Indiana Removes Big Ten Logo from Jerseys, Helmets Prior to Outback Bowl

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on January 2nd, 2021 at 10:09 AM

They get screwed out of playing in the B1G Championship Game, and then they get screwed out of playing in a New Year's Six game.

And Tom Allen says the logo removal doesn't mean anything.

Riiiiiiiight.

After yesterday's games it is hard to have that much sympathy. They are a good team and on the rise but better than Northwestern and OSU is not going to get many supporters.

We'll see how things go down the line.

I don’t have any issue with them doing this. They were having a special (for them) year. Does anyone honestly think Northwestern would have beaten them? I think they have less of an argument about not playing in the BIG Champ game, but they absolutely should have played in the Citrus bowl and the BIG screwed them.

Anybody who's a true Michigan fan who "supported" the Big Ten on the osu situation is NOT a true Michigan fan.

Good for Indiana for sending a subtle message.

If they would have sent a big message, the Big Ten would have punished them and helped osu again.

Go Blue.

Good for them.

This is the year college football died for me.  Look forward to Alabama, Clemson, OSU, and either Notre Dame or Oklahoma in the final 4 next year.  The competitive edge these schools have over the others is night and day and it is no longer fun to watch anymore.

That has been the case from the beginning.  Read Duderstadt's book.  Many of the early college football teams were composed of individuals who weren't even enrolled in the schools.  The whole notion of "student-athletes" is a facade.  If that's the case, let's crater these stadiums, slash coaching salaries, slash all the capital projects, swanky facilities, cancel the bowl games and tv contracts, etc.  Cancel the licensing and clothing contracts too.  Otherwise, treat it for what it is and what is has been:  another form of mass entertainment.

I say remove the B1G logo from everything, not just jerseys.

That includes removing it from the field at the Big House.  Never understood why it had to be added.  We know what conference we’re in.

Good for them.

And even if they didn’t, having a conference logo is stupid as hell on uniforms. It started with the SEC cult, and spread to all the conferences.

Good for them. Refuse to put any Big Ten gear on any football uniforms. Remove it from the field. Remove it from all athletic uniforms and venues. When the Big Ten threatens them with fines for not following conference guidelines, make a huge deal about how the conference did not follow conference guidelines. And promptly refuse to pay the fines.

Screwed by the big ten? They played Ohio state and lost. Anyone with a brain knows they are the better team. If they had gone over Ohio state the fuckeyes would have been the one screwed not them. Fuck Ohio state

They should also be so bold as to return their share of the B1G revenue for the 2021 season when the pandemic is at its nadir and they return to being 5-6 in a non-black swan event year.

Tom Allen's current record at IU is 24-21. If he left IU after this season, he would be the first IU coach since Bo McMillin (1934-47) to have a winning record in Bloomington.

Ok, the Big10 (Kevin Warren) made a ton of mistakes this year but "screwed out of playing in the BIG10 Championship game?"

A couple of points here...

First, Indiana was closed down with Covid and couldn't even have played in the Big10 Championship game.

Second, if you think after watching Ohio St. vs. Clemson last night, that Indiana should have gone OVER A TEAM THEY LOST TO, I don't know what to say.

As for getting screwed out of a New Year's six game, I think Tom Allen smokes the good stuff.  Dabo Swinney can confirm that this crap can backfire.  If Indiana loses to Ole Miss today, Allen looks like a moron.

Indiana needs to quit crying. Ohio State was a better team and proved it on the field. Does anyone reasonably believe that Ohio State would have had trouble with any team they could not play because of Covid?

There was no way Indiana was going to represent the East after losing to Ohio State in the B1G Championship game. If the situation was reversed, Indiana would have gone to Indy instead of Ohio State.

Ohio State won the B1G. Northwestern was the runner up. Here's a news flash Tom Allen, Michigan would have been to Indy a couple of times if they played in the West. Well this season, you caught a back seat to Northwestern. Next time beat Ohio State and you won't have to pout and act like a baby.

While the B1G is a clownshow, I’d love to watch them take IU’s allocation of conference revenue from the postseason and give it to the rest of the members. Between this, their routine catering to OSU,  and Nebraska’s antics around Covid-related season cancellation, how much longer do you think the B1G remains publicly unresponsive to members punking them?

If you're going to squawk about allegedly being unfairly kept out of the BIG Championship game by the conference, it doesn't help your case to give up almost 400 yards of offense in less than 3 quarters to a 4-5 team.

In the future it might be better to actually win the bowl game you are playing in instead of complaining about the one you are not playing in.
