OT- Tigers vs Redsox open thread
1 PM ESPN2 Verlander vs Lester. The road to the World Series starts today!
LETS GO TIGERS!
I was referrencing the commercial, which kept shouting "$12!" at about double the volume of every other commercial.
Nice grab by Cabrera.
Kind of sad the crowd cheered for him falling over on a simple pop fly. Followed by what was clearly an error at third, but for some miracle it was scored a hit. He looks more out of shape than normal. Atleast he can hit.
Hell YEah MIggy!
Got 'im with the hook! Man is he good.
Alright, so to all of you arm chair (or office chair) managers out there: with Verlander sitting at 83 pitches thrown, do you bring him back out for the 7th? Would you let your ace pitcher reach (or even exceed) 100 pitches on opening day?
83 isn't anything to JV, even it is opening day.
So ummm Verlander has gotta be done right? Please? You don't wanna burn his arm out too early in the season.
Tigers lead 1-0!
Aviiiiila!!
AVILA!!!!!!!!
AVILA! A very clutch at bat.
hells yeah avila
Nice, JV might go back out now for the 8th with a lead.
Nice knock Avila! Good patience!!
quick inning for JV....he could finish this thing, but I think Leyland goes to Valverde.
Is it just me or does Verlander look like a ninja riding a cheetah out there? He's unreal!
Attaboy Ajax!
triple! nice Ajax.
Make them pay for it Prince!
That was the fastest triple i've ever seen.
Wow, intentionally walking Cabrera to get to Fielder. I love this lineup!
That's something to get used to, Miguel walks and Prince gets an RBI.
Awards so far:
Defensive MVP: JV
Offenseive MVP: Peralta (Got on base 3 times)
Attaboys: Austin Jackson, Alex Avilla
Shake it off kid: Brennan Boesch
Good baseball today, Tigers fans!!
I wonder when the last time was that a pitcher threw to first twice in a row with Cabrera occupying it. Big stolen-base threat there.
Prince with his first RBI as a Tiger.
Alright....time for the other JV to do his thing. Go Big Potato.
Verlander's pitch count? Was hoping leyland would let him complete this one.
ESPN says 105. I'm fine with him not coming out for the ninth. If this is May or later in the season, then definitely let him come out, but not in April.
Now, Valverde needs to get his act together and get an out!
as in I won't sleep any different tonight but come one. Let him shut out the hated Sox on opening day with a 2 hitter. Show the MLB the big man is back for more again this year.
It's 2-1 Tigers, Top 9.
Alright, now just a DP to end it. Come on, Papa Grande.
2 down. I want to see a dance...
You jinxed him. Way to go.
Base hit Red Sox. They tie it.
well, blown save off the bat.
Man, Rod Allen said exactly what I was thinking. 49 of 49.....and 0 for 1.
im kinda okay with 98%. as long as he gets his next 49.
He can get a win out of this now, right?
Yes, he'd be the winning pitcher if the Tigers win in the 9th. Yes, that's highly ironic.
blown save and blown win for Verlander
Wooohoooo! Thanks for taking Verlander out.
Just effing let Verlander complete the damn thing.
Oh well, extra innings means we get to watch more ball so I guess whatever.
that was close.
Eh, I can. If you can't trust your closer to finish off a 2-run lead, then you're screwed. There's no need to stretch your starters out any further than is necessary in April.
105 pitches in his first start of the year, with an All-Star closer who was perfect last year ready to go?
It's really hard to question tha move with a huge helping of hindsight.
Boo Verlander not getting a win.
Yay more baseball.
Tigers got a little stew brewing here
