OT: Dametrius "Meechie" Walker Story
I missed this story on college gameday, but had to seek it out again after seeing Meech introduced to the crowd... I did see the story that Michigan Football did earlier in the summer though.
Really heartbreaking story - but hoping that some medical miracle can help him. For those interested, or who missed the story like I did, I've included links below.
F Cancer. Keep fighting Big Meech!

Fuck Cancer. Go Blue.
Hope Meechie enjoyed the game and goes 42-27 to the BS cancer

Seeing him tear up when he was on the field towards the end of the game almost made ME tear up.
Fuck Cancer.

The feature Fox did pregame was top notch. My wife is not a UofM fan, but we were both choked up over his story.

Definitely want Sparty to lose, but I hate the fake slide by a QB. It's really not fair for the defense and a pretty cheap move by QBs to take advantage of a rule designed to protect them.
Oops. Meant to post in the afternoon games thread.
Fuck cancer and pulling for Big Meech!

I was annoyed they cut off this kid's moment on the field to cut to the on field host nonsense. Bad job by the event staff there.

I said the same! That could have been a huge moment of collective humanity in some ways similar to Veteran of the Game. Instead, 100 yard dash. Or whatever it was.

Loved that segment Fox did on him before the game. As a cancer survivor myself it really hit home. I’m praying for Meechie on the regular.

$150,000 raised for a $35,000 goal. Fuck yeah Michigan money cannon, makes me proud. I hope you beat this thing Meechie.

Love you Meechie.

I have had pleasure of knowing this young man, he has the best smile of any person I’ve ever met. Sometimes you just have to wonder why? He was a great football player and is a great human being, hoping Michigan medicine can find a miraculous cure for Meechie. To see him on the field today is one of the most rewarding things I’ve seen in my life, he loves the wolverines.
If I ever run into coach Harbaugh again, or if any of you do thank him from the Big Reds of Muskegon.

Pregame I saw Charles Woodson spend a good amount of time chatting with Meechie. Looked like they were having a great time.

I rarely cry, yesterday I was in tears. Love this kid and pray for all the extra time in the world for him. Should be right up front for every Michigan game he feels well enough to attend.

Absolutely this. I hope every game he is able to attend we make it happen for him.

Thanks for posting this. I missed the piece during the game and wanted to know a little bit more about him. Go Meech.
