not paywalled so.....here is the Michigan paragraph - the rest is good reading too
No school’s future players had a better week than Michigan’s. Defensive lineman
started the week hot and maintained that level of production in each practice leading into the game. Offensive lineman
also spent the week turning heads and looking the type of player that could help a beleaguered Wolverines’ offensive line the moment he gets to campus. No player helped his stock more than Jones, who out-played his ranking from wire to wire. Things began to click for
late in the week, as he improved with each passing workout.

Not paywalled but apparently the content can't be viewed outside the US for security reasons. Must be some really top secret Intel.

Love it, only a matter of time. Stay thirsty my friends.

I feel like that writer either has it out against MSU or is a Michigan fan because they were ruthless in their description of their recruits and their bowl game. Loved it...
January 5th, 2019 at 12:58 AM ^
Totally agree because Devontas Dobbs looked dominant, even though he isn't at his full playing weight. He'll get bigger in MSU's weight program.
He will be a pain in the butt over the next few years

Since when is “steroid” spelled w-e-i-g-h-t?
January 5th, 2019 at 9:32 AM ^
Since Tony Mandarich enrolled at MSU, or basically always at Nebraska.
January 5th, 2019 at 10:09 AM ^
You're right, top rated OL always live up to their ratings/expectations.
<stares sadly at 2013 recruiting class>
January 5th, 2019 at 1:01 PM ^
None of them are at their full playing weight. Because they are in high school.

Oh shit
January 4th, 2019 at 8:41 PM ^
Little Bro as the #1 loser is almost so funny that you have to assume a UM grad wrote it.
I’m sure it sucks to be a Sparty right now.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
When does it not?
January 4th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
It was probably pretty cool when they ran back the punt for the last win
January 4th, 2019 at 9:14 PM ^
You are a legit troll.
Mods, do your worst.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
Whatever dude. It's the truth. MSU sucks as a school, and as a fan base. However, to act like they haven't had some good times (recently at Michigan's expense) is just dishonest.
Qualifying for the CFP was probably pretty cool too... until it wasn't.
January 4th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
He is, but you can't blame him for taking that one.
January 5th, 2019 at 8:56 AM ^
they'll do nothing
or a token ban, then allow his new account to remain another month
January 5th, 2019 at 12:58 AM ^
Does your mom ever make you come out of the basement and interact with people? You are what my dad called a fun-sucker. You suck all the fun out of everything JPC (aka Maizen).
Your mind is truly an empty place.

I don't care whether your name is 'Donny' or not, just shut the fuck up, Donny

I hope this stops the complaining about not recruiting Dobbs. He has elite size, but once he was facing elite talent, he struggled. I thought he was the worse linemen during the game. I wish the young man a successful career at MSU, but we now know why he wasn't recruited.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
I've seen Dobbs listed as short as 6'3". I'll bet he plays inside.
He was recruited by Michigan and other good schools. Maybe not prioritized as much as some others and he always seemed like less of a loss than some made him out to be.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
He got a lot of early pub...climbed the rating ladder...got lots of early offers from "everyone". MSU never got much push-back for him...for a reason. My guess has always been that the lack of interest from the big boys included more reasons than just his over-rated play on the field. His chirping about Michigan being robots certainly demonstrated other issues being in play.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:30 PM ^
I wonder about the judgment of anyone who picks MSU when they have other equivalent or better options.
If this guy
appeals to you, I'm not sure what's going on in your brain.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
This is pretty much wrong on every level.
1. Michigan did recruit Dobbs, and it won't stop the complaining.
2. He doesn't have elite size. In fact, one of the biggest questions about him has been, "Why is he such a highly ranked tackle when he's listed at 6'4" and that's probably fudging it a bit?"
3. I don't wish anyone a successful career at MSU.
4. Again, he was recruited by Michigan.
Pretty much the only thing you got right was that he struggled facing elite talent this week, but one week doesn't mean a great deal.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
247 has had him listed as a G for a while now, so even they changed the scope on him
January 4th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Lol people need to realize that for high school OL, 6'4 means 6'2. 300 either means 280 or 320 depending on if they look too small or too fat. HS QBs are almost as bad in the height and weight department
January 4th, 2019 at 11:08 PM ^
I was under the impression we did not recruit Dobbs as though he was a priority. I thought he expressed that opinion?
January 5th, 2019 at 9:34 AM ^
He complained about not being recruited early enough. He was a big deal as a freshman and Michigan didn't offer him back then. He seemed to resent that. Dobbs complained a lot, not a recruiting miss on attitude, at least that's how it looked from the outside.
January 5th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
Magnus,
Allow me to clarify. Yes he had an offer, but he was not heavily recruited like others that signed with UofM or that we missed on.
For a HS athlete, his size qualifies as elite, but his strength, hip bend, and pad level were not. He struggled at times against 5’10 230lb linemen in HS.
I will not wish ill upon anyone until they have earned it. Signing with MSU or calling coaches robots does not qualify for ill-will. Heck, signing with the bucknuts does not earn ill-will.
I appreciate your stance and opinion and I hope I provided some clarification for my original statements.

January 5th, 2019 at 11:38 AM ^
I don't think not wanting him to have a successful career is the same as wishing Ill will. It's fine to just hope he loses a bunch of games in college and shits the bed against Michigan without having legit ill will.
January 5th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
His size is not elite for an OL recruit and we were talking about his ranking as one.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:35 PM ^
It didnt take elite talent to expose Dobbs. I saw him play live and he was underwhelming against HS kids half his size.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
Mixed reviews on Dobbs. Next few years will tell. Really like our croots.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
This is the type of recruiting class that can really get things rolling for Michigan.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
But the internet analysts here said Harbaugh can't recruit and the 19 class wasn't very good.
Shrugs
January 4th, 2019 at 10:26 PM ^
I don't think even Maizen would say the 19 class was not very good. He might say it wasn't good enough if we want to be a national champion or even B1G champion as OSU continues to kill it in recruiting.
January 5th, 2019 at 12:13 AM ^
I think it was not enough 5 starz bruh.
You would also recall the shit show prior to the Daxton Hill recommit.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
I hope we can beat Ohio State in time for that to be able to happen.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
To be fair, Sparty should already know they're the biggest loser. No need to remind them and rub it in.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:05 PM ^
But CLEARLY they do not know...and, sadly, they never will.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:30 PM ^
They’re aware, but not fully aware.
January 5th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
I see what you did there. Nice.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
Well this is confusing because in like Day 2 of practice Rivals said Barnett was the #1 defensive player and Dobbs was #5 on offense. Now they say MSU signees were the most disappointing
not complaining tho lol
January 4th, 2019 at 9:34 PM ^
(I'm almost suspicious that they have one of these articles for each team - sort of like regional Sports Illustrated covers - and the one for the MSU audience says they're #1 among winners and we're #1 among losers.)
January 4th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
I'm sure sparties think it's a conspiracy. That seems to be their go-to for everything.
January 4th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
Let's look at the article. It says: "Defensive back Julian Barnett had an uneven week that ranged from solid to concerning," What's the confusion?
January 4th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
I'm kinda puzzled by this tbh. Seems like most of the stuff I've seen on Twitter this week about Barnett was very positive. Oh well, he's a Sparty so whatever.
Glad to see a lot of positive reporting on Mazi Smith!
