Two of the three Cincinnati '23 commits from the state of Michigan are back on the market
Cinci had three of the state's top-12 recruits committed. Two of them decommitted since yesterday.
Brady Drogosh (QB, Warren De La Salle), #6 in the state and the #16 QB nationally, is still as of now committed to Cinci. His 247 page does not list a Michigan offer. Michigan, of course, does not currently have a QB in the '23 class.
Amare Snowden (DB, Roseville), #9 in the state and the #40 DB nationally, decommitted yesterday. His 247 page does not list a Michigan offer. Michigan just recently added their first DB commit.
Khamari Anderson (TE, Cass Tech), #12 in the state and the #25 TE nationally, decommitted this morning. He does have a Michigan offer, and was at least at one time a hard Michigan lean. Michigan currently has one TE commit in the class.
Do you think Michigan is going to push for any of these three? They may just end up following Fickell to Wisconsin, but if nothing else there's an opening to try to add to our class.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:29 AM ^
It would seem a local kid without an offer, committing to Cinci was not going to be offered...
It'll be interesting to see if we make a push for Anderson though.
November 29th, 2022 at 11:30 AM ^
Of the three, he seems at least the most likely since he was offered and at least had interest at one point in playing in Ann Arbor. Outstanding questions are whether he liked Fickell more than he liked the relative proximity of Cincinnati to home, whether Wisconsin has room on their roster, and whether Michigan does.
November 29th, 2022 at 1:13 PM ^
Do they love football? What do their coaches have to say about them?
November 29th, 2022 at 10:31 AM ^
Believe Michigan has two tight ends with Deakon Toneielli and Zack Marshall, so I would guess not on Anderson unless they process one.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:33 AM ^
Argh! You're right. I missed that.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:57 AM ^
It would be difficult for a talented TE to get lost in this program. There will be opportunities to show out.
November 29th, 2022 at 4:08 PM ^
Don’t forget Harbor who if he commits most likely plays flex TE.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:14 PM ^
TE insurance policy? TE depth has been huge this year.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:32 AM ^
Brady will follow Luke to Wisconsin. DB is 50-50 to follow. Michigan is set with the DBs they have taken and a few they are about to wrap up. Anderson is a possibility. Also a strong possibility he ends up at MSU or Wisconsin. Anderson wasn’t a take over some of the other tight ends Michigan was after. Michigan ended up striking out on a few of their higher ends guys, but they are happy with who they have. So it’s questionable whether he is a take. It’s probably 40% Wisconsin, 35% MSU and 25% Michigan. If he’s a take for Michigan now and Michigan reaches out quick, there’s a lot better possibility of Michigan bringing him in.
November 29th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
I’m not sure why M wouldn’t bring in Drogosh just for depth and see what you have. Worst case is he’s fighting with freshman Davis and Davis Warren in 2 years if he beats those two good signing if not he still has 3 years eligibility. Tape looked good just a head scratcher why he hasn’t been offered. I know M was only recruiting Moore at QB for a while but that ship sailed maybe think they don’t need one this cycle. Count me in the take at least one per cycle camp.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:32 AM ^
Ohhhhh nice - I really like Brady Drogosh as a prospect! I hope the staff at least kicks the tires again.
He could be the perfect 2023 QB that has a high floor and is compatible with a high ceiling prospect like Jadyn Davis in 2024.
November 29th, 2022 at 11:26 AM ^
It would be great for us, but not sure why he would come here. JJ* is the starter next year, and then J Davis (alone with Davis Warren, who will be a grown man at that point) will compete to be a starter in 2024.
I don't see how he ever gets out of 3rd position at Michigan, so I'd go to Wisconsin if I were him. Graham Mertz is not good, and the next guy who will be backing him up is currently a true freshman.
*(Whoops -- not Dylan! What a dumb mistake. Too many "D" names on the brain)
November 29th, 2022 at 11:48 AM ^
Dylan is the starter next year? Did I wake up at the end of the 2019 season?
November 29th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
Don't count out Wilton.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
I thought Joe Milton was starting next year?
November 29th, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
I would evaluate them the opposite actually: I think Drogosh has a high ceiling and Davis a high floor
November 29th, 2022 at 4:14 PM ^
Davis can play, I think his ranking would’ve been much much higher if not for some circumstances out of his control like cancer and a worldwide pandemic.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:35 AM ^
The guy I would be interested if I was Michigan is the DB who entered the transfer portal from Cincy. I would imagine Wisconsin and OSU are going to push hard for him. He’s going to be a player and would be a nice addition to Michigan secondary.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:35 AM ^
My gut says - these young men and their families will schedule a visit to Madison. And, IMO, Madison is a great town.
Fickell's introductory press conference and interview on the Big Ten Network were a good "listen". Fickell will be meeting with all of the current Wisconsin players - as well as speaking / meeting with their commits. His approach is straightforward and seems to be a good fit with the Badgers.
It would not surprise me in the least if these three committed to Wisconsin.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:37 AM ^
EJ Holland said Michigan is all in on Jadyn Davis. They are not recruiting any other QB's in the 2023 or 2024 class. Doesn't think they will look at Drogosh.
November 29th, 2022 at 11:13 AM ^
I bet part of the reason the coaches are comfortable with that is the emergence of Davis Warren. Dude can play and I'd like to see how he does after JJ leaves.
November 29th, 2022 at 11:41 AM ^
It still doesn't make sense to skip a class when recruiting QBs, especially in the Portal era. Cade is gone, JJ could leave after next year, and both freshmen are large projects (and what's to keep one of them from looking somewhere else at this point next year?).
I'd think it's in their best interests to look for another guy just in case, no?
November 29th, 2022 at 12:31 PM ^
Michigan will grab someone from the portal next year. Also don’t be surprised if another QB moves positions or transfer after next season.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
Yes and no. We took two QBs last year and while they’re both projects, they’ll be in year 3 before JJ leaves* so one would assume they’re at least serviceable by that point.
Add in J Davis as a true freshmen and possibly Davis Warren (could transfer for playing time).
It still doesn't make sense to skip a class when recruiting QBs, especially in the Portal era.
This goes both ways. While you’re worried about losing current players to the portal, you can also go out and grab players out of the portal to fill holes. I don’t think grabbing a guy just to grab a guy is the way to go as long as you have current depth, which we do.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
JJ will be draft eligible after next season - enjoy him while you can because he won't stay for 4 years.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
I think it depends somewhat. I haven’t seen any draft grades on him yet, but unless you’re a projected top 15 pick I don’t see much reason for a QB to leave early. Depending on where he ends up being projected, I could see him back for year 4. I’m not banking on it, but I wouldn’t say he’s gone for sure yet
November 29th, 2022 at 10:37 AM ^
I wonder if Snowden has a bit more potential than advertised. He spent a good amount of time in HS training for baseball. If that time had been spent solely on football….
November 29th, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
Look at the offer sheet
November 29th, 2022 at 10:47 PM ^
What does that have to do with it?
November 29th, 2022 at 10:37 AM ^
Drogosh would be someone who we should very much consider pushing hard for. He could be a very good college QB and fill in well between JJ and Davis.
Khamari Anderson has the family ties to Raheem, and you can never have too many tight end prospects.
I have coached twice against Snowden and was not impressed with him as a DB. He showed more as a receiver but was not a gamebreaker there as well. I may be bias because his dad who is Roseville's coach is a poor-mans Jermaine Crowell with his recruiting and blatant cheating. He has great size but isn't particularly physical. Also seems to have a bit of a temper (was ejected this year for throwing a punch vs us). Without Tyrell Henry this year (current MSU player) the focus was on him and I just didn't see the 4* player. He actually is a better baseball player than football player. He's a lefty who throws near 90 mph.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:48 AM ^
His baseball training had him working at least as hard on his bat as his pitching. Perhaps moreso.
Though I thought his mechanics at the plate needed work.
November 29th, 2022 at 11:02 AM ^
I wonder how our current freshman QBs are progressing. Maybe one is showing promise. We need an insider....
November 29th, 2022 at 11:53 AM ^
As noted above, the coaches seem really high on Davis Warren, and Jadyn Davis (Hold me, Tom VH!) is a lock to follow him.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:32 PM ^
One of the two scholarship freshman will either move positions next year or possibly transfer to a smaller P5 school.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:40 AM ^
I'd love to see Drogosh land with M! Regarding the earlier comment about M being all in on Jadyn Davis, it would be weird to me if signing Drogosh in '23 was a deterrent to Davis signing. Drogosh may have a fine career, but I wouldn't expect him being a major obstacle to Davis winning the job. And if Drogosh IS a major obstacle, we're probably pretty pleased we have him. This program is all about competition, right?
November 29th, 2022 at 11:35 AM ^
If not Dragosh, someone. We are losing 2 QBs in the offseason, it would be odd not to land at least 1 replacement.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:19 PM ^
Whos the second one?
November 29th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
Apparently Bowman is out of years.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
Hello Dante Moore
November 29th, 2022 at 5:22 PM ^
Not gonna happen, and I'd guess Michigan isn't looking for it to happen at this point. He has superstar potential, but with M, fit is everything. They threw the kitchen sink at him. Kid didn't want to be here. Good luck to him.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:42 AM ^
Hopefully we have some mutual interest here. Always good to get talented players from Michigan and we don’t have many in this class.

MY, HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED

My, how the turn tables!

Their 4 star CB JQ Hardaway is in the transfer portal too….
wouldn’t hurt to kick the tires
November 29th, 2022 at 11:57 AM ^
I think Hardaway would actually be pretty pissed off if Michigan's coaches showed up one day, surrounded his car and started kicking the tires. But that's me...
November 29th, 2022 at 10:58 AM ^
Hard pass on all 3.
Let them go to Wisconsin. It’s like a couple years ago when Wisconsin raided the state it ended up getting Crist fired because as upper class men they weren’t any good.
November 29th, 2022 at 11:11 AM ^
I don't think Michigan is going to go after Drogosh. If they were, they would have done so already.
I don't see Snowden being a fit at Michigan. I haven't been a big fan of his film from 10th/11th grade, though I have not watched any of his senior film yet, so maybe something changed.
Michigan has two tight ends that are better than Khamari Anderson, so I don't think they would go after him. He's Raheem Anderson's younger brother, by the way.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:43 PM ^
Yeah his commitment to Cincy isn’t something that would have kept Michigan from pursuing in the first place. If Michigan was interested, they would have made a move.
Michigan has plenty of QBs on the roster right now and the portal is always an option. Just seems like Michigan doesn’t want to fill the slot just to say they filled the slot.
November 29th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
Passing on Raheem's little brother is surprising to me. Taking siblings is a time honored tradition. I'm sure they have their reasons, of course.
I thought I remembered Sam saying something about M sniffing around Drogosh a few weeks back, and he might be receptive to a flip. I trust your hunch over my memory, Magnus!
November 29th, 2022 at 11:11 AM ^
We won't offer Drogosh for two reasons: 1) we have enough confidence in Davis Warren as our current back-up; 2) the way you get QBs like Davis is by not taking a QB the year prior.
