But at least he, unlike Denard, isn't 90% of the offense. He's only 21% with 33 yards of the 151 total!

Wow, just tuned in to the Sparty score. They have to be seriously considering a backup plan for Maxwell. Who else is even on their roster as a QB? 19 passes for 31 yards? Against Eastern? Wow.

I don't know if I should, but I'm starting to feel better about our game against ND tonight. This is a pathetic effort MSU is putting forward right now.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:12 PM ^
CAN YOU IMAGINE if Eastern upsets MSU and we beat MSU later on in the year? Dantonio losing to Hart yet again?! Sparta will burn! lmao C'MON EAGLES!!!
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:13 PM ^
Right now ND is beating Sparty again this week........No logical reason says EMU should even be within 21 right now.
Watching this game you can tell Sparty started to believe their hype instead of staying hungry like they have been the last couple years. Mentally they need to just pound the ball and incorporate a little PA into it to finish this game out.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
Or maybe MSU just isn't that good. This is the third game I've watched them play and I just don't see a whole lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:31 PM ^
I know they're defense is good, but watching Boise State last night get shut-out on offense makes me think they haven't seen a functional offense yet this year. With an untested defense and an offense that lacks identity, I'm getting more and more confident about us beating them in October.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:32 PM ^
I think they do have a very good LB corps. The DL and secondary are a little overrated, though.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:13 PM ^
Edit: The ESPN box scores look awesome when you create the post and sucks upon submission. Let's just say the EMU-MSU box score is not pretty.

i bet those spartans feel like jackasses for talking shit about denard on twitter now...he was more effective against alabama than maxwell is..

Easy killer. Horse then cart.

Everytime I watch a Big Ten game I get the feeling I should be buying Rose Bowl tickets and booking a flight to Pasadena.

I know people love Bell for MSU, but behind that line he's not going to be anything better than we've seen this season outside of Boise - a good runner who can make you pay if he gets into space, but who simply can not be effective when defenders are cutting through the line. And if he isn't running for 150+ yds a game, MSU has NOTHING else offensively outside of a couple of TE-specific plays.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:18 PM ^
They could never come back.
Where the hell is the 3rd string guy that the 4th guy on the safety depth chart was tweeting about during the Alabama game?
Put him in.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:19 PM ^
Sparty. I'm delighted with your performance so far today.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:19 PM ^
Does this mean Bell's Heisman campaign is in jeopardy?
Sincerely,
The Ghost of Mike Hart
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
He was the August Heisman. He didn't even make it through September.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
You can't put something in jeopardy that never existed in the first place

EMU up 7-3 at the half. Go Eagles!

"Where's the threat?" - Coach English
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:21 PM ^
Old Dominion's QB threw for 730 yards and 5 td's today. No picks in over 70 pass attempts.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
Seems all the 3 star players Sparty has been getting of late
Coach D. has not coached them up.

What happened to "The Woodshed"???
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:27 PM ^
Eastern took them behind it in the first half.

September 22nd, 2012 at 5:45 PM ^
this thread is full of win!
best quote i found "We have all the tools (stud TE, heralded QB, playmaking receivers, experienced o-line, beastly fullbacks and a heisman caliber rb) and yet we have zero offensive identity.
Go Defense"
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:28 PM ^
Through three complete games, Bell accounts for 82% of MSU's total rushing yards, and Maxwell, not shockingly, is 94% of their passing. If either one isn't working or both are ineffective for any length of time, the MSU offense has all the power threat of Neifi Perez.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:30 PM ^
As a Cubs' fan, I have to tell you how upset I am that you brought up Neifi Perez. I've spent years trying to forget about him.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:35 PM ^
Us Tiger fans are not exactly overjoyed with Mr. Perez, either.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:31 PM ^
Sparty should wake up this half and win this somewhere around 31-7 or so....but the 1st half will always be funny.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:39 PM ^
They don't have the passing attack to put up 28 in a half without a lot of turnovers from EMU.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:33 PM ^
Honestly....is there a LT that doesn't eat Gholstons lunch? Dude gets stalemated on almost every play.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:35 PM ^
The Gholston hype has always made me laugh. There has been very limited evidence that he is an every-down DE and lots of evidence that he's meh at best.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:44 PM ^
The whole preseason "Sparty hype" made me laugh. BTN, ESPN, pretty much everyone was saying that Sparty was going to win the B10, blah blah blah. Obviously, they still could win the B10, but they're going to have a tough road if they cannot play better than we've seen them play last week and this week.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:38 PM ^
Sparty's halftime adjustment: "Eff it . . . Bell."
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:41 PM ^
Well, if it works...
Of course, the kid is going to have over 100 carries in the OOC schedule against such defensive heavyweights as CMU, Boise, and EMU. I'm sure he won't break down when he has to run the ball 30+ times against OSU, Nebraska, Wiscy, Iowa, UM, etc.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:39 PM ^
Looks like MSU is just going to pound pound pound the ball this half and throw in the occasional play action.
RCMB is being burned down as we speak.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:39 PM ^
Let's see an EMU TD this drive because if there's a 3-and-out or a TO, momentum will be swinging.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:40 PM ^
4th and 4 inside the opponents 40 and you kick? Apparently Dantonio's huevos didn't make the short drive to Spartan Stadium for today's game.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:41 PM ^
Tough decision. Maxwell can't seem to throw a completion over 3 yards, so it's either try a 4th and 4 running play or kick the field goal.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:42 PM ^
At this point, show your offense that you have a little faith and let them try to convert. It's not like you are giving up that much in terms of field position.
September 22nd, 2012 at 5:44 PM ^
Why would he have faith in them? They've stunk all year. I think in this case he had to take the points.
