OT: Where are you from?

Lived in Utica, MI (Metro Detroit) for many years of my life before moving to Fenton (South of Flint) less than a month ago.

Curious to see the comparison of in-state mgoblog posters vs out of state.

Yeah, Benton Harbor here (now Far South Side Chicago). I dutifully toe the company line and say all the right things about hating the Buckeyes, but in my vitriolic heart of hearts, it's all about ND. I suspect that's widely endemic to those of us from "Michiana."  Sure, I want to beat OSU, but really, this past season was bliss for me. Can't help it. Still smiling. The year before, it was over after game 1.

I call Middlebury (IN), one of the most delightful, idyllic All-American small towns, my home town...a wonderful, wonderful place to spend ones childhood. We moved to Pinckney going into HS-hence our family converted to fans of the U of M...then back to Goshen. A short stint in Americus, GA then the Indianapolis area for about 15 years. We now live in the Newton/Hesston, KS area-will leave as soon as we can...must be here for family reasons...6 1/2 years to go-counting the seconds.

Boyne City. Dad was in the navy though, so didn't live in BC long (as an infant, few months here and there between duty stations).

Ft Collins the past 7 years. Lots of MGo-faithful out here

I grew up in Sterling Heights, MI.  Moved to San Diego when I was 28 and lived there for 11 years.  I now live in Durham, NC and have been here for the past 8 years.  Do the math.  Yeah, I'm aged.

I hope I never go to Bolivia.

Born and raised in farm country outside the GR area and just recently moved back here to northern Kent County

In between, lived for periods of time in the following Michigan counties: Kalamazoo, Berrien, Midland, and Calhoun.

Spent 18 long years in the place Alex Kotlowitz wrote about in "The Other Side of the River."  Have lived in D.C., Baltimore, Dayton, Oxford, London, Canterbury, Heidelberg, Aix-en-Provence, San Francisco, Los Angeles, three places in Colorado (total of 15 years), and the last ten years in far northern California.

Well, you asked...

I was a senior in high school when Eric McGinnis was murdered. Knew several people in the book (not Eric). It's funny because a few years later, I'm bellied up at the Touchdown Cafe (nna the Blue Leprechaun, I think), and Michael Rosenpenis comes in a sits next to me.  We chatted for a bit about writing, and I was telling him about the Benton Harbor/St. Joe dichotomy, crazy stuff that happened there, and how someone should really write about book about it. He was so smug and dismissive.

Indianapolis originally. I moved to Orange County, California 8 years ago and don’t plan on leaving. I’ve been bouncing around Anaheim, Costa Mesa, now Aliso Viejo/Laguna Hills area. I’m not sure which city I’ll end up retiring in but it’ll be in Orange County.
