Not good.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
From what I saw the first tweet was an account with 18 followers who tweeted at a certain someone who has no affiliation with Michigan athletics. This would of course mean there’s no substance, but I could be wrong (maybe it was reported somewhere else first).
December 28th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Did he opt out too??
December 28th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
No. And which UM player are you including in the "too" comment?
December 28th, 2021 at 12:21 PM ^
Maybe “too” refers to the numbers of players opting out from other teams. That’s how I originally read it.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:50 PM ^
Yes that’s what I meant
December 28th, 2021 at 12:43 PM ^
Yes he opted out... of the fries and got a salad instead. Went home hungry. Kicked his helmet and broke his toe.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Rumor is covid. Hopefully he is vaccinated and can test negative and fly down there in the upcoming days...
Edit: But I assume he is vaccinated/boosted.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
Isn’t the entire team vaccinated and boosted?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:48 AM ^
The number I saw was that 98% of the team was vaccinated.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
Doesn't matter. I know dozens of people that are max vaccinated and have positive COVID test results. Thankfully, all of their symptoms are very mild (due to the vaccine).
December 28th, 2021 at 1:28 PM ^
I have family visiting for the holidays who are all vaccinated and/or boosted (as is my family) and 5 of ten of us are sick with COVID right now.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
6 of our family party of 11 are positive and several of the ones that aren't still have similar symptoms. Damn this thing is contagious.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:21 PM ^
It may matter if it puts Dax in a different protocol and he can play.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
Vaccinated people are in many if not most places the majority of those infected so you’re right, being vaccinated doesn’t make a positive difference, tThere is no proof, however, the vaccine makes things milder. None at all. All I know is I hope Dax is well.
December 28th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
Oh no! Another moron posting. Please help us!!
December 28th, 2021 at 6:01 PM ^
Nope none of this is fact.
December 28th, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
That is so untrue. I received an email about Traverse City area and the numbers are staggering for unvaccinated. Almost 10-1,.10 being unvaccinated. Stop spreading stupid shit. People like you are making this pandemic continue to exist and you make me sick. Go away.
December 28th, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
If you think the unvaccinated are continuing this pandemic then you would be better off going after 3rd world countries.
December 28th, 2021 at 7:22 PM ^
You are too dumb to live.
December 28th, 2021 at 4:08 PM ^
the common cold is also a corona and they never made an effective vaccine for it, because it mutates so much. Nevermind that this is experimental gene therapy and not a vaccine for the moment, but it should be clear why everyone will test positive. Cannot avoid it.
December 28th, 2021 at 5:34 PM ^
Considering gene therapy is only available in clinical trials, is expensive and extraordinarily difficult, I don’t think “they” are giving away free gene therapy. Is Uncle Ed’s oil shop upgrading every old jalopy to a flying one for free, too?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:50 AM ^
From the espn.com article it said:
Stueber didn't give an exact number, but said the team having a number of players vaccinated, and now getting the booster shot, has meant not having to hold any players out of practice for COVID-19 reasons.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
Might not be boosted, as he could have caught it around/before the time of the team booster.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
i would assume he's simply self-isolating to prevent spreading it
and doing basic maintenance/film study and will test out and fly down before the game
luckily he is maybe the last player on the team who would lose conditioning/speed, so long as he's putting his time in he'll be fine
December 28th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Yeah I saw MJoeBean’s tweet, and it would obviously really suck if true. I understand the media has been limited by how often they can interact with the team this week, due to covid protocols, but this would be a pretty noticeable absence. Shouldn’t at least one beat reporter be able to confirm if this is true or not?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Not an insider but seems to be true based on posts on insider sites. Seems like he may have a chance to clear protocol and make the trip before Friday, but not sure how likely that is.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Apparently it's from a well-known member of the board who's connected. There's a comment about him being sick from someone else. If so, he might be able to come down at a later day?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:43 AM ^
Stud safety misses Orange Bowl? Haven’t seen this before
December 28th, 2021 at 2:13 PM ^
Will half the board take it as fact that he's faking it just to sit out and avoid injury before the draft again?
December 28th, 2021 at 3:01 PM ^
That Orange Bowl was not a playoff game!
Has the reason Peppers couldn't play that game ever been revealed to a certainty?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
The first comment I saw on twitter was from a guy with 8 followers and a feed filled with Q anon leave bullshit. does anybody have something more substantial?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
It seems On3 insiders have confirmed it.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
Well that would be suboptimal, although I guess if there's any silver lining it's that matching up with Georgia is more about strength up the middle than matching elite athletes on the outside.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:18 PM ^
Their best receiving option is a TE who is very athletic and probably someone Dax was going to cover a bit like he did against Nebraska's 6'8 TE.
They also got their best WR back a few weeks ago from an ACL tear which adds depth and their WRs are still athletic.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:04 PM ^
They got their best WR back from injury, but he's now in covid protocols.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:45 AM ^
Not good news. The odds that Dax is the only player infected are also very low, unless he happened to catch it after the team paused activities for the holiday.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:45 AM ^
All that seems to be getting confirmed depending on the site is that he did not make the trip to Miami. But even those insiders said they have no idea if he's for sure not playing.
If it's Covid protocol, I suppose it's possible he clears and comes down in time for game. If he doesn't clear, then my guess is Rod Moore steps in as the Nickel and Moten as the safety opposite Hawkins.
Huge loss, especially when Georgia has a great TE that will be even tougher to cover now. Next man up.
EDIT: He was confirmed to be at the banquet the team had on 12/19 (there's pictures of him). So if it's Covid he would have had to test positive sometime between 12/20 and 12/24
December 28th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
The good news is that if they aren’t sure, it sounds like he tested early enough to clear protocols if he is nonsymtomatic.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:31 PM ^
does the NCAA have different rules than the CDC? If not, it's basically just 5 days unless you have a fever. Even if you have symptoms but the symptoms are "resolving".
December 28th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Hopefully that is the criteria that the NCAA is using.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:39 PM ^
The new CDC guidelines recommends 5 days quarantine only if you are asymptomatic, then 5 days of masking all the time. Curious how that last part works in to playing football (not sarcasm, just wondering how one would adhere to that rule or if it would just be 10 days quarantine anyway).
December 28th, 2021 at 2:46 PM ^
The NCAA policy errs on the side that gets them the most money.
December 28th, 2021 at 4:41 PM ^
The NCAA doesnt have any rules. They have left it on the teams to take care of all of this themselves. The NCAA is not mandating, participating in, or reviewing any teams testing procedures. It is basically left to the competing universities to follow the honor system to maximize the chance of the NCAA getting their games played. Would you be surprised if I didn't exactly trust a couple SEC schools judgement in these regards?
December 28th, 2021 at 11:50 AM ^
Adapt and overcome. That's all you can do and I've doubted this team all season but they've earned the trust to pull it off.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:39 PM ^
This is my stance. Obviously, it would suck majorly to be without Dax, so I hope he is able to suit up and play major minutes. He makes the jobs of his teammates easier. Thankfully, we've played a lot of players on D this year and have seen clear individual growth across the board on defense. All 4 playoff teams will probably lose someone here or there, so we can't start making excuses. If Dax can't play, next man up ... and a preview of the position in regard to next year.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:50 PM ^
Yep, same.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:53 AM ^
I can confirm and deny.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Yes, no, maybe so.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:54 AM ^
From what I heard he did not make the trip due to covid. He does not have symptoms so there is no reason to freak out yet and could still be available.
