Indiana Removes Big Ten Logo from Jerseys, Helmets Prior to Outback Bowl

I didn’t know Hooters restaurants still existed.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:54 AM ^
I really do get cravings for their Buffalo chicken sandwich, curly fries and cheese dip and boobs.
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:57 PM ^
One of these things is not like the other...
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:33 AM ^
After yesterday's games it is hard to have that much sympathy. They are a good team and on the rise but better than Northwestern and OSU is not going to get many supporters.
We'll see how things go down the line.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:36 AM ^
Good for them.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:37 AM ^
Good. Big Ten only serves OSU in football and MSU basketball and ignores the rest of the conference. It is such bullshit.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:58 AM ^
Of course. And it worked. Anyone expecting them to change their tactics when they're obviously working is crazy.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
I don’t have any issue with them doing this. They were having a special (for them) year. Does anyone honestly think Northwestern would have beaten them? I think they have less of an argument about not playing in the BIG Champ game, but they absolutely should have played in the Citrus bowl and the BIG screwed them.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:03 AM ^
Anybody who's a true Michigan fan who "supported" the Big Ten on the osu situation is NOT a true Michigan fan.
Good for Indiana for sending a subtle message.
If they would have sent a big message, the Big Ten would have punished them and helped osu again.
Go Blue.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
I wouldn’t be surprised if IU doesn’t get some form of blow back from the Big Ten....but good for Tom Allen. I respect his position.
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:42 PM ^
Wouldn't surprise me at all if IU starts next season with OSU, PSU, and a crossover with Wisky... nothing like starting the season 0-3.
January 2nd, 2021 at 6:26 PM ^
Scheduling is done years in advance
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:06 AM ^
Not so subtle shade.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
Good for them.
This is the year college football died for me. Look forward to Alabama, Clemson, OSU, and either Notre Dame or Oklahoma in the final 4 next year. The competitive edge these schools have over the others is night and day and it is no longer fun to watch anymore.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:18 AM ^
If they don’t expand the playoff to at least 8 and really need 12, college football will die a slow death. Let’s get more teams involved to spread the talent to more than 5 or 6 teams across the country.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:26 AM ^
The playoff isn't the problem, and I'd argue that it's part of the problem.
The real problem is rampant cheating and little to no enforcement of rules.
As-is we should stop calling it 'college' football. It seems tat the majority of players at the top level don't do much colleging.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:32 AM ^
That has been the case from the beginning. Read Duderstadt's book. Many of the early college football teams were composed of individuals who weren't even enrolled in the schools. The whole notion of "student-athletes" is a facade. If that's the case, let's crater these stadiums, slash coaching salaries, slash all the capital projects, swanky facilities, cancel the bowl games and tv contracts, etc. Cancel the licensing and clothing contracts too. Otherwise, treat it for what it is and what is has been: another form of mass entertainment.
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
Yes, correct, it always has been a form of mass entertainment.
Problem: No longer entertaining.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:16 AM ^
Indiana really needs to shut up.
They didn't beat one good team.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
By Indiana, what or who do you mean?
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:18 AM ^
I say remove the B1G logo from everything, not just jerseys.
That includes removing it from the field at the Big House. Never understood why it had to be added. We know what conference we’re in.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:22 AM ^
Good. The big 10 behavior toward them is bullshit.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:43 AM ^
Should we be worried that IU is leaving the Big Ten?
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:46 AM ^
I like salty Indiana, it's fun
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
Petty as hell.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
Good for them.
And even if they didn’t, having a conference logo is stupid as hell on uniforms. It started with the SEC cult, and spread to all the conferences.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Good for them. Refuse to put any Big Ten gear on any football uniforms. Remove it from the field. Remove it from all athletic uniforms and venues. When the Big Ten threatens them with fines for not following conference guidelines, make a huge deal about how the conference did not follow conference guidelines. And promptly refuse to pay the fines.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Good for them
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:39 PM ^
Screwed by the big ten? They played Ohio state and lost. Anyone with a brain knows they are the better team. If they had gone over Ohio state the fuckeyes would have been the one screwed not them. Fuck Ohio state
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:39 PM ^
They should also be so bold as to return their share of the B1G revenue for the 2021 season when the pandemic is at its nadir and they return to being 5-6 in a non-black swan event year.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:40 PM ^
I suppose this means they’ll be declining their share of conference bowl money. Yeah, right.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:41 PM ^
Let Indiana and Nebraska, Rutgers go and replace with Texas, Oklahoma and Notre Dame or Syracuse.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:44 PM ^
Watch the fine print of the BigTen Revenue Sharing Contract says that uniforms have to have the B1G logo.
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:06 PM ^
Good for them.
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
Tom Allen's current record at IU is 24-21. If he left IU after this season, he would be the first IU coach since Bo McMillin (1934-47) to have a winning record in Bloomington.
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:10 PM ^
When the tv checks are issued, the big will have no problem deducting a fine from iu
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
Ok, the Big10 (Kevin Warren) made a ton of mistakes this year but "screwed out of playing in the BIG10 Championship game?"
A couple of points here...
First, Indiana was closed down with Covid and couldn't even have played in the Big10 Championship game.
Second, if you think after watching Ohio St. vs. Clemson last night, that Indiana should have gone OVER A TEAM THEY LOST TO, I don't know what to say.
As for getting screwed out of a New Year's six game, I think Tom Allen smokes the good stuff. Dabo Swinney can confirm that this crap can backfire. If Indiana loses to Ole Miss today, Allen looks like a moron.
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:28 PM ^
Indiana needs to quit crying. Ohio State was a better team and proved it on the field. Does anyone reasonably believe that Ohio State would have had trouble with any team they could not play because of Covid?
There was no way Indiana was going to represent the East after losing to Ohio State in the B1G Championship game. If the situation was reversed, Indiana would have gone to Indy instead of Ohio State.
Ohio State won the B1G. Northwestern was the runner up. Here's a news flash Tom Allen, Michigan would have been to Indy a couple of times if they played in the West. Well this season, you caught a back seat to Northwestern. Next time beat Ohio State and you won't have to pout and act like a baby.
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:40 PM ^
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:41 PM ^
While the B1G is a clownshow, I’d love to watch them take IU’s allocation of conference revenue from the postseason and give it to the rest of the members. Between this, their routine catering to OSU, and Nebraska’s antics around Covid-related season cancellation, how much longer do you think the B1G remains publicly unresponsive to members punking them?
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:42 PM ^
Again?!?!?
January 2nd, 2021 at 3:08 PM ^
If you're going to squawk about allegedly being unfairly kept out of the BIG Championship game by the conference, it doesn't help your case to give up almost 400 yards of offense in less than 3 quarters to a 4-5 team.
January 2nd, 2021 at 6:29 PM ^
You mean like the 48 points Ole Miss put up against Alabama earlier this year??
January 2nd, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
In the future it might be better to actually win the bowl game you are playing in instead of complaining about the one you are not playing in.
January 2nd, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
Note to Tom Allen and Dabo Swinney:
Shut your fuck nugget mouth.
January 2nd, 2021 at 5:42 PM ^
I like it. It’s something JMFH would have done. Our current dignified monsieur Harbaugh won’t even get upset with the refs.
