Stop it. Get some help. No bu seriously you need therapy if you see this Lions team playing so well, with Branch and Laporta rookie starters playing well and you're bitching about their espn projected draft rank??? Like what's wrong with you??

Ifs and buts, candy and nuts. First place and we're not wishing to rewrite history

re: Jameson Williams
Jamo has had less than 10 touches in his career, and those include:
- 40-yd TD catch vs Minnesota
- 40-yd reverse run vs Chicago
- 45-yard TD vs Tampa
And that's not including the 70-yard TD vs Green Bay that was called back or when Goff missed him for another long TD against the Jets last season.
Draft busts don't do that. Is he a perfect player right now? No, but people need to get off his back and let him grow.
I understand the frustration and impatience that come with injury recovery and some immature decisions from a 22-year-old kid, but Lions fans should be getting into his corner instead of trying to throw him out of the ring.

And the 13-3 record in their last 16 games is the best since the 1961-62 season.
I’m always cautious with any optimism regarding the Lions but boy have they looked good so far. It’s been fun.
October 15th, 2023 at 10:15 PM ^
Certainly the best Lions team I've seen in my lifetime. Perhaps the same can be said of M by season's end.

I move that even though this is a Michigan Wolverines message board we say that the Lions aren't Off Topic as long as they're in first place.

Seconded

I love ya kid but have a downvote

I got the price I'd have to pay for this post, but I stand by it. This ain't MGoLions. I'm a Michigan grad from NYC, and I will rep my pro teams when you Lions/Tigers fans rep your teams. Yankees/Giants/Knicks!* Neg away!
*Hockey isn't my thing, so I really don't give a rat's ass about the Rangers. I actually admired those Russian Red Wing teams and the way they played a beautiful, flowing game. So...yeah.

shut up Meg
October 15th, 2023 at 7:22 PM ^
First time since 2011 they began the season 5-1. They went 10-6 that year and made the Wild Card. Before that they were 5-1 in 1991.

‘91. The Big Buck Wayne Fontes. Erik Kramer. Chris Spielman. And of course Barry.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:00 PM ^
I'm convinced they would've finished with the #1 seed if Best hadn't suffered that concussion against San Fran that year.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:22 PM ^
It must be so frustrating to be Hutchinson and not get holding penalties called. It’s literally every snap
October 15th, 2023 at 7:25 PM ^
If you watch all the top pass rushers, they get held every play.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:25 PM ^
It’s nuts
October 15th, 2023 at 8:32 PM ^
It’s not that nuts when you consider that almost everyone outside of the B1G prefers offense, including, most importantly, the people who pay the bills.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:23 PM ^
Umm, it's LOINS. Geez man, at least get the basics correct...
October 15th, 2023 at 7:38 PM ^
Not anymore
October 15th, 2023 at 7:39 PM ^
Not this season
October 15th, 2023 at 8:17 PM ^
I stand corrected! Forward down the field..
October 15th, 2023 at 8:37 PM ^
....a charging team that will not yield....
...and when the blue and silver wave...
October 16th, 2023 at 8:30 AM ^
Yeah Man get with it, they stopped being the Loins when they ended Rodgers Green Bay Career.
There are the Brand new Detroit Lions, Coached by none other than MC/DC!
If you want to know how I know these aren't the SOL: I'll tell you these guys like to win on the road.
In my lifetime the Lions have never been a road winner, that has done a 180 under Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell!
October 16th, 2023 at 9:16 AM ^
Next week will be the acid test. Win in Baltimore and the whole world will believe. (Sorry, John. Family ties only go so far. )
October 15th, 2023 at 7:24 PM ^
They haven’t looked this good since Sanders, Spielman, Blades, et al.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
I vividly remember 1991.
The Lions never looked this good.
This is different
October 15th, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
Dan Campbell can lead football players.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:08 PM ^
Yeah, the run and shoot Lions were not as good as people here remember. They had some great players--and the G.O.A.T in Sanders--but that offense was trash against any functional defense.
October 15th, 2023 at 9:14 PM ^
And as great last Barry was (and in 58 years I haven't seen better), getting one yard when needed or in the end zone on short yardage was a struggle.
October 15th, 2023 at 10:13 PM ^
I mean, TBD, final results matter, and that 1991 team was fun.
But I am absolutely open to this argument. Certainly seems like a good chance this will be the best team since then for sure. A home playoff game is very much on the table and maybe more.
October 16th, 2023 at 2:56 PM ^
That '91 Washington squad was a monster, one of the best Washington teams in their history. We ran into a buzz saw.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:25 PM ^
Pour the kool-aid.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:26 PM ^
They just got their #1 WR back and then the top two RBs are out. I see relatively 5 more wins in their schedule and make the playoffs. Obviously we want more. If they can go 2 of next 3, that would be excellent and possibly get them to 12 wins. Looking good.
They have a make of a scrappy team. If everything comes together, they can make a deep run.
October 15th, 2023 at 8:03 PM ^
I don’t think they’ll win the rest of their games but there literally isn’t another team on their schedule they can’t beat and depending on how the chips fall, they should be favored for each game save Dallas, Baltimore, and maybe NO.
Feels weird typing that out without a /s.
Forward down the field!
October 15th, 2023 at 9:34 PM ^
I wouldn't include NO, but the most amazing stat I saw today is that Detroit is no 7-1 in their last 8 road games. Anyway you want to slice that, that is a sign of a very good football team...
But your overall point is right on. Eleven games remain on their schedule, they will be favored in at least 9 of the 11... Mind blowing...
October 15th, 2023 at 9:45 PM ^
It's still hard to go to the Superdome and win. And even if they lose 3 or 4 more games, with the competition in this division it should hopefully still be enough to finally host a playoff game at Ford Field.
October 15th, 2023 at 8:28 PM ^
I believe the term is 'gritty'.
October 15th, 2023 at 7:26 PM ^
I've been watching the Lions since 1967. I don't know exactly when I gave up on them, but I came to believe that they would never amount to anything under WCF. I give Brad Holmes about 65% of the credit. Dan and the coaching staff deserve the rest, Winning the division would be a great step for the organization,
October 15th, 2023 at 7:33 PM ^
I realized they were a joke when they hired Daryl Rogers
October 15th, 2023 at 8:24 PM ^
Well, they're not owned by WCF anymore, so you agree they can amount to something now?
October 15th, 2023 at 8:57 PM ^
If, as you say, they couldn’t amount to anything under WCF (agreed) then you say ownership matters. So what percentage goes to Sheila?
October 15th, 2023 at 10:59 PM ^
Sheila deserves a TON of credit. Hired Campbell and Holmes, two rather unproven candidates met with plenty of skepticism (especially Campbell) but who she thought was right and gave them all the support in the world to set them up for success. She agreed to finance a ton of behind the scenes upgrades that Holmes and Campbell requested, improving many departments the franchise was lagging behind in. She has been fully engaged in the team BUT without interfering. Exactly what you want in an owner. When the team started rough last season fans started doubting again, but Sheila publicly stuck her neck out saying that she fully believed in the culture that was being built and that they were on the cusp of a turnaround. That was met with plenty of disgust and mockery from fans, but also appreciation from some. Turned out to be pretty prescient.
