Didn't know the Ohio St crowd was that loud on the long Donovan Edwards TD
An angle I hadn't seen before of the TD. Very loud. But Ohio St Fans were disappointed that day!
They started leaving early. You hate to see it.
"I get the feeling that something's coming, a specialty play of some sort, which means Jim Knowles has to have the best series as a defensive coordinator he's maybe had in his life. First year here at Ohio State. This is why he's here. They have to get a stop."
That was what Joel Klatt said before Michigan snapped the ball on that play.
It's beautiful. It's so, so beautiful.
And the "specialty play" was....a handoff to the running back, Michigan's absolute bread and butter. And they gave up a TD. Everything about that moment was amazing.
Yep.
The defense had just bent, but didn't break due to Sanristil's great play. The Buckeye field goal made it a 1 score game again. Buckeyes were full of hope and then bam first play a long TD!
In a way it was a speciality play. It was just a junk, Big 12 specialty play. Jim Knowles tried some totally lame Big12 stunt. Michigan was completely ready for it.
So sneaky of Michigan. Is that specialty play even allowed in the rule book?
Surprised we didn't get flagged for "Intent to Deceive" again.
I laugh and cry outrage whenever I see that line.
We got the best kind of revenge. Twice. :)
One handed running back.
Ransom (#12) had a horrendous day with 2 missed tackles/poor angles on Donovan's long runs. Very similar to DJ Turner's TCU game.
Spoiler alert: they would not get that stop.
I went to the game so I put the broadcast on my DVR so I could watch it later in case I missed something. The commentary is amazing when you know what is to follow. The line you mention tops them all.
That, followed closely by 'they said the kid couldn't throw the deep ball'.
And now the world knows about Mullings' cannon.
Inject this directly into my veins. It still feels so, SO good.
I'm never quite sure if it's my joy or their sorrow that gives me more pleasure.
In 2021, it was a home game and cathartic, so was pure joy.
But this year's game, so much schadenfruede.
For me, both games were great and very joyful in one similar way and in some different ways. The similar way is obvious: by beating them, it opened up our path to win the Big Ten title game and make the CFP. The difference is in what you stated. In 2021, it was beating them for the first time in 10 years, at home, with the iconic scenes of the snow falling and the crowd going nuts all day. You also have to go back to the preseason, in which we weren't ranked by anyone and in which I was one of the more optimistic people by picking us to go 8-4! To go from those types of expectations to what actually happened was almost unreal.
Last year it was finally beating them on their field. Not just beating them, but demolishing them. Seeing their fans in total shock and disarray as we pulled away after they got it to 31-23. And let's go back to the preseason again. We were getting more respect than in 2021, for good reason, yet still being picked by very few to repeat as conference champs.
At the end of the day, I don't really think it's hyperbole to say these are the two best wins of this century.
Agree, 2021 was the ultimate monkey off our back win, and the utter joyfulness of winning at home, and big, and seeing the jubilation of the fans on the field after the game.
2022 was more of a "Hey bitch, last year was not a fluke" in the snow & flu season, game and in utter domination in their house as we bent them over and spanked them HARD! Each was special in the own way. 🥰🥰🥰
I disagree. Without 2022 2021 wouldn't mean much to them. There are probably people reading the blog who have never seen Michigan beat Tsio at home. I think 2022 was more important overall, but the back to back wins just make it special. doesn't matter, both were glorious.
We bent them over and did more than spank them.
For me, it felt cathartic for 2016 when we outplayed them but lost because of biased officiating.
Just lay one big rail of this out on my coffee table will ya.
It has been a long time since I have been able to watch Michigan vs OSU highlights for one season let alone two seasons in a row. I will always upvote any post referencing OSU games in 2021 and 2022. Let’s hope we get even more footage in 2023. Go Blue!
And how prudent to post this on 4/5/23. A great, great day.
Awesome observation!
Ha ha ha. My favorite JJ moment - giving the dirtbag OSU fans the "screw in the light bulb" hand wave. A Michigan classic!
I could watch both of these clips a thousand times everyday for the rest of my life and they would not get old.
That is Michigan induced Columbus, OH football porn that is acceptable for people of all ages to view.
Hope everyone had a great 4/5/23!
Edwards long TD? Which one?
Yeah the OP needs to be specific, I am so god damned tired of these uninformative, incomplete, posts. Which buckeye soul crushing, stake to the heart, slamming the fucking door shut, late 4th quarter, >75 yard Touchdown runs, are you referring to?
/s just in case
You can tell it's the first one because he dodged the free safety on the sideline. On the second one OSU was in cover zero and The Don just shot straight down the field.
Definitely the first one
It's 4 months later and I'm still watching highlights of this game pretty regularly. My guilty pleasure is watching reaction videos on YouTube by osu fans
I've watched the game at least 1/2 dozen times now. It's my go to when I'm looking for a feel good moment. My family thinks I'm crazy.
Try watching the highlights before a big pitch …game face is on !
Just rewatched the extended highlights of both games on Monday, usually watch them every month or two. Occassionaly will watch the full games on Fox app too, can never get enough.
I've thrown the BTN Cinematic of this game on while out walking. All you have to do is listen to get fired up. It's no surprise some of my fastest walked miles are while listening to this.
If I ever get a central line, this better be in it.
That crowd is by far the loudest I've ever been a part of (including any at Michigan Stadium or the Iron Bowl), and will be hard for anyone that wasn't there to truly appreciate the magnitude of impact those fans had on that game.
I was in the Michigan section in the upper bowl, and the difference was jarring when I watched on TV for the first time: no one in the stadium could hear a ref's whistle or ANYTHING all game long, until right about when those fans started shuffling out midway through the 4th quarter. Next time you watch it on DVR, pay attention whenever you hear a whistle, no one in that stadium could hear one.
It was most stark on that drive right before the half when Ryan Day called a timeout. Everyone on the field and in the stands thought that was a live play and couldn't for the lives of us determine why they had stopped play, and on rewatch the whistles were clearly blowing well before the play.
I truly believe those fans spotted that team 10 points that day from noise alone, they were rude and their stadium was old and falling apart, but credit to them where it's due.
Not sure about the noise at the stadium. I am however 100% positive I have enjoyed the last 492 days, every last Buckeye fan I know has been SILENT!
Ohio Stadium has always been loud. Sat in the Michigan section down low in 2000 and it took days for my ears to recover. Probably the only time I've left a football game with a rock concert feeling in my head. Its unreal sometimes.
will be hard for anyone that wasn't there to truly appreciate the magnitude of impact those fans had on that game.
Without their fans, we would have beaten them by four touchdowns instead of three.
I'll always believe this statement...the Maize and Blue came to play!
Full frame and (hopefully) better resolution. Hands down the most beautiful thing I've ever captured with my camera...
Damn. That's almost an orgasmic experience. Amazing video of the best moment ever.
The game has changed so much since I was a kid. The rule changes that favor and encourage passing and the spread offenses stand out the most. Watching a running play that is executed to perfection really warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.
I haven't watched the video yet, but you're going to have to be more specific about which long touchdown run this was.
The 1st long TD....errr, Edwards' 1st long TD or the 4th long Michigan TD.
Ugh I'm confused there were just so many.
Glorious. To be greedy, I would love a version of this slowed down like that old Willie Brown Super Bowl clip.
