meta: a couple of site updates (mobile apps)
1) user pages have returned from the dysfunctional wilderness
2) restoration of the apps is in process but will take a few more days. Sorry about this -- this was not my intended upgrade path but due to the kludgy nature of the existing API* on the site and an unfortunate fiasco with the intended test site, I blew up the extant services. We are moving to a stable release that should make it easier to expand and improve the services in the future.
*[unncessary detail that developer types might find interesting: some guy extended and vastly improved the services module a while back when we were first deploying the iPhone app, so we took his code from his github and found that it worked -- pretty much unlike the official services module. That was outside of any upgrade paths and whatnot and now that the services module has been updated to his new standard we were going to have to deal with this eventually. I was just hoping it wouldn't be user-facing. Fail.]

Me and my Bell Systems "Travelling Crime Lab" can help...

I'd upvote this, but it wouldn't affect your point total anyways.

how does this affect alex kozan?
February 7th, 2012 at 12:04 PM ^
Problem is he has less than 100 pts so he needs the app to be working to start the thread.

I don't understand 95% of what you just wrote but

Most of it's not important. Basically, he's updating the software for the site to the latest version. The latest version has better upgrade paths so this hopefully shouldn't happen again in the future.

As a software developer I feel honored that I can count myself amongst the tens of people who understand what Brian's technical update was about.

I know this will make the app work if I keep trying.

That's how I operate all the electronics in my house. At least, that's how I do it when my kids aren't around.

she would have taken care of things. These new-fangled phones are touchy.

Brian, can't you just have a #6 or #8 stick her hand in the bright goo and make it all work better?

dim x as integer do until x > 5 x = 1 x = x + 1 loop
February 7th, 2012 at 3:47 PM ^
You can condense your code by combining lines 3 and 4 into x++ = 1

What's the rush it's not like I'd be going anywhere?
February 8th, 2012 at 1:00 PM ^
Or also... x = 2. Have fun waiting for x > 5.

If any users have further problems with mgoblog, I highly suggest that you delete the "System32" folder from your computer. Improves performance a lot.
Note: By improve I do not mean improve.

I've found that a far quicker, simpler, easier, and less intrusive method is to enter the following key stroke:
ALT + F4
It's also a great cheat code for most major computer games.
February 7th, 2012 at 6:44 PM ^
Did not know what Alt + F4 would do. I do now.

That doesn't make the pain go away though.
