Quidditch like in the movie "The Internship", or has Michigan or MIT developed flying brooms now? THAT would be varsity. I'd pay to see that. Not sure about the rest of you.
|1 week 1 hour ago||This will make the experience||
This will make the experience like the Superbowl. That and the name "Miami".
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Yes, don't do it when||
Yes, don't do it when Michigan has the ball. Some noise can be too much for the offense if audibling, and big plays can kill the wave. Hoping we have lots of those big plays this year.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Agree 100% . . .Including||
Agree 100% . . .
Including the 2 times around at normal speed.
And slow has to be before fast.
The other points below I agree with:
- Must be late in the 3rd quarter or early 4th
of a game with at least a substantial
lead (maybe 17 points).
- Should be when the opposition has the ball.
The noise of the wave can definitely be
additive to the general noise making,
and will not distract our offense.
In about 2002 or 2003, my cousin (a Purdue grad) came with my nephew. The wave was particularly well done, in the order mentioned above, and he came away very impressed. His wife tells me every once in a while, that he still tells friends/neighbors/co-workers about our wave. He was very disappointed when he came around 2008 or 2009, and there was NO wave. I hope the Students get this to work this year again.
Although it seems a relatively minor thing, it is one part of the gameday tradition that should not be replaced by rawk music or lasershows. The band, the wave, the 4th down stop chants and others like Let's Go Blue, Offense Like a Truck, and Defense Like a Rock, "key" plays, passing co-eds around, Hail to the Victors are all obvious parts of the college gameday experience that we should embrace.

Do you mean "concurrent", not "concentric"? What would a concentric wave look like if that's really what you mean?
|6 weeks 22 hours ago||Does DB honestly think the||
Does DB honestly think the App State, Miami of Ohio and Utah games are worth the price of admission including seats and PSL? I'm not sure of the price, but it'd be interesting to see what he says.
My guess is he'll say something about supply and demand and maximizing revenue . . . not something about taking care of Michigan Fans and helping them spend their Saturday afternoons in A2 with their young kids, enjoying the game, the band, the cheers, the tradition, the pageantry.
|6 weeks 22 hours ago||Tradition||
Ask Dave Brandon if he feels that the tradition of attending every game, tailgating, walking to the stadium, listening to the band and watching some great football is becoming out of reach for most fans due to ticket prices. Perhaps prices of tickets means that only the wealthy, non-committed fans can attend, while the everyday Joe with 3 kids and a passion for Michigan will only make it to 1 game a year, at a huge discount price off StubHub, watching the rest of the games at home. Does he worry about the lack of connection to the tradition, and therefore passion, when so many people only attend sporadically?

Almost $250? I think PSU is half the value of the tickets this year.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Stubhub will have tickets for||
Stubhub will have tickets for $15 for Miami and Ohio. Maybe not between the 30s, but in the endzones and corners, you won't get $30 for those games. Even with App St being the first home game, I don't think people will get face value on StubHub.
Otherwise, I agree with your comment about bundling.
|13 weeks 3 days ago||I also think you're totally||
I also think you're totally over-reacting. Don't you know that the PSDs are competitive with the rest of the premier programs across the country?!?! And for just $4 you can also get into the women's lacrosse game? Don't forget that there are now 2 (yes 2!) MDenLocations onsite at the Big House, where you can purchase all your favorite MGoGear. AND you can catch the exiciting Slippery Rock game for just $20.
Why do you feel like they're always trying to take your money? They're only offering you some exciting benefits of membership in this exclusive club!

I agree Karsch doesn't have the sweetest voice, but it's distinctive, and he's good. Remember that Bob Ufer didn't have a creamy, supple voice . . . especially after touchdowns.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||And while I'm not sure how||
And while I'm not sure how flexible the date can be, April 5 is the first Saturday of Michigan public school Spring Break. Lots of fans with kids will be out of town.
IF they could make it 2 weeks later, it'd be warmer. And make it more of a game. Fans with kids would love to come and get closer to the field, see some nice catches and runs at a lot less money. Plus it builds enthusiasm for the program, and can get some parking and concession funds.
But I agree, regardless of whether people should want to attend if DB wanted people to attend, he could do a LOT better.

What a physical game. I figured if we could pull that one out, we'd not be stopped. But a GREAT year for these guys! Very well done! Championship Game and Elite 8 in the 2 years, and other than Nik and Jordan leaving, all things are headed in the right direction for this program! FUN TEAM TO WATCH and ROOT FOR!!!

|17 weeks 22 hours ago||So what does out-of-state||
So what does out-of-state tuition cost an Illinois resident, to go to Iowa? Anyone know?
What is the in-state tuition for Northern Illinois? Hmmm.
I think this is #1 based on a value proposition, where joining the B1G does nothing for the state of Illinois. Get better schools at a lower price, and then kids will come. And #2 if you're locking-out in-state kids for higher $$ out-of-state kids, then maybe you should get your priorities revised in your next State Budget. If quality universities are a priority, then stop spending money on stupid stuff you can't afford, and improve the schools you have instead of slapping the B1G logo on an average school.
|17 weeks 22 hours ago||Well, you forgot Pennsylvania||
Well, you forgot Pennsylvania . . . and how Maryland and New Jersey survived this long without the B1G is crazy!
One thing that has to be said is yes, Ohio has survived with only 1 B1G school, but unfortunately, it's still very Ohio-like.

So did space not exist before the Big Bang? And does that mean space went from 0 to infinity, at faster than the speed of light, or does space end where matter ends?
I agree . . . "what" exactly went faster than the speed of light?

I'd choose "moot", but at this point, the point may be moo.
|18 weeks 4 days ago||You're not the only one.||
You're not the only one. We're only talking 4 oz here...that's 1/3 of a can of beer difference. And by the time you add foam to that small, it's be quite a bit lower, whereas you can still fit foam in the large.
For some people this is a serious issue. That's why some states/cities and Germany, mandate lines on the cups and glassware, to show where your beer is supposed to be.

Are you implying he's not just a shooter?
|23 weeks 5 days ago||Congrats to all the new||
Congrats to all the new Michigan Men, and to Jabrill for likely bringing along some of that talent. And I agree. I feel Jabrill will make an impact early and continuously, hopefully like Charles. He sure seems to have the talent.
Hail to Team 135! Go Blue!!!
|23 weeks 6 days ago||I'm not sure I don't||
I'm not sure I don't understand what you're not saying about what Dan Dierdorf used to do or not do routinely. But I'm not sure I'm not wrong about that. I would not want to speculate any further.
|23 weeks 6 days ago||I think what he's saying is||
I think what he's saying is "Don't be anything". These kids shouldn't know you exist.
You're writing on a blog, and that's the privilege you have for signing-up. But don't communicate with these guys, good or bad, directly or even on this site. It's not helpful (likely creepy) and can only hurt. We generally have a reputation for class.
Let's maintain that reputation while at the same time not bothering anyone over their decision and violating NCAA rules.
|23 weeks 6 days ago||I like the kids we got, based||
I like the kids we got, based on this feedback. And with all of these guys, you get some unique insight into their struggles to decide. Some more than others. This is an interesting feature to see each year. Humanizes these "football players" even more.
|23 weeks 6 days ago||That was an interesting one,||
That was an interesting one, with lots of action/activity. Not as interesting as the Butterfinger/Reese's one though.
|24 weeks 6 days ago||Exactly. So where this will||
Exactly. So where this will lead us it that revenue sports will continue, because they'll be able to afford to pay their players, and non-revenue sports will either go away or become club teams.
If paying players becomes part of the financial equation for universities, opportunities go away for everyone but Football Players, men's Baskeball Players, and an equal # of women. They are the only ones who will play for money/scholarship. If the union is going to represent "scholarship players" and increase the costs for those employees, there will end up being fewer of them.
Will be a sad day for all those students who are enriched (personally and through scholarship) by participation in gymnastics, baseball, field-hockey, volleyball, hockey, and all the others.
|24 weeks 6 days ago||They don't want to represent||
They don't want to represent Walk-Ons/NonSchollies because they aren't compensated. But they are saying part of the reason they're employees is because the university makes money off their "work". Hard to see where this lawsuit goes. But it'll be interesting.
|24 weeks 6 days ago||Free Throws||
They're sending their positive energy to the shooter and using their mystical abilities to help guide the basketball from his hands toward the rim in the proper trajectory. The "woosh" and arm sweep downward is done to finalize the process as they guide the ball down through the hoop.
It's not wierd. It helps. I can only imagine how many fewer FTs we'd make if our fans didn't help out! ;-)
|25 weeks 11 hours ago||Expectations||
B1G Championships: 8 (Ohio wins 7-8, 3 other teams sneak one or 2)
|26 weeks 22 hours ago||Was hoping when they added||
Was hoping when they added the suites that the Big House would be designed for more of this. They leaned the suites forward and down a bit, but I'd guess another couple degrees, and the sound would have been held-in much better.
Maybe when they lower ticket prices, and are able to fill, then build, a second deck in the South Endzone, they'll move it close to the field to create that overhang to utilize the sound-keeping effects of that.
