Hey thanks for the shout out.
And if you have the time (and inclination) you can review my posts on this particular subject which have remained absolutely consistent since mid-March.

Curious about your feelings toward China's government and their handling of the virus that they spread to the rest of the world and tried to cover up and blame on others. I agree Trump and other leaders have handled this poorly, but strangely I see almost no one throwing blame at the origin. In many cases, I see them defending China. Seems odd like these folks care more about the political aspects of the virus and spinning the issue in a way that supports their own politics rather than looking at the big picture and seeking out the objective facts and root causes to all this. The psychology of it all is very interesting. I don't think I'm above it all either. I have my own politics and it's hard not too get swept up into it, but at least I'm self aware enough as a Koala to at least try to look at things in a nuanced way rather than picking a side and moralizing my point of view so that al those who disagree are evil extreme left or right yadda yadda. It's all predictable and highly uninteresting discourse when it devolves to that level.
August 10th, 2020 at 2:04 PM ^
China certainly covered up the extent of what the virus can do - and the entire world (along with the WHO) knew it, yet Trump repeatedly praised Xi Jingping for his handling of it. I mean, it's glaringly clear that Trump loves him some Xi Jingping...
"“He’s now president for life, president for life. And he’s great,” Trump said, according to audio of excerpts of Trump’s remarks at a closed-door fundraiser in Florida aired by CNN. “And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday,” Trump said to cheers and applause from supporters."
August 10th, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
Also it's possible that he's trying to keep his enemies close and not piss off the leader of a powerful country. Perhaps he was joking with his supporters as he is want to do. Also maybe Trump wants to be an evil dictator and be president forever. He also calls it the China virus so not exactly considerate of their feelings. I don't subscribe to the "Trump is playing underwater 3D chess" narrative, but these are all possibilities. The fact that you can only talk about China if you then follow it with "But Trump . . ." qualifier Is telling. Biden and the other Biden called stopping travel to China xenophobic, but it was exactly the right move. Biden said "We have to take care of the cure, that will make the problem worse no matter what!". Clearly, he has a good plan. At least Trump knows where he is and doesn't try to have conversations with pre-recorded video questions. See . . . I can play that game too. Point is, nobody was going to handle this perfectly. All the candidates suck. By bye sports. 2020 will do us in I'm sure.
August 10th, 2020 at 5:53 PM ^
Both candidates suck - my preference didn't make it through the Primaries. So we have that in common! But you're giving Trump too much credit. WAY too much credit. He was doing nothing more than praising a dictator he fell in love with - just like with Putin. And they play him for the idiot he is.
I never said 'but Trump'... China has lied, and Trump praised them anyway. And he didn't "ban" Chinese travel - pay attention! He banned Chinese Nationals from entering the US while still allowing US citizens to travel freely around China and return home without any questions.
I'm sure you're one of the people that think his recent Executive Orders are good news, right? FYI - the unemployment order effectively makes states have to rebuild their payment system, so it won't have any affect for months (at best). And the eviction moratorium only directs landlords to consider whether they should evict someone. It's all word bashing to get his uneducated base excited, over nothing.
August 10th, 2020 at 10:35 PM ^
Your extrapolating a lot from one comment. Trump has not praised China the vast majority of the time. What your saying only might be right if a million other assumptions are true. You didn't literally say "but Trump", but you couldn't say anything bad about China without then redirecting toward him. And you said, "yet Trump". Wow that's so different. That was my whole point about China and people deflecting the blame. Im not in favor of any executive orders. Too much power in one person's hands. So you would have rather he ban U.S. citizens from returning to the country? It doesn't matter what he does, you would find the negative spin. I like taking the opposite viewpoint and trying to find its strengths so I can better understand and strengthen my own arguments. I'd love to hear 3 or 4 things you think Trump has done well. Most folks have a hard time steelmanning their opposition. Nuanced open conversation is rare these days. You assume I support his executive order bc you've bought into the idea that all Trump supporters are blind thoughtless lunatics. Dude, we have two option every 4 years at the voting booth. Both options usually suck so maybe folks should get off eachother's backs for picking the "wrong" candidate. Most people probably are just decent and trying to get along in this world!and not the radical blind supporters you see on the news. The politicians and media wants us divided bc it catches more eyes. It's to their benefit bc they know we do have to literally pick a side every 4 years.
August 10th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
I'm not supporting Trump or anti-maskers as I won't vote for him or not wear a mask in public, but we also don't know whether or not those things would've made a difference in this specific case. Certainly would've helped our chances of having a season, that's for sure - but the blaming them (and him) for something that you can't be sure of, is over simplifying a complex issue. But, as with most emotional responses - gotta blame someone or something.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
I'll drink to never having to watch Justin Fields play a second more of football
Due time for OSU to have a shit qb
August 10th, 2020 at 2:15 PM ^
I think we were all looking more forwards to the 2021 season anyways...
August 10th, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
As long as Ryan Day is in town, OSU will be fine at the QB position. He changed the offense's identity for Dwayne Haskins, changed it again for Justin Fields, and the QB room isn't exactly lacking talent for the 21' season.
Sigh.. I wish we could just argue about the team's likely W/L records like normal OSU/UM fans.. now we're looking at no season at all.
August 10th, 2020 at 7:16 PM ^
That's not what I heard...
August 10th, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
Very disappointed but not surprised...could see the dominos falling over the last few weeks.
https://wolverineswire.usatoday.com/2020/08/10/freep-big-ten-cancels-2020-college-football-season/
Will the NFL be far behind?
Tempting to wish for that Adam Sandler remote control to fast forward to August 2021! Will sort of be glad when 2020 is in the rear view mirror.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:20 PM ^
People, don't make this political. You can agree or disagree with the decision, and yet still be mad/sad there will be no football this fall. Seriously, get a grip on yourselves...
August 10th, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
Thank you the political stuff is stupid and annoying...people please to go one of the gazillion forums out there for these types of comments.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:34 PM ^
The season cancellation is a direct result of our president having the emotional maturity and leadership skills of a bratty 9-year old, so yeah... political commentary seems relevant here.
August 10th, 2020 at 1:23 PM ^
How do you know with 100% certainty that we'd be having a season if it was handled better? It's a rhetorical question - you don't. Better chance? Definitely. But don't come on here and make a statement of fact that you can't back up.
August 10th, 2020 at 1:36 PM ^
Are you claiming the fact that other countries are having sports is just a coincidence?
August 10th, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
So there's some established global threshold of cases/infection/death rates of, "let's have sports or not"? If there is, can you share that?
August 10th, 2020 at 2:02 PM ^
Other countries that handled this better are in fact having seasons.
I don't know what your deflection has to do with anything.
August 10th, 2020 at 2:36 PM ^
How was it deflecting at all? I asked a direct question of which you provided no answer and you still haven't even correctly answered my original question because you can't. Nobody can.
Nobody knows with 100% certainty that we'd be having a season has someone more capable been in charge. What if the CDC didn't have it's head up it's ass for months? What if Trump came out from day one with an actual plan? All things that certainly WOULD'VE helped, but not a guarantee.
August 10th, 2020 at 3:44 PM ^
Other countries that handled this better are in fact having seasons.
This is pretty strong proof your 100% certainty nonsense not withstanding.
August 10th, 2020 at 4:58 PM ^
Great point. You really got me there. I can't run a controlled experiment with an exact replica of our country, but a different president. So therefore I can't deduce anything from the fact that our president spews out conspiracy theories that his followers believe, instead of taking steps to control the virus.
August 10th, 2020 at 1:26 PM ^
Wouldn't matter who the president is, we would still be living through a pandemic, WITH NO VACCINE, and therefore we will not have contact amateur sports this fall and probably winter.
So no, there is no direct nor indirect correlation to whom the current president is and not having sports. But if it makes you feel better, go ahead.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:38 PM ^
Oh so NOW you want to be the voice of reason....lol.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:21 PM ^
Will a potential full academic year without sports open eyes and make athletic programs an afterthought to academia rather than the focus they have become?
August 10th, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
FUCK EVERYTHING. I DONT DRINK OR DO DRUGS BUT DAMN I MIGHT NEED SOMETHING TO DROWN MY SORROWS IN.
On the flip side, we don’t have to worry about getting fisted by OSU.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:32 PM ^
Ty: Do you do drugs Danny?
Danny: Everyday sir.
Ty: Good.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
There are actions, reactions and revisions being made all over the place. I cannot imagine OSU not playing. Will an alternative path be made for the more high profile programs???
August 10th, 2020 at 12:40 PM ^
Well apparently the OSU President voted with the majority...so I take that as 'OSU is not playing either'.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
My feelings about football season being cancelled are the same as the USPS being gutted:
This all could have been avoided.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
Perkis has it. Fans are disappointed, all of us. But the players are most impacted personally. They have the college experience, the work and hopefully graduation, but not their sport.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
It sucks, but at the same time, it'll be fine. College football will be back next year, or the year after. Eligibility will be stretched so that players are effected as little as possible. There was a path to play, but we never took it. The leadership in this country let this virus run amok. The leadership in college sports (the NCAA) sat on their hands.
Harbaugh released a statement on #wewanttoplay and #wewanttocoach that made a lot of great points, for Michigan to play. But Michigan is only one data point, 1.5% of the entire power 5 plus ND. Enough of the other data points screwed up and now Michigan can't play.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:31 PM ^
Maybe I’ll get some shit done this fall then.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:50 PM ^
True but that's what I'm afraid of! Will sorely miss my lazy Saturday afternoons of watching Michigan football though.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:32 PM ^
It sucks.. I can't help but feel the most sorry for a guy like Nico Collins who could've gone pro (and presumably played this year), and got paid. I wonder if there will be some sort of supplemental draft for these types of guys, but this dragged on so long that it is probably not possible at this point.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:54 PM ^
He may be in better shape to declare this year, regardless. Especially if no one else plays. Last year’s WR draft class was historically deep, and I doubt it’s as deep this year. He’s got a shot to go a lot higher even with no season.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:35 PM ^
Knew it was coming for months, so I've been numb about it being canceled for a while.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:35 PM ^
As much as it sucks that the season is going to be cancelled, 162k+ Americans have losing their lives, 5M+ have testing positive while who knows how many more have contracted and have no idea & will have to deal with varying degrees of long term issues and 5-6 months in, there still is no cohesive Federal strategy sucks a lot more.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:37 PM ^
I don't know what to tell you, man. This was always the most likely outcome so I can't say I'm surprised and honestly it barely even registered with me when I saw the threads last night. I feel awful for the players and coaches but as for me, my emotions are summed up like this:
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
August 10th, 2020 at 12:40 PM ^
Please feel free to share your emotions upon learning that 160,000 & counting Americans have died from COVID-19.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
If the entire country did what New York did we’d be well on our way out of this mess right now.
But no - people needed to go to bars and Home Depot.
Vote.

Cue the inevitable and completely predictable tweet from Justin Fields saying he’s met with all of OSU’s draft-eligible underclassmen and they’ve all made the decision to not declare for the draft or transfer, and that they will be suiting up for OSU in 2021.
