when "hash" used to be associated with "bash" rather than "tag"
I hate this.
In retrospect, it would have been cool if they put #beatohio on the field for the ohio game. Just as a special occasion though, kinda like the UTL uniform. Nothing permanent though.
No, it wouldn't have been cool. It would have been lame. Not as lame as the Pro Combat unis Ohio has worn a few times for The Game in the past few years, but lame nonetheless.
Alright, maybe "cool" isn't the right word. But I mean #beatohio was trending nationally before the game; the crowd in Maui was chanting "Beat Ohio" when Michigan played; and it was obviously chanted throughout the ohio game. That was the theme of the game and it irked the ohio fans being called ohio. Seeing it on the field would have just irked them even more. Maybe "funny" is a better word than "cool". It would have been fine for a one game experience at ohio's expense.
the funny thing is normally cell towers are so conjected during a game, no one will be able to twitter anything from there phones.
they are aren't they? I heard they are having cell providers bring in mobile towers on game days. wasn't it better this past year?
"from them there phones"?
Little by little, they're warming us up for ads in Michigan Stadium come ~2014. Let's call it what it is.
If I remember correctly, you said this same thing(with a different timeframe) for the Spring Game two years ago. It doesn't really seem like much has changed since then.
The AD has already hansomely paid off your favorites, the Children of Yost in section 17, to run around the 2012 football games completely covered in PNC debit cards and hot slabs of Arby's Roast Beef. Best stadium ads EVER!!!
obviously /s, but didn't want to risk giving you a heart attack due to an aggrevated case of kids on your lawn.
LOL DEAL WITH IT
With how much you bitch and moan about ticket prices going up, I would have thought you'd start warming up to the idea of advertising considering the millions and millions of dollars that the Athletic Department is losing by keeping advertising out of the stadium..
Only on mgoblog would people be mad about this...
our fearless leader Brian has said this before: give them an inch, they take a mile.
As a poster above said, all this is slowly warming everyone up to ad's being plastered around the Big House and a little furry cartoon Wolverine running out onto the field during halftime pushing a shopping cart full of the other teams mascot and if he runs the 40 in under 10 seconds everyone in section 34 gets a free Domino's pizza!
eff that shit
I'm not totally against them doing things of this nature, I mean embrace technology (this isnt ND where the scoreboards are pre 90's tech fergodsakes) but at somepoint football is football and I dont need no more junk ad's in my life aka any pro/minor league game.
It's just the spring game.
You mean the Mott Spring Game presented by PNC Bank?
The Mott Spring Game presented by PNC Bank or the Spring Game that costs twenty bucks. You'd bitch about it either way.
I'm fine with the GOBLUE, but if I see a Rotel logo come September, someone's getting a nasty letter.
For the record, I spent 15 years of my life in advertising, selling my soul to the devil day in and day out. Advertising is the root of all evil. But I don't have to tell you all that.

Twitter and hashtags are here to stay. All for embracing the new social media
I bet the MySpace guys thought the same thing....
would have been irate with Fritz Crisler for changing the Michigan helmet to the winged design.
Eff Twitter. I just hope Michigan Stadium updates its relationship status before the spring game.
#mgoblue #SUX Attenshun national recruts: Follow your heart. schools u recrut is better than those that recrut u. Be a #spartans.
Aren't they going to have to line the field with Lax lines?
I think it's had the lines for a while now this spring, actually. Saw a picture somewhere...
"We stared at the sun until our eyes melted. And that's the way it was AND WE LIKED IT!!"
#Idontseetheproblemimeanitsnotliketheunitedstatesranks25thof34industrializednationsinmathandsciencescoreswaitwhatdidyousay?
We show that we are aware of the existence of technology and get a little more maize on the field. [shrug]
If it just said Go Blue with no hash tag on it, I would like it because it would be unique like Tennessee's checkerboard endzone or Bear Down painted on Arizona's field.
Some real reactionaries.
Initially upon reading this I felt somewhat resistent, too.
But... let's just consider for a moment that the powers that be for Blue might not be drawing these ideas out of a hat or elsewhere... This could represent yet another way that we are the Leaders.
#hashtagsarefortwitter
Surely no one is surprised with our Fearless AD (tm) at the helm?
No biggie for the Motts / PNC Spring Game. But no thanks for the season.
Though if he gets tough and gives us a choice, that or the mascot...
You little bastards better stay out of my begonias...

An even crappier idea would be to put the #goblue on the helmets instead of the wings.
Or using kids in wheelchairs plastered with advertising slogans for tackling dummies.
If it ain't broke....
The field was just fine without this. I absolutely HATE the hashtag on the field.
HEre is an interesting article i found on a website i frequent. http://sporttechie.com/2012/04/26/goblue-trending-114/
I like that we are one of the first to do this and as always the leaders and best.
