OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 6/10: Best Night Ever
So yesterday we had a phenomenal night in the game. We won nearly every territory we were targeting for the night except for Penn State and Ball State. We swept all the Michigan territories we targeted and now have the state of Michigan almost completely sewn up. We also took enough Ohio territories that opponents cannot try to take back OSU. The one downside to our night is that Wisky got a little deeper into New England, so we stil have that front to deal with.
This is a critical night. We have a lot of fronts we have to deal with so we need as much participation as possible to to shore everything up. We are at the point where we are very close to basically having a single front to deal with while also having the most territories in the game. Right now we have 20 territories, and that's with Clemson rogues having taken a couple of territories that we will easily take back.
For the alliance as a whole we had another great day. We just keep expanding outward and we're not at a point where we control more territories than red. Since our increase in participation, we have begun to crush them

- Visit https://michigancfbrisk.com/ and click “Get Order!”
- Click the blue chessboard beneath the logo that you’re meant to attack/defend to take you to the game.
- Scroll down, now, and on the right hand side of the screen, you will see the options that you can attack or defend. Click the school logo that you were assigned to
Do not ever attack any territory that is owned by one of our allies unless specifically told to do so in your orders. Our allies are Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, and Texas. If you get an order to attack an ally owned territory then it means we are coordinating with them, so it is acceptable. Otherwise, do not attack allied territories or defend territories that allies border please!
Make sure you aren't flagged as a bot
One potential issue with the influx of new users we had is that some players may have been flagged as a bot and therefore their actions may not be counting. If you are flagged as a bot you will see the image below on vote.redditcfb.com
If you are seeing that message follow the steps below, otherwise you can ignore this.
- Follow the link shown in the screenshot above and fill out the google form
- Wait at least one day for the text box to disappear. If it does disappear, you are all set.
- If the bot disclaimer message persists after one day, then message the mods of /r/cfbrisk directly. You can follow the link in step 4 below to do this in one easy click.
- Be patient as the mods of the game are busy and they are putting a lot of effort into running this thing.
Daily Map:
Btw, the date in the title should be 6/15
Woops
Also I think it should say "we're NOW at a point..." instead of "we're NOT at a point..."
Since becoming a 4-star, every order I have been given has been successful - more stars must mean exponentially more power
What if Clemson is messing with us for Rashan Gary?????
Its a conspiracy! /Mind 'splodes
Could you put the actual link to the site were we do our daily CRBRisk attach / defend moves in your daily emails again? Just makes it easier to get to from these updates... THANKS!!!
There's a link to it on the site after you get your orders
I see that Virginia Tech may be forced to punt from a place that it doesn't want to be.
Again.
Still.
Thanks for putting all of this together. I have no idea how risk works, nor am I terribly inclined to learn, but I'm getting loads of satisfaction from "just following orders" every day. Let's gooooooo!
It's not that similar to real risk IMO. You get the number of armies that you have users/stars each day, so there is not penalty for attacking a territory and losing, or benefit to waiting and building your army.
Same. No idea what's going on, just want us to win.
For a first time user yesterday I have to say my defense of Bowling Green was superb.
You're welcome.
As a **** that was part of the army that helped liberate Ann Arbor from the other B1G mustilidae, that was fun.
I would like to make a suggestion to those participating. I was following the game from a distance until Seth put out the call to participate. For the past however many days I've been a good soldier, getting my assignment, and doing what it says. However, I just actually visited the CFB Risk sub https://www.reddit.com/r/CFBRisk/ and would encourage those that are participating to go read some of the posts and comments. It makes the game more engaging and gave me a few laughs. For instance...
it's worth mentioning that we have a reasonable shot to win the game. most territories owned after july 3 wins. we are within throwing distance of the lead and have double the number of players as the next two teams. let's rally and win this thing!
Personally, I wouldn't mind if we don't win the game. But can we at least kill of OSU???
It's almost impossible to kill a team like OSU. You have to get extremely lucky, because you have to take the territories they occupy AND all the territories they touch.
Even if you overwhelm them with numbers in every possible territory (complete RNG every turn), the way the game works makes it very probable that they will take at least 1 territory.
In other words, if we went full bore after OSU, we'd probably lose AND they'd survive.
Clemson must be punished! Wipe them off the landscape.
Clemson is a very, very reliable ally. There were like 5 low-level rogues who took territory from us, which is insignificant.
Don't waste your stars taking territory from Clemson unless it's your official order.
This is based on experience....the last time Clemson accidentally took territory from us, we had a whole bunch of rogues push back. It was a waste of hundreds of stars and may have cost us dearly again our opponents.
I don't know how much you can share with the outside world, including us cannon fodder fresh out of boot camp, but it would be interesting to learn how these alliances are working. When I saw Clemson taking some of our NE properties yesterday I figured we were paying them back for some prior service. But, rogues you say. Now I'm wondering how Clemson is supposed to benefit (aside from not being squashed like a bug). Is just staying alive their reward? Are we going to help escort them out of their landlocked position, surrounded by allies, so that they can hack their own path to the Pacific? Or, are they destined to play a rear-guard role, always fighting OSU and Wisconsin?
And what the he!! happened to Texas and Georgia Tech yesterday on our southern flank? I figured if we could set the edge on the north, James Ross style, and funnel OSU into our help, we'd be roasting buckeye nuts in a day or two. But these guys sure didn't try very hard. Only Florida seems to be bringing the right attitude when taking on OSU. But now that we have OSU occupying territory that used to belong to Texas and Georgia Tech. and surely looking for more, maybe this will change???
My orders don't seem to make strategic sense, but maybe that is just the life of a foot soldier who doesn't have the benefit of the larger strategy.
Gotta get rid of the buckeye blight on the east coast.
What team is represented by that weird fractal symbol!
Townies?
Attacking Northwestern felt good, I got a cushy assignment, sort of like fighting the Italians in WWII.
How can I get more stars?
Did you already click on all of the links? Other than that it's all about just showing up and attacking now that they killed the karma thing.
That's team chaos, made up of players whose teams have been conquered and players who had no team to begin with (joke flairs, FCS flairs, etc). Theyre the biggest in the game by numbers, but get a random multiplier of 0.5 to 1.0 every turn - making them weaker than the other teams. They're also not really organized at all like any real team.
Just joined,
Without sharing what the orders are... why would we ask players to attack or defend against a Conquered team? Are Conquered teams still in the game?
You are attacking the territory that was originally owned by that team, not the team itself. If you click on that territory on the map, you will see all of the previous owners of the territory as well as the current owner.
Your order is to attack a territory, not a team. So, if you were given an order to attack Wyoming, you would attack the territory defined as Wyoming even though the team Wyoming is no longer in the game.
This game is literally the reason I have come out of the shadows as an all time lurker.
Not sure why I'm being ordered to attack an ally owned territory but trusting the process...
Loving this. Summer hours in retail is hell.
Could be the ally is not strong enough to hold it and the anticipation is that an enemy force will attack the territory. So, while you're attacking an ally, you're really trying to prevent an enemy from taking the territory.
It's funny how a day ago everyone was freaking out about Michigan losing a number of close battles, then a day later they basically run the table. It's totally how this game of Risk would play out; now it's just going to be manifest destiny to July.
Let's keep the momentum going.
So there really is going to be an end to this game?
Game ends on July 4, whether or not someone has taken over. Winner is declared as team with most territories. Without this hard stop, it would probably go on a very long time.
What if you get an order and then that order is not listed as one of your options?
Any update for 6/16 am? Also, is there a way to link to the map to look at it from time to time if you aren't playing? I searched the web and could not find it.
