don't forget the headset
November 4th, 2013 at 10:58 PM ^
Other coaches use their headsets to call recruits during the game.

For the love of all that is right, don't forget the short sleeves!

WHY ISNT HOKE WEARING A HEADSET DURING THE PRESSER?
now that would solve everything.
and, you're welcome!

He doesn't play offensive line so I don't care at this point.

However, if we win one or zero, I think we will miss out on many top recruits. A lot of times talented kids are going to want to play for a winner, on a top team that will go to BCS bowls. We are not one of these teams now and some kids may be drawing a conclusion that we will never be an elite time.
November 4th, 2013 at 11:29 PM ^
and the other scummy coaches who use rumors to sway kids away from Michigan will tell them Hoke will only have another year or two at Michigan. Last year the rumor was that Hoke was leaving to coach the NFL! I guess cheaters will always cheat!

I don't know why we held out hope for him for so long. It's crazy too - we stopped recruiting other safeties (read: Nicholson) with the hopes of JuJu coming. We need a big time safety with Peppers at corner - and now we likely aren't going to get one in this class.

ONE kid from California cancelling a visit?
Sooooo many other factors besides the MSU game likely to have caused this decision.
That's why we, and just about every other midwestern school out there, never get many California visits in the first place.
The decision as to where to commit is such a big one, I just don't see any recruit worth having making such a decision on the basis of a SINGLE game.
I'm pessimistic. But even I don't think this means ANYTHING. At all.
So, there there. Step off the ledge, back into the building, and have a cup of cocoa. Everything's going to be all right, man.

Michigan was in it early with Juju Smith, but things have been trending downward for a while now.

Stop worrying. Obviously though, if the team keeps f-ing up on the field, I'd worry more about the 2014 and 2015 commits.

November 5th, 2013 at 10:21 AM ^
He would be here with bells on! But would he commit? I doubt it! However, I worry about other top recruits who are now going to look at how weak our team is and wonder if Hoke can actually transform Michigan into an elite team.
I've just come to the fact that all we will be is a 3 to 5 loss per year team with very few BCS bowls and many losses to Urban! Kind of sucks but may be I will be proven wrong!

Malik Mcdowell is a far greater concern for me right now. He's an instate defensive player that Michigan is competing directly with State to get
November 5th, 2013 at 10:38 AM ^
McDowell didn't even bother to visit MSU last weekend. He's not going to Michigan State. If he doesn't choose Michigan, he's going out of the conference.

There is too much gnashing of teeth and pessimism lately. We lost a game, and it was a very thorough butt-kicking. It's time to move on. When you look at our roster, though, it is clear that help is on the way. Our OL is very young, and, to make matters even worse, we have interior linemen playing out of position. Glasgow is a guard, not a center, and that bad snap may have been the most demoralizing play of the game. Magnuson is a tackle, not a guard. Then there is Bosch, a true freshman. Next year, it is likely that either Kugler will be the starting center or Miller will have bulked up enough to handle a job that he otherwise is pretty good at (in another thread, someone suggested he had not been adequately coached, but his problems seem to be size and strength, not technique or play-calling). We will have guards with experience (Kalis, Bosch, Glasgow, Bryant), and Magnuson can move back to tackle. Things are likely to improve and to improve significantly.
November 5th, 2013 at 12:49 PM ^
Taylor Lewan and Michael Schofield graduate. While the young guys may improve, even significantly, who is going to be as good as Lewan and Schofield next year, while also allowing us to shore up the interior?
This isn't a one way trajectory.

You know the sales spiel coming from Dantonio, Urban and others.
"They were 10-2, then went 8-4, now 7-5, etc. They're going downhill. Come play for us!"
It is what it is.

For those who want Hoke gone, you have a major weapon in Urban Meyer. He will surely run up the score if possible to impress BCS voters. 3 years of that and Hoke is done. For the anti-Hoke crowd, Meyer is your best friend right now.
