Well that was a serious ass kicking...I hate those fuckers
February 5th, 2012 at 3:03 PM ^
How frustrating that we can't hit a shot to save our lives until it is too late.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:09 PM ^
What is frustrating is that two of our players, THJ and Smotz, play like mice for the biggest game of the year. We didn't need that, but a win would have done so much for us in the short- and long term. THJ didn't move or play like he wanted to win. Evan doesn't know what a box out is and on the offensive end, decided that not moving was done best beyond the arc...frustrating

We're gonna miss Novack and Douglas more than you think.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:06 PM ^
You really should learn how to spell their names. 0-for-2 there.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
Who gives a fat rats ass about spelling, you, you got anything better to do?
February 5th, 2012 at 3:07 PM ^
for sure. stauskus should easily replace douglass, imo.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:05 PM ^
Novak had another efficient day - 14 points on not many shots. He needs more looks.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:06 PM ^
I know that we were playing with house money today (lower-ranked, on the road, already beat them in AA), but the way that we lost was disappointing. We had a chance to make a run if we had hit ANY big shots, but we shot and rebounded so poorly that we let Sparty win with a mediocre performance on their part.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:06 PM ^
How do their professors still have eligibility?
February 5th, 2012 at 3:06 PM ^
It wasn't our day.
It happens. Even in places like this.

whatever makes you feel better about being dominated
February 5th, 2012 at 3:10 PM ^
we still have the lead over them in hockey overall and this season, lead over them overall in football and end their streak in 2012. You know what fuck them :) i'm happy! Up yours Spartards!
February 5th, 2012 at 3:13 PM ^
What? Hockey...Great, we have beaten them at a fringe sport, which more than makes up for the loss today and the ass-kicking they have given us on teh football field the last four years! I just hope there is sarcasm there.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:19 PM ^
pound her or redtube some porn and stop bitching. State's dominance over us these past 4 years ends this fall. State is starting to crash back down to Earth. Let me ask you this have they won any BCS titles under the Great Dantonio yet? They haven't won a title since the Johnson administration seriously pal chill.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:33 PM ^
and your calling our hockey a "fringe" sport?! Ok pal here's a news flash if you don't like hockey thats ok but don't EVER call this school's hockey team a fringe sport! Next to Michigan Football, Michigan hockey is life at UM! If its fringe to ESPN then fuck them. Nobody cares what they have to say anyways but in the fanbase of us hockey fans it's close to the air we breathe.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:50 PM ^
No need to stoop to rationalizations and THEN insult them, lol. Hockey? OHHHH BOY! Since when does GoBlog explode over hockey coverage? They're up right now, that's all.
"It will end in 2012!"
Sincerely,
2011,
2010,
and 2009.

Its called a rivalry. Winless all year except at OSU marks a successful season for me in football
February 5th, 2012 at 3:08 PM ^
this game is followed by the "waste management open"
February 5th, 2012 at 3:14 PM ^
talk about coperate greed...Whats next...The Deja Vu classic?
February 5th, 2012 at 3:25 PM ^
That. Sounds. Awesome.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:09 PM ^
Can anyone try to convince me of one reason Beilein shouldn't bench THJ? Seriously.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
i'm sure he looks down his bench and says "shit". no so much next year.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:25 PM ^
yeah, but not getting that starting position just because of his daddy may make him play with some earnest instead of entitlement...1/10 is downright juvenile...
February 5th, 2012 at 3:38 PM ^
I would be less concerned about it if THJ would play some fucking defense, but his bad shooting has led to very lazy defense. He can't contribute on either end right now. Tom Crean benched Wofford to start the 2nd half. Why can't coach B do the same thing??
February 5th, 2012 at 3:13 PM ^
February 5th, 2012 at 3:27 PM ^
i really thought we would see improvement out of smot and vogrich which would provide some great depth. uh, not so much. very disappointing. their minutes may disappear next year with the incoming frosh.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:13 PM ^
No arguement here, although he needs more work with the coacheshe forces to many bad shotswhen he's nothitting.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:15 PM ^
I've been thinking the same thing for the past 5 or 6 games. I think he needs to earn his spot back, he has been just rotten in all phases of the game.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
He's been awful lately. He's been shooting 17% for the past couple of months. I hope he gets his mojo back, because he should probably be otherwis riding the bench.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:22 PM ^
Who would start over him? Vogrich?
Given our extremely thin bench, it's probably better to just keep playing THJ and hope he can get through it.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:16 PM ^
Their plan was to stop Burke today and they did it, hats off to them.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:29 PM ^
but THJ was clearly the biggest culprit. dawson had a better game and he only played 17 minutes. he outscored thj 10-4 in those minutes.
much different game if thj does anything - on either end of the court.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
A tough loss, but not unexpected. I am not inclined to say players gave up - MSU is a very good defensive club at home, and they basically shut down UM from inside and forced them to shoot a bunch of jumpers. MSU did exactly what they needed to do, and this team (as currently constructed) is going to be worked over by larger teams. It happens.
Still, the team is moving toward the postseason and will learn from this game. Illinois and Nebraska are next, and those need to be wins before OSU comes to town. But right now, considering how relatively young and inexperienced this team is at certain positions, I'm comfortable with the direction of the team.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
Just a Michigan St. domination. Eh, it happens though. I'm still not sure how we managed to hang around the 10 pt. defecit mark the whole game though. The fact that, once again, Michigan hung around enough that if they were to have hit a few crucial shots at crucial times, they could have made a run to get within ~5 pts (and chip away from there). But once again they missed shots they needed to make to win, and THJ looked like sh*t. It happens. Give Izzo and MSU credit, they played a great game and were prepared/had a great gameplan (offensively and defensively).
February 5th, 2012 at 3:18 PM ^
An adequate symbol of today's game.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:23 PM ^
Annoying game. The terrible first-half effort really did us in. I thought we competed better in the second half but just couldn't string together a run. Every time we looked like we might have it in us, we'd miss a layup and then Green would drill a fadeaway at the other end. Kudos to Green - he backed up his words with probably the best game he's ever played against Michigan.
Oh well - I'll take the season split.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
We didn't even come close in this one. The first 5 minutes dictated the pace of the game. We were sluggish on offense and nonchalant on defense. No intensity whatsover.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:33 PM ^
I think I'd still give the nod to Iowa. I'm scratching my head as to how we lost to those guys by 16. We've just had a hard time keeping up our intensity on the road, especially in the first half of games.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:42 PM ^
i think we may have overlooked them a bit. their bigs (especially that frosh) played pretty well in the first half. then they started hitting 3s in the second half and blew it open.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:34 PM ^
you obviously didn't watch the iowa or virginia games? state just poses a difficult match-up for us with all their size, and it showed with the rebounding edge. it's a credit we won 3 in a row against them.
outside of a couple layups, i thought the D was pretty good overall. green hit 3 or 4 15 ft turnarounds. there's nothing you can do to stop that. he missed those in past games.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
They have a good basketball team, we have a good basketball team, and we split the series this year. We both should get good tournament seeds, and, as always, we're better people.
Worse things happen.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
What a waste of time. Got teased when M got back to within 8. Wish we didn't spend the entire first half outside of the 3 point line. Need moar dishes to Jordan Morgan on pick and rolls.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:44 PM ^
February 5th, 2012 at 3:33 PM ^
Those people on here that think this is still a Sweet Sixteen team I hope you see now that we have a large hill to climb for that to be possible. Rebounding is about effort and hustle and I did not see either today. I know we were on the road, blah... blah..... blah, but with THJ and Smortz. playing the way they are and having no bech rotation both tournaments are going to be tough.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:37 PM ^
we lost to the #9 team on the road right?
February 5th, 2012 at 3:40 PM ^
look at the teams ranked 10-20 and ask yourself if we can't beat them on a neutral court; despite thj. i say yes. and i say we can beat the top 10 teams, if thj gets his act together.
February 5th, 2012 at 3:42 PM ^
Dominated by the number 9 team on the road
