Remembered some speculation a couple months ago that Benjamin Hall might not be part of this class.
With him and Cabana in the fold, wonder if that dampens the hopes of flipping RB Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame.
December 21st, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
I think Hall stays in the mix as a bigger short yardage back. We have a LB running those now with Corum out, and it just makes sense to add another head. I doubt Love would change this...but who knows?
December 21st, 2022 at 8:55 AM ^
Could be.
But not sure how many 17/18 year olds say, “I’m signing here to be the short yardage back.”
Edit: Nevermind… Love signed with Notre Dame
December 21st, 2022 at 9:20 AM ^
Yeah - I doubt they are saying he will be a short yard back, but I think thats where he ends up
December 21st, 2022 at 9:53 AM ^
Halls been hurt all year, and I do recall hearing (maybe on. Michigan Insider?) that Hall might not have a committable offer anymore
December 21st, 2022 at 12:42 PM ^
What happened to Braelyn Allen from Wisconsin possibly going into the portal and having an interest in the good guys???
December 21st, 2022 at 9:33 AM ^
Love isn’t coming here. That’s been stated by a few pundits
December 21st, 2022 at 9:40 AM ^
Im happy to see Etta did NOT flip....

MOAR SEMAJI!!!
December 21st, 2022 at 10:07 AM ^
Are there any left? I think we cornered the Semaj market.
December 21st, 2022 at 11:01 AM ^
We are now shifting towards all the Moores.
December 21st, 2022 at 6:08 AM ^
5* OT Kadyn Proctor flipped from Iowa to Alabama. You hate to see it.
December 21st, 2022 at 6:18 AM ^
I would be curious to know just how much NIL played a part considering he is from Iowa and was committed to IOWA. I would guess A LOT. Great flip for Alabama.
December 21st, 2022 at 6:54 AM ^
They probably just told him that Alabama isn't in Iowa and he got excited.
December 21st, 2022 at 7:43 AM ^
Probably compared this weekends weather forecasts.
December 21st, 2022 at 7:51 AM ^
Bama sent their welcoming committee.
December 21st, 2022 at 8:25 AM ^
I’d rather live in Iowa than Alabama, personally. But football-wise…
December 21st, 2022 at 8:35 AM ^
I lived in Bama a couple years in the '90s. Definitely was a slower pace and the people were friendly. Its water was terrible, Michigan has some of the best tasting tap water.
December 21st, 2022 at 9:48 AM ^
Weird criterion

Agua es vida

Fact: New York City has the best tap water in America...if not the world.
December 21st, 2022 at 10:26 AM ^
We have pizza places that ship the water in from Brooklyn to get the pizza crusts just right.

I read that as Dwight Schrute

I'd pick any state with ocean/gulf access over Iowa.
December 21st, 2022 at 8:53 AM ^
Iowa (the state) is vastly underrated my friend, you should try it. No large coastal water access, this is true, but lovely rolling hills and salt of the earth people live here. Plus Michigan comes to play here every few years and we've broken the Kinnick juju so what's not to like?
December 21st, 2022 at 9:06 AM ^
Not that it's bad (I've driven through it plenty), there's just not much that it offers that other states don't do better. If I want rolling hills and friendly people, I'd pick South Dakota, but why settle for rolling hills when you have other states that feature national parks or shoreline?
I also enjoy ethnically diverse states for the food options. Iowa lacks in that department.
December 21st, 2022 at 9:39 AM ^
You really think Iowa doesn’t have French, Italian, Indian, or Mediterranean restaurants?
White people are not all the same. At some point people will realize this when discussing diversity.
December 21st, 2022 at 9:55 AM ^
I didn't say that they don't. Don't put words in my mouth.
I implied that their food is bland.
December 21st, 2022 at 10:06 AM ^
Since we're all sort of waiting around for LOIs to roll in, I'll take the bait and ask, with respect, how many local (non-chain) ethnic restaurants in the state of Iowa have you actually tried? Here in eastern Iowa we have some great local Mexican food, some of the best BBQ I've ever had (seriously, and I love BBQ and eat it a lot when I travel), and Des Moines has some great Ecuadorian food: https://mipatriadsm.com/ as well. Lots of other options that we locals appreciate and enjoy!
December 21st, 2022 at 10:48 AM ^
I'll give the Ecuadorian food a try next time. Thanks for the tip. We did have vietnamese in Des Moines and it was fine and the Chinese and Mexican we've had has been the standard sort of Americanized fare that you see most places (even here in Georgia). I've not seen things like road side jerk chicken shacks, soul/Cajun style food (a lot in the south now since Katrina) or even authentic Asian food (like seeing culantro instead of cilantro served with pho, or finding a Chinese restaurant that serves snow pea leaves or had dim sum) . That's not to say they aren't there, but just that it would have been the kind of thing you have to go out of your way to find. To be fair, Alabama has the same issue with Asian food.
More generally though, there's somewhat of a "loss of flavor" that the extended family has seen while we've traveled the country that kind of parallels how sweet the locals prefer their iced tea. There's just a lower tolerance for seasoning and spices the further north you travel in middle America.
December 21st, 2022 at 11:20 AM ^
He didn't put words in your mouth and, no, you didn't imply blandness...you specifically said lacking in options. That implies lack of choice. Not a word about flavor or taste anywhere.
December 21st, 2022 at 11:59 AM ^
Why else would one say they prefer ethnically diverse food options in a predominantly white/Midwestern state?
December 21st, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
Of course, they only eat corn and pork parts.
December 21st, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
White people are not all the same, true. But nothing can replace true ethnic, racial and cultural diversity -- and Iowa has precious little of those compared to most states. It's a nice place but generally very monolithic. Outside of Iowa City, it's very plain Jane.
December 21st, 2022 at 9:48 AM ^
Des Moines actually has a robust Hindu community and temple (those aren’t cheap to build) and a lot of good Mexican food in the eastern end of the state because of historical migration patterns. And besides that is one of the larger cities in the Midwest. I played ball in Iowa and found it to be one of the best places I’ve lived (Chicago, Brooklyn, Madison, Portland Maine). Small town life in Iowa can be dull but it’s not a godforsaken dump devoid of culture. That’s the state that beings with an “I” on the otherside of Illinois.
Totally respect your preferences MGHB but Iowa is a strong part of the Midwest and deserves some love in a non-football capacity.
December 21st, 2022 at 10:04 AM ^
I'm not saying it sucks. I can appreciate people getting defensive about suggesting Alabama is a better place to live. I presume most people here are midwesterners and not southerners and haven't lived down here.
December 21st, 2022 at 10:25 AM ^
For many years, It was thought to be heaven. It just turned out to be Iowa…
December 21st, 2022 at 10:36 AM ^
Jeezus, I have to wade through this argument in an NLI thread, all of you take your ADD meds.
December 21st, 2022 at 10:22 AM ^
Salt of the earth people. Thanks I needed that laugh this morning.
December 21st, 2022 at 10:27 AM ^
No problem: Just sail down the mighty Mississippi and you're right there.
December 21st, 2022 at 2:51 PM ^
Mississippi is pretty awful, but i guess name checks out.
December 21st, 2022 at 1:01 PM ^
Because there’s no other sane reason to choose Alabama over Iowa.
December 21st, 2022 at 6:18 AM ^
We will come to find out that Saban has the largest payroll in college football after whining last year. The class he is bringing in is ripe with A&M money. But unlike A&M he is super secretive.
December 21st, 2022 at 6:40 AM ^
And he can also actually coach, so yes Bama should continue to be scary good until Satan decides to retire.
December 21st, 2022 at 8:47 AM ^
Saban used to bring in former Bama players to practice against his teams. I wondered if there was a rule that prohibited that. Maybe those former players are some type of assistant (or extra) - and get paid for it.
December 21st, 2022 at 6:32 AM ^
He probably didn’t want to block for a whiny qb
