Thursday Football Open Thread

Submitted by maizeonblueaction on

Even though we do not play until Saturday, there finally is some actual football going on. Big games are South Carolina v. UNC, and USC v. Hawaii. In B1G action, Indiana plays Indiana State, and Minnesota plays UNLV.

They're the new Auburn in my book. I'm so sure they're cheating, that now I just love to see them lose.

And lol at UConn. We're going to obliterate them
...a lot of people are going to obliterate them.

More likely to happen:

  • UConn has a win in week 4
  • Paul Pasqualoni is still UConn's coach in week 4

I hate Mississippi and their racist nickname, and their other racist nickname, and their blatant cheating, but I have to admit that was a nice call.  It's nice to see someone other than Brady Hoke realize that punting is overrated.

Known for great offense and terrible defense? Check
Scoring an insane amount of points early? Check
Allowing an uncomfortable amount of points to an inferior opponent? Check

They're going look awfully sexy in the non-conference season, before they start getting smoked in weeks 4-7 (Mizzou, PSU, @MSU, @Mich)

Much as I'd love to see USC lose every game this year, I'd love even more to see Ole Miss lose every game. Does anyone think they're not one of the $300,000 or $600,000 teams alluded to in Ricky Seals-Jones' book?

You know you're right, when you put it like that it makes so much sense now.

Also, I'm sure if they had in fact done anything wrong, the NCAA would have been all over it from the start and handed down extremely harsh penalties in a fair, consistent, and efficient manner.

...they may be paid, but they're also the real deal. I've been impressed by all of their "big 4"...both guys on offense and both guys on defense. They're going to be great football players even if the team is never better than .500.
