OT-NFL Replacement Refs
Ok i have had enough of teh replacement refs to last a lifetime. If anyone else watched the end of the Packers-Seahawk game you know what i am talking about.
For one, there was a obvious offensive PI that was called defensive PI against the Packers. This keeps the Seahawk drive alive. Then the last play of the game was hailmary for Seattle, first it was the most obvious offensive PI i have seen, Tate obviously pushed Shields down. No call on this. Then Jennings intercepts the ball and Tate wrestles the ball away from Jennings on the ground. Replay clearly shows that Jennings had possession and Tate pulled it away on the ground. To top it all off, one ref signaled touchdown while the other signaled touchback as though Shields intercepted the ball in the end zone.
Fucking bullshit calls just cost the Packers a game. NFL pay the refs to avoid this embarrassment that we are currently calling the NFL.

But when it's four calls in a row, it starts getting really difficult to overcome.
Besides, I never understood that argument. They DID do enough to win if the refs can get any one of 4 horrendous calls accurate. Why should they have to compensate for someone else's incompetence? At least it should be equally incompetent.

Because all everyone does is knock coaches and players, who are only kinda scholarship getting paid, for the job they do. I'm sure you won't knock Denard or Borges for last Saturday just because their job was on national television.
They took the gig, it's not even their regular job, and they crossed a negotiating line to do it. That's their right, but they're taking on the possible heat when they take the salary. And while the media has love wringing their hands about it, most aren't expecting them to get things right that are impossibly intricate...just gets things that even layman on the couch could get right (not the stuff they THINK they could get right, but really simple rules). You don't have to have all the fine points of the tuck rule down pat, but at least know possession and offensive pass interference.
And yeah, the Packers offense was bad...but the Seahawks defense is pretty good too (hard to imagine, but it certainly seems to be the case).

they were fighting for the ball, GB player made the catch and Tate wrapped his hands around him. Donovan Warren's 2009 INT vs. Indiana was more of a fight for the ball and he was awarded the INT.

What were you watching? I'm not a fan of either team (Lions fan), but where can you even remotely see "Golden Tate coming up with the ball"? All he did was wrap his arms around Jennings and when he landed on the ground he pretty much had one hand touching the ball and that was it.
Pavel trusts his eyes to Dr. Rahmani, and you should too.

Think South Park will say something about this tomorrow? Here's the mini-preview of tomorrow's episode
"As a concerned parent, Randy radically changes the way football is played at South Park Elementary. The new version of the game quickly becomes the nation’s most popular sport. One gifted student emerges as a star athlete in sarcastaball."

You gotta love ol "Cheat to Win" Pete Carroll. Despite overwhelming popular opinion backed up by clear video evidence he's like (I think it was the right call). The man truly has no honor.

Cost me $1,500.00, on that one pass.
Can anyone top that?

I gotta be honest: I would have a much easier time working up OUTRAGE if it were most any other team besides the Packers getting screwed. I fully agree that the NFL needs to open the pocketbooks and hire full-time referees and stop being so goddam stupid about this, but .... it's the Packers, so fuck 'em. As if they're the first team in the NFC North to get screwed by the refs. It probably never happened to them before so their fans don't know what it's like.

....was during that last Seattle drive that ultimately awarded Seattle the game win, I think people are forgetting earlier in the 4th quarter and GB getting a gift.
At around 11:30 or so left in the game, GB was facing a 3rd and 2 or 3 from around midfield. Rodgers pass was off, but the officials called PI on Seattle when it was clear in the replays that the Seattle defender never touched the GB receiver past the 5 yard from scrimmage mark. Never held.
If no PI had been called, GB likely would have punted the ball, and no GB TD would have resulted.
In the larger context of the entire game, that call was just another call. But place that drive, and that call, in the final drive of the game, and Seattle would have just as much to bitch, moan, and complain about, regarding the refs "giving" the game to GB.
Think about this for a minute; If no PI call on that play, no TD. Given GB's ineptitude during the entire game on offense, likely maybe only another FG would be added. That Seattle likely would have answered, as they got into FG range in their second to last drive. Given that, Seattle likely would have won the game anyways, but in a much cleaner fashion.
So, I have no sympathy for GB, or their players, or their fans, complaining about the officials awarding the game to Seattle for the mockery of football that was Seattle's last drive.
Quit complaining about the refs "giving the game" to Seattle when GB was on the receiving end of a call that nearly "gave the game" to GB instead.

The problem is that you can make that argument about a number of plays throughout the game. On the first TD that Seattle scored, there was a clear holding call that was missed on Clay Matthews. Russell Wilson was able to scramble for a first down. A few plays later, Seattle scores a TD.
I think it's quite clear that the referees were terrible throughout the entire game but IMO they were most egregiously bad during the final few minutes.

If all the holding calls were called the NFL would be unwatchable.

Just read that 70-80% of monies wagered was on GB. The Sports Books made out like bandits on that final play.
Things that make you go hmmm

As long as the ratings don't dive Goodell doesn't really care about what anyone thinks (hint, they are doing just fine LINK). If people start to do other things than watch football with their Sundays, Monday and now Thursday nights, we might see movement.
