Politics and everything else…

Politics and everything else aside... What even is Schilling's case to get into the HOF? That he played a game with a scrape on his ankle? Wow... what a warrior!

He went to 5 all-star games in a nearly 30 year career, and never won a cy young. How is that a HOF resume?

Neat. But so what?

Is this…

Neat. But so what?

Is this a Michigan site or a "We're obsessed with State" site?

SEC bias is a factor in…

SEC bias is a factor in human polls. Not in computer programs written by some dude who only cares about things like yards per play and other measurable stats.

How is it "defeatist and…

How is it "defeatist and weak"? He's just indicating that he's focusing on process goals instead of outcome goals. That seems pretty reasonable.

The real issue is the lack of communication that he's delineating between process goals and outcome goals. The reality is that everyone should be focusing on process goals, and only using outcome goals as a "north star" to keep their process focused in a certain direction.

You can always just... not…

You can always just... not read the comments.

Great point. You really got…

Great point. You really got me there. I can't run a controlled experiment with an exact replica of our country, but a different president. So therefore I can't deduce anything from the fact that our president spews out conspiracy theories that his followers believe, instead of taking steps to control the virus.

The season cancellation is a…

The season cancellation is a direct result of our president having the emotional maturity and leadership skills of a bratty 9-year old, so yeah... political commentary seems relevant here.

Might want to back off calling other people "asshats"...

Every single team gets bad…

Every single team gets bad calls against it.

Every. Single. Team.

But if you want to sit around and stew on the bad calls against Michigan, I guess... have fun with that?  It seems really productive...

The energy of 10,000+ people…

The energy of 10,000+ people being together and uniting for a common goal is going to be much more helpful to the team than the energy of your "worst state ever" shirt.

"Being a good guy who loves…

"Being a good guy who loves Michigan" and "turning a blind eye to kids getting money from boosters" are not mutually exclusive.  Some would even say they're complementary.

What are you even talking…

What are you even talking about?

Boosters paying high-ranked recruits has been the norm in basketball and football for 30+ years.  Thinking we're somehow immune from it, despite consistently having highly ranked recruiting classes, is delusional.

Ok.  You're 17 years old,…

Ok.  You're 17 years old, don't have a ton of family money, and are a top-20 basketball recruit.

School A offers you $200k.

School B offers you $0.

Who are you choosing?

Thinking that there are 5-stars out there NOT getting paid by boosters is naive, quaint, and kinda hilarious.  Once one school is offering money, then EVERY school has to offer money, just to keep up with the Joneses.

These recruits didn't grow up drinking the Michigan kool-aid. To a kid from California who wasn't even alive the last time Michigan won a title, there is nothing more "special" about Michigan than Texas, Arizona, Minnesota, or UNC. To the 5-stars, college basketball is just a means to an end, and they'll take the best deal they can get.

The fact that our fanbase continues on this delusional path of "WE'RE HOLIER THAN EVERYONE ELSE" largely makes us the laughingstock of the college sports world. I'm sorry if this shatters your worldview a bit, but it's just reality...

Agreed, it's not funny.  It…

Agreed, it's not funny.  It's reality.

If you want 5-stars, you have to drop the bag, and I'm totally fine with it.  The kids deserve money, we have money... no reason to not give them what they're worth.

Why is there is belief that…

Why is there this belief that Michigan boosters don't offer money? Is it the John U Bacon books?

It's a relatively poorly kept secret that Rashan Gary was offered $300k to go to Clemson.  It defies belief that he'd say, "Nah... I'd rather not have that $300k, and go play at a slightly worse program for free."  Something similar likely played out with the last minute flip-flopping of Dax Hill (I'm just speculating, but it certainly seems like the most plausible explanation).

Once one college program offers money for 5-stars, it becomes a defacto requirement for all programs to offer money for 5-stars, so that they can keep up.  It's fairly naive and quaint to think otherwise.

FWIW:  I'm of the belief that players SHOULD be paid, so I have no moral qualms about Michigan boosters dropping bags.

"A really good QB would help…

"A really good QB would help Michigan beat top-5 teams."

That's some hard-hitting analysis right there!

Hozier live is unreal.

Hozier live is unreal.

The "Wasteland, Baby" album,…

The "Wasteland, Baby" album, by Hozier, is sublime. The depth of sound he achieves is unbelievable.

Why would Indiana line up…

Why would Indiana line up defenders over the offensive linemen in this scenario?  The tackles, guard, and center, are irrelevant.

Was it just "confusion", so they kinda defaulted to what they'd normally do?  Were they unsure about who the eligible receivers were?

Can we maybe be better than…

Can we maybe be better than exploiting the death of a young woman to get cheap laughs about a football game?

Aria Gerson is in the process of writing a great article about this... fans who "weaponize" real-life problems/scandals to score cheap points in a football rivalry.

Were they given PEDs…

Were they given PEDs intentionally?  Maybe, maybe not.  We really don't know.

I do know, however, that ostarine positives as a result of contamination are a very real thing.  It's common for a single factory to produce supplements for many different companies.  If the factory doesn't properly clean their equipment in-between production runs, it's very possible for an ingredient from one product to contaminate another product.

I've been racing as a professional triathlete since 2011, so the world of athletic drug testing is something I'm very familiar with.  Two of my friends popped positive for ostarine, and I 100% believe it was the result of contaminated products they were consuming.  They were each able to prove, through independent lab testing, that the salt capsules they were using had been contaminated with ostarine.

Now... did Clemson intentionally dope these players, or was it contamination?  We'll never know.  I'm just saying that Dabo's statement should not be immediately dismissed as ridiculous, because it's entirely plausible.

Why the Calipari hatred? I Why the Calipari hatred? I have no problems with him. At least he’s upfront about who he is, and what he does. The real slimy ones are the sanctimonious ones, like Pitino and Coach K, who pretend to be “men of integrity” to the public, but cheat just as much as anyone else, behind closed doors. I kind of admire Calipari, for not putting on false displays of piety. He’s got a lot more integrity than the Sean Miller’s of the coaching world.
It's easy to run a mediocre

It's easy to run a mediocre zone defense.  But it's very difficult to run a *good* zone defense, because zones generally have "weak points" that can be exploited by a good offense (often near the foul line, or in the short corner).  So basically, you need serious length on defense, and you need to spend a LOT of time teaching rotations, responsibilities, etc...

Additionally, defensive rebounding is challenging, and zone teams are prone to giving up a lot of offensive boards.  This is due to box out assignments.  When you're playing man, it's easy to determine who you should be boxing out.  When you're playing zone?  It's easy for signals to get crossed, and an offensive player slip through the cracks and grab offensive boards.  We saw the "nightmare scenario" of this in the MSU/Syracuse game, when State had 20-ish offensive rebounds, and was able to generate 50% more shot attempts than Syracuse.

This thread title is legitimately hilarious without the apostrophe in "won't".

It makes the OSU locker room sound like a bunch of cavemen, going around dishing out something called "face punishment".  Seems harsh!

I'd guess that Harbaugh has

I'd guess that Harbaugh has no idea RichRod referenced the same scene.  It's just an extremely useful phrase/mindset, particularly in sports.  In sports, you're constantly going up against comparisons, and being evaluated moreso than just about any other job in life.  And comparisons/tests are a brutal assault on one's ego...

If you dwell on the past, you're screwed, because it is a 100% certainty that you'll have defeats/losses in your past.  In order to be a successful in any sport, it's absolutely necessary to not let the past get you down, because it can easily turn into a negative feedback loop that just feeds on itself, and turns into a self-perpetuating downward spiral.  Obsession with past failures has been the downfall of many an athlete/coach.

Yeah... Nik doesn't appeat to

Yeah... Nik doesn't appeat to be really involved in the Kings offense.  I'm not blaming him, just observing.

On one of his few opportunities, he got himself open with a great pump fake at the 3-pt line (indicating the Thunder take him seriously as a long-range shooter), but passed on the shot. Hopefully he pulls the trigger next time he gets himself that open.

Agreed....  I rowed in

Agreed....  I rowed in college, at an Eastern Sprints school, and we were just fine without the NCAA's oversight.  And anything that jeopardizes shirt betting is a bad idea.  Seriously, you'd be hard-pressed to find a rowing alum who doesn't still have a box full of betting shirts. Those things are worth their weight in gold to a lot of us.

You have a platform in this

You have a platform in this comments section, and not once have you condemned drunk driving.  How are the kids going to know that drunk driving is reprehensible??

All I'm getting out of these comments is that you condone drunk driving.

    This year, he's done

This year, he's done everything that Tim Hardaway Jr did last year, but better, and without Trey Burke.  Maybe he doesn't get out in transition quite as much as THJ, but he more than makes up for that in other areas of his game.

From what we've been seeing the last 2 months, he definitely has 1st round talent.  It's just a question of how long it takes the NBA scouts to really start believing in him.  I'm guessing the answer is "not too much longer"...

FWIW - I'm a Giants fan, but

FWIW - I'm a Giants fan, but watch the Lions whenever they're on TV.  They're a legitimately fun team and enjoyable to watch, regardless of whether they win or lose, because they have some nasty weapons on offense.   Obviously, I understand you guys would love to see more winning, but many fan bases out there would be VERY happy to have Megatron and Bush running free in a wide-open offense...

It looks like you took one

It looks like you took one joke (Michigan played poorly against Akron), and managed to ruin an entire article by running that joke into the ground, instead of actually providing meaningful analysis of Michigan's opponents...

Please explain how Johnny

Please explain how Johnny Manziel accepting money from boosters, or from selling autographs, will impact other sports.  I'd love to hear this explanation...

Or are you saying that schools directly paying players will affect other sports?  Schools have been paying MILLIONS to coaches and the corrupt bowl system for years.  Maybe they could just "re-direct" some of that money.  To, you know, the people who actually generate it...

"Let's see... We'd like to "Let's see... We'd like to add another point guard. We can either go with 10-15 years of Trey Burke, or... 2 years of an over-the-hill Chauncey Billups.
That's a no-brainer! We gotta go with Billups!!!!"
Brady has a 6-year, $18

Brady has a 6-year, $18 million contract with Michigan.  I think he can probably afford his own tab.

Correct.  Doesn't work there

Correct.  Doesn't work there at all.  Which probably means it's some super-meta joke that we're just not getting.

That doesn't even make sense.

That doesn't even make sense.  Hoke called them chickens, and their response is "Chicken will taste delicious"?  Is he saying that Michigan will eat Notre Dame?

No one is "trivializing

No one is "trivializing rape".  The criticisms are about this girl's complete inability to make a cogent argument.

Her argument that "making a new logo means the administration at UConn doesn't care about violence" is roughly the logical equivalent of people complaining that "spending 5 minutes filling out an NCAA bracket means the president doesn't care about America".

She can complain about the athletic department all she wants, and she may have a valid point.  But she's trying to connect two things that aren't connected.  Her argument is rambling, disjointed, and makes some strange leaps.  Even if she has valid complaint about the state of the UConn athletic department, she comes off as someone who's just looking for things to be upset about.
