OT - Lions

The emotion most associated with watching the Lions has changed from pain  to enjoyment. Weird. Very weird.  I’m 54 and just saw a stat that this is the first time since 1970 they’ve gained 350 yards in their first five games.

Thoughts?

re: Jameson Williams

Jamo has had less than 10 touches in his career, and those include:

  • 40-yd TD catch vs Minnesota
  • 40-yd reverse run vs Chicago
  • 45-yard TD vs Tampa

And that's not including the 70-yard TD vs Green Bay that was called back or when Goff missed him for another long TD against the Jets last season.

Draft busts don't do that. Is he a perfect player right now? No, but people need to get off his back and let him grow.

I understand the frustration and impatience that come with injury recovery and some immature decisions from a 22-year-old kid, but Lions fans should be getting into his corner instead of trying to throw him out of the ring.

And the 13-3 record in their last 16 games is the best since the 1961-62 season.

I’m always cautious with any optimism regarding the Lions but boy have they looked good so far.  It’s been fun.

I got the price I'd have to pay for this post, but I stand by it. This ain't MGoLions. I'm a Michigan grad from NYC, and I will rep my pro teams when you Lions/Tigers fans rep your teams. Yankees/Giants/Knicks!* Neg away!

*Hockey isn't my thing, so I really don't give a rat's ass about the Rangers. I actually admired those Russian Red Wing teams and the way they played a beautiful, flowing game. So...yeah.

Yeah Man get with it, they stopped being the Loins when they ended Rodgers Green Bay Career.

There are the Brand new Detroit Lions, Coached by none other than MC/DC!

If you want to know how I know these aren't the SOL: I'll tell you these guys like to win on the road.

In my lifetime the Lions have never been a road winner, that has done a 180 under Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell!

They just got their #1 WR back and then the top two RBs are out. I see relatively 5 more wins in their schedule and make the playoffs. Obviously we want more. If they can go 2 of next 3, that would be excellent and possibly get them to 12 wins. Looking good.

They have a make of a scrappy team. If everything comes together, they can make a deep run.

I don’t think they’ll win the rest of their games but there literally isn’t another team on their schedule they can’t beat and depending on how the chips fall, they should be favored for each game save Dallas, Baltimore, and maybe NO.

Feels weird typing that out without a /s.

Forward down the field!

I wouldn't include NO, but the most amazing stat I saw today is that Detroit is no 7-1 in their last 8 road games.  Anyway you want to slice that, that is a sign of a very good football team...

But your overall point is right on.  Eleven games remain on their schedule, they will be favored in at least 9 of the 11...  Mind blowing...

I've been watching the Lions since 1967. I don't know exactly when I gave up on them, but I came to believe that they would never amount to anything under WCF. I give Brad Holmes about 65% of the credit. Dan and the coaching staff deserve the rest, Winning the division would be a great step for the organization,

Sheila deserves a TON of credit. Hired Campbell and Holmes, two rather unproven candidates met with plenty of skepticism (especially Campbell) but who she thought was right and gave them all the support in the world to set them up for success. She agreed to finance a ton of behind the scenes upgrades that Holmes and Campbell requested, improving many departments the franchise was lagging behind in. She has been fully engaged in the team BUT without interfering. Exactly what you want in an owner. When the team started rough last season fans started doubting again, but Sheila publicly stuck her neck out saying that she fully believed in the culture that was being built and that they were on the cusp of a turnaround. That was met with plenty of disgust and mockery from fans, but also appreciation from some. Turned out to be pretty prescient.
