ward has been equal to Aaron Burr at the beginning of Hamilton..

“Talk less..  Smile more.. Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for..”

Edit: I should add that I’m impressed by this letter.

Today may be a little gloomy for the athletic department but long term is looking better and better. No doubt Jim is 'feeling the love' now and the merits for the Big Ten and NCAA trying to expedite this based on someone's PI continue to have flimsy outlooks

it is nice to hear him say all of this, but I cant help but chuckle at the refrain that this is setting a dangerous precedent for everyone. Obviously a lot of people are echoing this so Im not knocking warde by any means. And obviously IT DOES set a horrible standard, but...

Its just that this is clearly about punishing harbaugh and Michigan. Thats the point. No other coaches are going to complain about anything or do this kangaroo court shit again for any reason, so the precedent wont matter. It has only ever been, and will only ever be, about punishing harbaugh and Michgan and trying to force him out. This conference wants to be OSU's bitch. Until they are back on top and Harbaugh is gone its always going to be like this.

Well, as I said, its because its about harbaugh. Hes not part of the club and they've never liked him. They saw blood in the water with the investigation and took their shot at him. They arent going to complain about anyone else, just like no one has ever complained about anyone else. I bet a dollar no coach(es) stir anything up again while the big ten still exists.

They saw an opportunity to get Jim and took it.

The B1G JCEG voted on this.

Make the votes public.  And, in Friday’s hearing - ask the B1G to identify who told ESPN about the suspension before notifying Michigan.

“All of the Head Coaches in the Big Ten (some who have been accused of actively participating in the trading of signals of opponents) and my Big Ten AD colleagues can rejoice today that someone was “held accountable,” but they should be worried about the new standard of judgment (without complete investigation) that has been unleashed in this conference.

“You may have removed him from our sidelines today, but Jim Harbaugh is our head football coach. We look forward to defending Jim’s right to coach our football team at the hearing on Friday. He has instilled his pride, passion, and the team’s belief in themselves to achieve greatness. I will continue to support Jim throughout this process, my coaches and staff, and especially our student-athletes as we continue to play this game and fight to win for Michigan and all who love us.

One thing I haven't seen discussed about the B1G punishment is that they say they might not be done. They said take these 3 games and we'll decide if there will be more. What that means is this: when Michigan demolishes PSU, MD and OSU, the B1G can decide that the punishment didn't work and suspend Harbaugh for the B1G title game. Or they can decide to continue this into next season.

Getting a little teary-eyed, gotta say. What normal human could not feel the indignation and repudiation and lawlessness of what just happened?

Absolutely nobody that I want to know or associate with!

OSU paying the big bag just to get a recruit to do an on-campus visit is 'unsportsmanlike' and 'violates the integrity of the game.'

So...I guess Petitti now has to suspend Day...

And...therein lies the problem Petitti has created.   He has no way to prevent any member school form seeking to use the Sportsmanship policy as a back door way for rush to judgment punishment.

I believe those are his words and his alone. I don’t get the sense that he had lawyers help draft that. It sounds like it’s coming straight from the heart.

I read this as follows: yes, we apparently behaved poorly and will punish the offending parties in due time; however, no punishment is warranted without due process. In other words, we'd suspend Coach at a later date - after the process plays out to its conclusion.

Warde is a strictly by-the-book administrator with no real loyalty to or affection for Coach. I've got no expectations of real or vigorous advocacy from him.

My opinion of him (WM) has been lowered from neutral to negative.
