Womens BBall makes NCAA Tourney for 1st time in 11 years
Congratulations to the Women's Basketball team, making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001! They are a 11 seed and will play 6 oklahoma on the road.
The selection show is on ESPN and they will be discussing the matchups at 8pm on ESPNU.
my pick here and going with the Lady Wolverines making the tournament for the first time since 2001.
THEY'RE IN!!!
Michigan an 11 seed! Will play Oklahoma!!! Yes!!!!!!
Oklahoma in Norman well an 11 seed is kinda high.
How does OU as a 6-seed get home court advantage? I also saw that for Purdue (in WL) and Vanderbilt (in Nashville).
In the women's tournament, teams are allowed to play on their home court. In fact, teams that host during the first and second rounds automatically play at home--regardless of their seed. It's done to help with attendance.
Even a #14 seed (Arkansas-LR) gets to play at home against a number 3 seed. Looks like it pays off to host first round games. How about Ann Arbor for 2013?
Who cares what their seed is, who they play, or where? All that matters is they finally got a bid. This is a turning point for the program.
For the record, as an 11 seed, they very well may have been the last at-large team in.
Finally! And it was nice to have their name called early and not have to sweat it out any longer.
Female Joe Lunardi was wrong - had UM as first 4 out.
Go Blue!

Charlie Creme has now called Michigan wrong three straight years. He had the U-M women as one of the last four in the last two years, and each time they were snubbed.
Also: In a brief item, Mike Rothstein notes that Michigan and Oklahoma have met only once before--a 96-86 U-M loss during a holiday tournament in Norman in December 1993.
My alumni, UWGB lost one game this year and got a 7th seed, and have to play iowa state, in iowa. Now tell me if that is fair
FGCU lost twice all year - beat Michigan State and a few other majors - and got a 12 seed.
Life ain't fair and neither is NCAA seeding.

Murray St's men's team lost one game this year and beat two ranked teams and got a 6 seed. It happens.
I am very happy for these ladies and Coach Boresth for all the hard work they put in getting this team over the bubble and making it to the Big Dance. And with Miss. Michigan coming again next season the future is bright. Oh and we can add the 3rd place winer in the Miss. Michigan also so not to bad.
Congratulations to Borseth and that team - looking like a banner year for M hoops all around - really glad they made it - they've been fun to watch
funny though Ohio got screwed as an 8th seed. That is way low for that team, but anytime Ohio is screwed it is a good day.
Not only that, but if they get past Florida, they have to face (#1 undefeated) Baylor in the second round. Even if the game is in Ohio (Bowling Green), there is very little chance the lady Buckeyes will be throwing a sweet sixteen party this year.
Woot!
Since I live about 25 minutes from Norman, I may just have to make my way down there...
The last time both Men's and Women's Basketball teams were in the NCAA Tournament was the 1997-98 season. However the 1997-98 season has been vacated on the Men's side, so if you want to talk NCAA official-it was the 1989-90 season.
Can't wait for to see so much Maize and Blue over the next few weeks!
beat OHIO then we could have a little problem, cause their second game would be Sunday, and the woman's team play Sunday at 7:20. But I guess that is a great problem to have if your a fan of the University and all the teams.

On my TiVo sched CBS's last Sunday slot is 5 PM ET, but both TBS & TNT show two evening slots each (7 & 9:30 and 6 & 8:30 respectively).
Congrats ladies! This is a HUGE step in the right direction for the womens basketball program and Borseth deserves a lot of credit for coaching through all the adversity of not making it all those years. The future is bright indeed. This is just the beginning. GO BLUE!!
The future is bright for both the women's and men's team. Well done, Coach Borseth and crew. Looks like my DVR will get a basketball workout over the next week.
Both basketball teams have come a long ways
A video of the team's reaction to being selected has been posted at mgoblue.com.
The team's first-round game against Oklahoma will be held on Sunday, March 18, at 7:30 ET and will be telecast on ESPN2/ESPN3.
Go Blue!
