OT: Clemson's DJ Uiagalelei in the portal after getting benched in the ACC title game
Guess he didn't feel like trying to compete any longer.

I could see him at Tennessee. Same type of player as Milton I think. Great athlete, huge cannon arm, not great accuracy.
December 5th, 2022 at 2:58 PM ^
The few Clemson games I watched, his decision making seemed pretty terrible, despite having a lot of physical gifts.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:02 PM ^
100% agree
December 5th, 2022 at 2:59 PM ^
If Coach Prime hadn't already declared his son would be QB1 at Colorado, would also have been a good landing spot. He's originally a California guy, so maybe UCLA with Chip Kelly?
December 5th, 2022 at 3:09 PM ^
Or Oregon. A spread-to-run team would fit his skillset. Or maybe with Dillingham going to Arizona St, he'd be a fit there (don't know their QB situation as well though)
December 5th, 2022 at 3:55 PM ^
Have to think if he went to Oregon, Dante Moore would decommit. That's a downgrade for Oregon.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:08 PM ^
Good point, I suppose it wouldn't work if they are planning to start Dante from the beginning. My guess is DJ U will go somewhere that needs a starter for one year.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:01 PM ^
Rumors are that Bo Nix will be returning to Oregon next year. That will be interesting to see him and Moore.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:37 PM ^
He would have fit in well at OSU under Meyer's old spread power run offenses.
Guy is built like a tank.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:05 PM ^
Also degenerates unite... Anthony Richardson from UF declared for the draft and is skipping the bowl game. With Jon Kitna's son's problems recently, that only leaves sophomore Jack Miller and true freshman Max Brown on the roster as scholarship QBs. They play Oregon St on Dec 17 in the Las Vegas Bowl. Pound that Beaver line (betting) hard.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:16 PM ^
"Pound that Beaver" is sage advice.
December 5th, 2022 at 5:45 PM ^
If not tone deaf considering the accusations against Kitna.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:21 PM ^
Thanks for the info but I got there late. Line jumped from -4.5 to -9/9.5 in the matter of a few hours.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:28 PM ^
Looks like Florida's looking to spend some NIL money for a transfer QB
December 5th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
that’s crazy to me, Richardson showed nothing this season to warrant a jump to the NFL as a quarterback. He’s a day 3 pick at best.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
He's got everything you want in a pro QB except for, you know, accuracy.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
This guy is going pro? LOL
December 5th, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
The USFL counts.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:29 PM ^
Somethting something ...Josh Allen .. something .. nope
December 5th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
As a fan of all things Beaver I have said this is another thread but a transfer QB would be wise to check out Oregon State. They could win 10 games this year with no passing game to speak of. Good defense. Good running game. Good coaching.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:08 PM ^
On ESPN’s transfer portal thread they suggested he could go to Notre Dame which is all kinds of amusing.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:14 PM ^
Yeah I figured ND will be looking for a QB transfer to start in 2023 and DJ U would be out there
Maybe Marcus Freeman watched that performance a few weeks ago and thought, "I can fix him"
December 5th, 2022 at 3:11 PM ^
Going to OSU. His brother is heavily considering OSU and his parents are very high on the buckeyes. Id be fine with it, if his brother werent ANOTHER 5 star DE
December 5th, 2022 at 3:22 PM ^
OSU just lost their OC, so I could see OSU having some transfers.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
I don't care if they get another 5 star DE as long as they have mediocre QB play. DEs don't score TDs (typically speaking).
December 5th, 2022 at 8:05 PM ^
They do if the refs don't botch the replay review....
December 5th, 2022 at 4:18 PM ^
That seems like an odd destination. I have no idea what OSU's QB room is like, but it does not seem logical to "transfer up" like that after getting benched for poor performance.
However, if a guy like that wants to inject some drama into my rival's locker room, please proceed.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:20 PM ^
Not gonna happen. OSU has too many highly regarded quarterbacks waiting in the wings and Have Raolia's highly touted son coming in soon.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:12 PM ^
You don't want to be benched? Play better... I don't blame Dabo for benching him in the few games he did, DJ never really developed beyond his freshman year. Could be said that's Dabo's fault, but the player has to accept some blame, also.
He'll make some mediocre team slightly better and be hailed as a hero next year.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
I think Dabo's ability to develop QBs is well established. He was super supportive of DJ and very patient. It just is what it is. Not all 5*s pan out, as we know all too well.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:16 PM ^
Tuck comin
December 5th, 2022 at 3:20 PM ^
he's f-ing terrible. if they put in the other guy earlier, they'd be in the playoff.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:22 PM ^
If I were a Clemson fan, I’d be so pissed at Dabo for a wasted season. He had no hesitation pushing out Kelly Bryant, who actually could play a little, for Trevor. And that was 100% the right call.
Gets the same situation with Klubnik and never went to him even when it was clear after Wake Forest he was the best option.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
Shit’s going around
December 5th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Terrible QB. I watched quite a few Clemson games the last two years and never understood his hype.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:23 PM ^
QB U....
December 5th, 2022 at 4:30 PM ^
DJ goes to sparty, mark it down
December 5th, 2022 at 4:39 PM ^
Living in SC and with my daughter attending Clemson, I pay a bit of attention to the program. Good college friend of mine is a beat writer there. DJ is a well loved teammate that everyone on the team loves, that said he could never quite put it all together. He has all the physical tools, but his mechanics aren't great, his accuracy is bad and his decision making isn't great. If he ends up at an upper tier team like Tennessee or OSU as I see suggested here, I don't think he gets off the bench. He would be better served going to a middle or lower tier team that can help him correct his issues and give him playing time. Seems to be a great kid, just can't put it all together.
All that said, as I'm sure everyone noticed, from the moment Klubnik went in for DJ it was a totally different team. They looked more like the old Clemson. Word is that his play at Notre Dame is what kept him from taking over for DJ earlier, he just wasn't quite ready. Looks like he is now.
In general the Clemson fanbase is ecstatic as DJ is the brunt of all the ire from a lackluster season and play. That said, it truly was his play that brought it on starting from last year. Wish him the best and hope he learns how to put his skills to work, but unless he finds the right landing place I don't think it'll happen and he will be in a long list of "what ever happened to that 5 star player?"
December 5th, 2022 at 5:24 PM ^
Was coaching part of the issue / challenge at Clemson? Or, perhaps following Lawrence and trying to meet fan expectations?
December 6th, 2022 at 1:16 PM ^
I don't think it was coaching, its obvious seeing all the other successful QB's they've had and how Klubnik played so well coming in as relief. I honestly think DJ was over rated as a recruit in part, another part was the high expectations and another is sometimes players come into a program and just never seem to blossom. That just might be the case here. Maybe with less limelight or xpectations he would do better.
December 5th, 2022 at 5:22 PM ^
I would like to see DJ land in Columbus or South Bend…
December 5th, 2022 at 5:45 PM ^
Not your Fathers NCAA. Just looked at the dozens upon dozens of players in the portal.
Ray Lewis kid is going to his 4th school.
December 5th, 2022 at 5:46 PM ^
The easy path is someplace else
December 5th, 2022 at 7:21 PM ^
Dumb take. We don’t know all of what’s going on in these kids lives nor do we know what’s best for them.
