Jim Bob Cooter would have been a better head coach than Matt Patricia.
January 1st, 2019 at 7:44 PM ^
Caldwell was a good coach .... Careful what you wished for ..
January 1st, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
Caldwell got them to the playoffs twice in his first 4 years. Something only 2 other coaches have done in their near 100 yr history. But it wasn't good enough for the proud Lions franchise.
January 1st, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
But Patricia has an engineering degree.
January 1st, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
I don't follow the lions, but does he know how to use good talent?
January 1st, 2019 at 5:48 PM ^
I don't know well enough to say except that Cooter did seem to do better with Caldwell there.
January 1st, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
Good. He’ll get another fine job in the league.
Time for Michigan to also get rid of their offensive coach.
January 1st, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
Harbaugh is the offensive coach. Why do people insist on ignoring this?
This obsession with Pep Hamilton is beyond bizarre. This is Harbaugh’s offense structured and called like he desires.
January 1st, 2019 at 6:38 PM ^
So what are we paying Pep over a million dollars a year to do?
January 1st, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
January 1st, 2019 at 7:03 PM ^
Masterbate
January 1st, 2019 at 8:31 PM ^
Just exactly how does one get into that line of work? I feel i could excel in this position.
What the hell is that interview like?
January 1st, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
Our running game looks far different under Warinner than it did under Drevno. And our passing game looks dramatically different under Hamilton than it did under Fisch.
Harbaugh oversees the operation and approves the direction, but he clearly delegates and trusts his assistants to implement their own ideas and concepts. If you can't see that, I can't help you understand.
January 2nd, 2019 at 5:57 AM ^
Exactly!
We have eyes.
We saw Grant Perry look like he was going to be a slot weapon and Rudock showing out with Darboh and Chesson...and then all of a sudden we were running these deep drop, NFL progressions with guys who won't make an NFL practice squad.
I think we want someone who can adapt to talent and not assume every college QB in 2019 is Andrew Luck. Especially coming out of these spread HS systems.
January 1st, 2019 at 9:23 PM ^
Why do you do this on every thread involving Pep? Is he your friend in real life or something? If you can't tell the difference between what the offense looked like with Jedd here in when Pep has been here then I don't know how you function on a daily basis.
January 1st, 2019 at 11:00 PM ^
Yes & no. If you look back at Harbaugh and say the last 12 years with Stanford, SF, and Michigan his offenses haven’t all been like this. Similar concepts but tweaked. Since Pep has been here, the O’s are worse.
January 1st, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
Everyone says pep to the lions, but what's the connection to Patricia? Why would he hire pep after seeing what Michigan has looked like the last 2 years?
January 1st, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Correct...the connection was actually to Cooter. I guess there is a friendship between Pep and Cooter, in addition to them sharing a similar bland look at the passing game.
January 1st, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
But did you see Prater's TD throw?
January 2nd, 2019 at 5:50 AM ^
Best QB on that team
January 1st, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
Really hope Pep goes elsewhere. Lions suck enough as it is.
however, if Michigan benefits by getting a new stud OC and it’s the Lions that have to suffer for it, it’s still desirable
January 1st, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Yep, lifetime Lions fan here, I’ll take a Pep going to the Lions, if it means Michigan can get an innovative OC in here!
January 1st, 2019 at 5:54 PM ^
I am guessing that Pep will be a WR coach or something similar back in the NFL.
January 1st, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
Pep can say Jim was ultimately the OC. Plausible deniability!
January 1st, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
double post
January 1st, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
plausible deniability!
January 1st, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
Or maybe deniable plausability
January 1st, 2019 at 6:26 PM ^
Because Patricia is sitting there thinking, “Man, my offense doesn’t suck enough ass, let’s see what Michigan is doing.”
January 1st, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
It's happening.
January 1st, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Pep to Lions. Cooter to Michigan.
happy new year!
January 1st, 2019 at 6:20 PM ^
Cooter has a backup employment plan as a tour guide:
January 2nd, 2019 at 12:53 AM ^
weirdly, "Cooter" served in the House of Representatives some years back iirc
January 1st, 2019 at 6:50 PM ^
Still drinking I see.
January 1st, 2019 at 5:57 PM ^
Pep to the lions please
January 1st, 2019 at 6:01 PM ^
JBC always reminded me of the Dukes of Hazzard....
January 1st, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
Firing a guy on a holiday, kinda not good. Wait a week.
That's what I'm doing as a Michigan fan.......
January 1st, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
Ah yes, I’m sure the half dozen other coaches who were fired Monday instead of Tuesday really appreciate not being fired on the holiday.
January 1st, 2019 at 6:50 PM ^
I guess it's easier to fire a coordinator than the head coach. Patricia looked lost at times this season. Maybe he'll grow into the job next year.
January 1st, 2019 at 7:05 PM ^
Talk about deer in the headlights...
January 1st, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
That's my biggest concern as a Lions' fan, Patricia looked clueless way too often for my liking.
"grow into the job", crossing my fingers man, sigh.
Also, Pep needs to GTFO and Harbaugh needs to do something, anything to get the program over the last 2 humps, beating these OSU fuckheads and making it into the CFP, winning it would just be gravy.
January 1st, 2019 at 7:46 PM ^
You mean fire the OC than cut the franchise qb.
January 1st, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
That's what she said
January 1st, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
Information and double right for 1 yard has jimmy written all over it .
January 1st, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
FIRE PEP
January 1st, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
And Pep in? Please
January 1st, 2019 at 9:54 PM ^
I read somewhere that Jim Bob was the youngest coordinator in the league last year. Hopefully he lands on his feet.
January 1st, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
Thought this was a thread about your wife leavin ya.
