Nebraska is now trying NOT to play
Poor ole Nebraska, champions of demanding that games be played is now attempting to get out of playing Oklahoma on 9/18 per Brett McMurphy of stadium.
I for one, cannot stand Nebraska so seeing them humiliated on or off the field makes me laugh.

Is this real? If so...wow Scott Frost.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:18 AM ^
Is this because they would rather have a home game for finances?
March 12th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
The game was scheduled in Lincoln.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:31 AM ^
Yep...they just don't want Oklahoma to kick their ass, let alone on their own turf.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s weak they are trying to back out. On the other hand, Frost knows he’s on the hot seat, so a guaranteed loss out of conference play is probably something he wants to avoid if he can control it. Still lame though.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:04 AM ^
Were I an alum, I'd be far more embarrassed by this pansy move than a bad loss on the field.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:32 AM ^
I’d think if you were an alum, you probably have found something better to do with your Fall Saturdays.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:54 AM ^
How did you arrive at that?
Nebraska's own website shows the game is scheduled to be played at OK.
https://huskers.com/sports/football/schedule
Regardless of where the game is supposed to be played, it's gutless weaseling out of rekindling one of the great historic rivalries in college football history.
I know Nebraska stinks but Oklahoma always drops a bad game to a weak team early in the year. If I'm Nebraska I would want it on the schedule in case that happens. If you pull off a victory thats a big W for your program, especially when Oklahoma is in the conversation for the CFP at the end of the year.. If not - no one was expecting them to beat Oklahoma anyway.
You're wrong
March 12th, 2021 at 10:20 AM ^
This hits deep.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:21 AM ^
well, if they do play.... no matter the score, the huskers will out hit them
March 12th, 2021 at 10:28 AM ^
From that twitter thread:
Nebraska: We demand to play football
Also Nebraska: NOT LIKE THAT
March 12th, 2021 at 10:29 AM ^
Sad.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
Can we try to NOT have them in the Big 10?
March 12th, 2021 at 11:13 AM ^
Oddly, they're my favorite of the new additions. I'd be happy if we kept Nebraska and kicked out all the other teams that have joined since 1945 (Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State and Michigan State).
I'm only half joking.
+1
I HATE Rutgers and Maryland in the B1G. They do NOTHING for the conference.
I was okay with Penn State until Sandusky. But turns out, we're no better.
Moo U. is a glorified MAC team.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:35 AM ^
Hate both programs OU has good seasons because they play in a weak ass conference Nebraska is arrogant even though they suck. OU would probably win the game so Nebraska will look for a low level team they can actually beat
March 12th, 2021 at 10:53 AM ^
Oklahoma football = Kansas basketball
March 12th, 2021 at 10:39 AM ^
I'm a little surprised, honestly, we're not seeing more of this.
Michigan hosts Washington, Oklahoma hosts Nebraska, Ohio State hosts Oregon this year (among other high-profile home-and-homes). Of course, the games were supposed to occur in the other spots in 2020.
The school that was supposed to host in 2020 and is on the road in 2021 --- they did lose out on some $$$. Of course, ALL schools lost a bunch of gate $$$ in 2020, but some more than others have less of a chance to recoup in 2021.
Colorado was supposed to play at Texas A&M in 2020. That didn't occur, the 2 schools agreed to move the 2021 game from Boulder to Denver (Invesco Field) for monetary reasons.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
Agreed. Let’s also consider that while this marquee games make the schools a lot of money, no one wants an out of conference loss anymore. Losses are too damning in college football.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:06 AM ^
They're much more damaging when you have a winning team. Scott Frost should try learning to beat Purdue or getting a .500 record before worrying about non-conference losses.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:38 AM ^
Well obviously. The point is, he doesn’t control the conference schedule. He sucks and his team is not good. I’m sure he’s trying to weasel out of this game(loss) because he feels that he can. This could very well be his last season at Nebraska so he’s getting desperate to minimize losses. Since he can’t do that on the field, he’s trying to do it off of it. I’m saying this is probably his mindset, I’m not supporting it though.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:53 AM ^
The notion that OOC losses are more damaging today to NC hopes than they were 40 years ago is hogwash.
Yep. The committee used to consider SoS as a part of their formula in the early days. Now you cannot even find a mention of SoS the CFP website. The playoff has become a bigger beauty popularity contest than the BCS ever was. An OCC loss to a good opponent early in the season has marginal impact if any.

Nebraskas athletic department has been very annoying as whole making it easy to hate them. I personally don’t hate them as much as others. The big ten is better if Nebraska become good. As bad as we’ve been at least we’re not Nebraska.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:41 AM ^
Nebraska reminds me of the person whose dad owned a quarry in their small town, and thought they were the shit.
Then they moved to the big city, and they are struggling to realize that they don't actually matter in the real world.
March 12th, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
That is a really specific example,

Is Scotty on the hot seat yet? He's 12-20 in 3 years and now is afraid to play Oklahoma at home.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:30 AM ^
But 32-0 in hitting!

Lol. Fuck Nebraska

Husker fans here in Omaha have been pretty damn quiet the last 2 or so years. It's pretty nice. It warms my heart to see what sad pathetic losers they, along with Scott Frost are.
The worst fan in Lincoln is 100x better than the best fan in East Lansing or Columbus. You don't have it that bad.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:06 AM ^
What an embarrassing program to have in the B1G.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
Nebraska.....we demand to play!!!!
Nebraska.....well not them !!!!!
March 12th, 2021 at 11:12 AM ^
They deserve all the contempt they get for this.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:14 AM ^
In all honesty, I'm pretty shocked by the lack of success Frost has had.
He looked to be a rising star after his time with UCF. It seemed like a match made in heaven.
I'm starting to think that his one great year at Central Florida masked up a lot of his skill as an HC. Very similar to Hoke and his great season at Ball State (even though he did have more of a resume at that point.)
March 12th, 2021 at 11:35 AM ^
His "miracle turnaround" at UCF was really misleading. George O'Leary was winning there (12-1 in 2013) but then there were major internal problems in 2015 and his players quit on him. UCF went 0-12 and O'Leary was fired, but everyone knew they had the talent. Frost got the team to buy in and they started winning again. It showed that he could win over a locker room, but didn't prove he could build a program. At Nebraska he's had to actually build a program and he's struggling.
Also very similar to Gary Barnett's trajectory...
... or hell, even RichRod's (talking about coaching only -- not being able to keep it in his pants).
March 12th, 2021 at 11:17 AM ^
I know we all crap on Rutgers and Maryland joining the conference but Nebraska is BY FAR the least appealing addition to the Big 10. They're academically behind everyone else, their two "major" sports are mediocre-to-bad, they aren't helpful in terms of recruiting, and they aren't even a cash generator. If they left next year I'd be fine with it but my guess is that no major conference wants to touch them either.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
A curious move. Back in the day, Nebraska-Oklahoma was one of the major national rivalries.
March 12th, 2021 at 11:33 AM ^
I thought this was about basketball trying to weasel out of the BTT. Now that I see its football trying to weasel out of a natural, blue-blooded rivalry that CFB has been missing for decades... Well, it's more infuriating than anything else.
The world of CFB needs OU-UN as a football rivalry. CFB itself is so hereditarily biased that it needs its old national rivalries - UM-OSU, UF-FSU, UT-OU, USC-UCLA, UN-OU, UT-ATM... That we don't have several of these anymore is one of the tragedies that big money in the sport has spawned.
March 12th, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
Scott Frost's mom cannot be happy ??
March 12th, 2021 at 12:37 PM ^
OU will destroy them and it will be fun to watch!
