Stay Classy Buckeye Fans
Buckeye fans are showing their class by criticizing Herbstreit for shaking a wounded warrior/Michigan fans hand.
“@yoderman86: "@YNWAbuckeye: @Torg963 pic.twitter.com/aeNhHJib1y" #fakebuckeye” my bad for thanking some wounded warriors bud. How dare I?

“@yoderman86: "Great call to go for 2" you're a retard #fakebuckeye” seriously? Is your life that miserable? Picked Ohio St to win. Beat it

I like Herbie but he feeds the trolls too often. As does Desmond for that matter

When I was walking into the stadium, an OSU student was so drunk she attempted to swipe her OSU ID through the Ticket scanners. Mind you this wasn't the student entrance, and she had no clue where her ticket was/what a ticket is. After trying to plead her case that the ticket was in the ID, the guy scanning tickets motioned for a police officer to come over. The girl decided to make a break for it. This didn't go well. she couldn't figure out how the turnstyle worked and attempted to go under it. This was surprisingly successful until it came to getting back up. Not sure how the story ended, but I imagine she took a nice ride to U of M hospital.

I like Herbie. There is nobody out there I would rather listen to calling a game.
He is quite objective given that he graduated from Ohio, and knowledgeable of the game. If you expect ANY announcer to be 100% objective when it comes to THEIR team, your expectations are not realistic.
Also, Herbie seems to understand that OSU has some really bad fans. Every school does, including Michigan, but Ohio takes the prize. MSU is close though.

This. And he's had it bad enough from OSU fans over the years. Guy had to physically move his family not just out of Columbus, but the entire freaking state because they were giving him such a hard time about not picking OSU to win every single freaking week.

I agree. I think he is by far one of the most objective commentators out there and he always gives some very insightful points. Much better then Spielman. Although I like Desmond Howard a lot better, Herbie is more objective lol.

Not quite Jalen levels, but everyone knows who he's rooting for on a given day. Herbie is extremely objective with his Buckeye roots

The OSU fans a couple rows behind me were awful. Constantly screaming f-bombs at the players and rooting for Michigan players to get hurt. They were horrible people, but the rest of the fans around us were polite and friendly. The thing I'll remember most is that small group though, which is how fanbases get characterized by a small percentage of jerks.
The worst part was that the girl doing a big part of the screaming had one of the most grating voices I've ever heard. I'd rather have Gilbert Godfried screaming in my ear than her.

One guy said it best, I think - alums of Michigan and Ohio State tend to be classier than the average run-of-the-mill bandwagoner.

I've known good and bad from both camps, as you've pointed out.

This pretty much happened all the time when I was in the MMB. Like, pretty much every week.

Walking to the stadium, past all the tailgates on Main St., I noticed Buckeyes often tried to heckle Michigan fans into responding, which most of the time, no one did. Inside the stadium, the few OSU fans around us in Section 43 were decent, except for one obnoxious woman who thought she was part of a conversation between my son and me. As we got close to the gates by Main/Stadium, one Buckeye fan was walking while turning his head back to yell at someone and walked into a pole. I actually felt sorry for him as the pole height appeared to cause an impact in a sensitive area.
No one can say that the fans didn't show up today, and the team definitely showed up.
There was just this feeling of things starting to come together.

They have a lot of fans who lead shallow, unimportant lives that revolve around Ohio football. Winning The Game enables them to validate their own lives and level of self worth.

You could replace Ohio with Michigan and describe a lot of people here.
November 30th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
The vast majority of the Ohio fans are OK. They just have more than their share of bad apples who make it look bad for the rest of them. Most of them probably didn't even go there and are just looking for an opportunity to get wasted. Because they don't have pro football in Columbus, Ohio picks up the low rent district in the way of fans.

This^. You know all those NFL stadiums that have jail cells in them to process drunk/violent/destructive fans? In Columbus all those fans don't have an NFL team to root for. So they all become Buckeye fans.
