OT: Final (who cares) Four open thread
Currently the fighting Art Briles’ are beating the fighting Clyde Drexlers
later the Fighting John Stockton’s take on the some team from LA
Suggs gets the benefit of the doubt any time he's in the open court. It's frustrating to watch
#4 on UCLA just got bopped in the head a couple times with no call.
So UCLA is really good
UCLA doesn't have many points in the paint, but they work the edge of the paint and the mid-range very effectively.
That seems to be the key to their offense.
Fuck you Timmay
Is this a replay of the Michigan game?
It’s 38-34 in the first half. Our game was 51-49 after 40 minutes.
It's a totally different game being played at like 2x the pace. I'm impressed the UCLA can play at this pace and play a 59 possession game like they did against UM
Go Bruins!!! I want to see Gonzaga go down.
So no and-1 prior possession but somehow a foul just there on Gonzaga...
Sugggggs!!!
Butttt another foul in the paint on Gonzaga
Juzang is really good in traffic.
It just doesn't phase him.
That's pretty rare.
Amazing the game total for the first half of this game is only 12 points off the game total for the entire Michigan-UCLA game.
I feel sick after watching that 1st half between Gonzaga and UCLA.
Michigan would've given Gonzaga quite the challenge.
yeah, it looks like Michigan could have played with Gonzaga...
but you never know; UCLA, give them credit - they are making the Zags play to their level...Michigan may or may not have been able to do that...Zags fouling a lot because of the way UCLA mucks it up
Surprised if Juzang doesn't enter the draft...kid looks like a guy that shines brightest when the lights are brightest
I feel the opposite. It makes me feel good knowing that UCLA isn't some terrible team we lost to. They obviously are very good, and are giving an elite team quite a challenge right now. It shows that UCLA is effective at what they do and there's a reason Michigan, Alabama and now Gonzaga have struggled against them.
No doubt, M would easily be within 5 of the Zags at the half.
Not very impressed with the Zags, they don't look like like a next level team at all.
styles make games as they say...
UCLA has been able to force teams to play at their pace, which obviously helps them, especially as they are a throwback team in terms of hunting the 2 point shot.
Michigan might have been able to do that too, but we won't ever know...
UCLA is definitely a good team; Michigan still should have <just> beat them on hitting on their FT avg alone, which has nothing to do with scheme or coaching.
Yeah, the UCLA FT jinx is weird and totally unexplainable.
Im now convinced we had a real shot at a title with Livers. I thought Baylor and Gonzaga were just another level, but I dunno. Feels like we couldve beaten either one if this team at their best showed up
What does Clark Kellogg do for 11 months of the year???
cereal
he's an mgolurker.
even he can't stand rcmb
It's all Samuel Jackson can do in the "In The Annapolis" commercial to not utter "motherfucker".
Michigan by 3
UM 78, Gonzaga 74
78-74 is a 4 point win...
"Staee"
I'd still feel pretty good if I was Gonzaga, their shot quality has been very good and they've missed a lot of looks at the rim. But then again, we've been down this road with UCLA before ....
Capital One execs were probably over the moon to find out the tourney had been moved to Indianapolis because of Covid.
"Yes! We can run the Charles Barkley 'In the Annapolis' ad again!"
Michigan played way better D vs these guys than Gonzaga is. Wtf Gonzaga im pulling for you here
Seems like everyone on UCLA can make jumpshots.
And yet, in our game...Juzang carried the team in the 1st half. Without him keeping UCLA afloat and then giving UCLA the lead, we would've been up at halftime.
Our defense in that game was absolutely undeniably hyper-elite. That's the kind of elite defense national contenders hope for in the NCAAT.
Pace of this game makes our game even more surreal.
Man this UCLA team has an awful lot of similarities to Wisconsin. Just go flying at any contact try to draw a charge
Gonzaga is a top 5 KenPom defensive team? I don't really see it.
Now offensively, yes they are really good.
I REALLY like the way UCLA plays. They are relentless and fearless.
I am bitter about the Elite Eight game, but I can't hold that against UCLA. They aren't the ones that missed 4 shots in a row to win the game, and went scoreless in the last 5 minutes.
Their pace of play is awful. Reminiscent of Wisconsin.
They're on pace to score over 80 points tonight. Not all their games are rock fights.
He has to play it that way. His bench is almost nonexistent.
To UCLA's credit, any time Gonzaga starts to get some breathing room they tighten it back up. It's still a team I don't understand completely how it works this well, but clearly they've got something figured out.
I will say, I look forward to a bunch of Pac-12 teams being grossly over-ranked the begin next year.
Timmay is annoying but so solid. Kevin McHale old school footwork.
Hopefully Dickinson matures into having some of those moves.
Hook and takedown
that's the kind of stuff UCLA does... that's why I dislike UCLA... they are the kind of team that would do a dong punch in a scrum
Oh hey we're enforcing hook and holds this week.
That looked familiar...
So Gonzaga gets the hook and hold that Dickinson didn't.
Makes sense.
Hook and hold huh, that get put into place today? Apparently that wasn’t a thing on a few days ago
Would have been nice to call that hook n hold in our game. Why didn’t they go to the replay then?
Gonzaga had a fast break to push the lead to 9, instead it might be 2 in a minute.
Izzo created a monster with his halftime meltdown. UCLA had been on the ropes.
