Video: Alex Kile's GW SO Goal over #4 Ferris State
I know there's already two hockey topics on the front page but I think this one is worthy of its own since most are unlikely to get sifting through those threads for this video. (And we're in a dead period anyway)
Alex got the game-winning shootout goal in the 7th round last night to beat #4 Ferris State and this video has been making the rounds on hockey blogs (I've seen it shown up in a few places already). People have called it "Datsyukian". Watch for yourself below:
Nasty

What was the goalie even complaining about?
December 12th, 2013 at 1:34 PM ^
My guess would be that he either a) thinks Kile interfered with him, or b) thinks he made the save and wants a review.

Agreed - guessing he's of the view that he stopped the puck before it crossed the line completely.

I was at the game, they did actually review it

Siblings tend to do that.

He was saying that he ran into him before the puck crossed the line which would be goalie interference I assume?

I hope that was sarcasm.
1) That puck was no more than one inch over the line for less than 1 second.
2) There was some contact there.
He's well within reason to protest in the heat of the moment.
Regardless, great, great goal, and nearly a phenominal leg save.
* Edit -- after rewatching, actually very little if any contact. Really amazing body balance.

Datsyukian? I think that one handed backhand move is called "The Zetterberg".
Wasn't it originally Forsberg though?

Double post, so here is some video:

Forsberg used that move to beat Canada in the Gold Medal Game of the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Games. Sweden thought that was so cool they put it on a postage stamp.
EDIT: My apologies, I didn't notice Doug's post below.

They should be calling Forsbergian as he was the first one to pull that move. They even put it on a postage stamp in Sweden.

was on sportscenter's top plays last night - I forget where, 2nd or 3rd i think.

It's called the Peter Forsberg Special. Forsberg used it against Corey Hirsch and team Canada to win the gold medal at the 1994 Olympics at Lillehammer.

Even though the goal doesn't count for points or standing per the NCAA, there is nothing stopping it from being awesome. We at least have this highlight, and it was nice to look at. What was really cool in a way is that even though this shootout doesn't officially matter (I don't understand the NCAA sometimes - looked like a win to me) , both teams seemed to relish every moment of it from what I could see on TV.

Wait. The shootout doesn't matter? Did Michigan win or tie last night? I'm so confused.
December 12th, 2013 at 2:01 PM ^
NCAA does not recognize shootout wins, so they see it as a tie. Shootout win for Big Ten+x.

Sure, Forsberg did it first, but I hate Forsberg. I'm going with Z or dats on this one

Do you think so?

There has been such a lack of these with the Red Wings this year it was nice to watch some of the "good guys", sans Forsberg make these goals.

I was at the game and was watching from the reverse angle of the TV camera so the goalie wasn't blocking our view. It looked close but it also clearly looked like a goal. I was surprised the review took so long.
