OT: Lions-Saints Playoff Game Open Thread
OK, this other games sucks, so get all your positive Lion talk in now, since not being able to hold a 2nd string QB to under 40 has probably killed any chance of seeing the Lions win their second playoff game in most of our lifetimes. At least I'm not still in New Orleans for it.

This sentiment for me started early in the season and has only grown as the season wore on and the defense regressed.
If I see him run cover 2 again...

Playing blitzless defense against the Saints is completely unforgiveable. Brees's only bad decisions came when we got real pressure on him.

Alfonzo Dennard please please please.

Well, one things for sure. Pretty confident that Calvin Johnson is the best wideout in the league.

Can't believe Payton had Brees throwing for the endzone when they were up 17 with 3:00 to go. Also, Aaron Berry and Alphonso Smith should never play another down in a Lions uniform. FUCKING TURRIBLE DBs!!!

Sean Payton looks like an old lesbian.
EDIT: Apparently there is an old lesbian on this board who was offended and went around negging all my posts in this thread. Who is it? M-Wolverine, perhaps?

So I wasn't negging anyone. But this one probably deserved it. Probably deserves a ban too. Maybe you should just realize people aren't out to get you, you're just a dick.
But I'll neg you now, just because it upsets you so.

Go root for the Bears.

The "Same old Lions" don't have a winning record or make the playoffs. They are young, and the back 7 is awful, but to break out that term is pretty cheap.

this is the lions I grew up with.

With whom is the Lions defense highly "rated"? Pretty much everyone wants Gunther Cunningham's head on a rail.

Lions in the playoffs.
Party likes it's 1999.
TD taken away on the accidental whistle - only lost by 10.
Team on the rise.
Respect.
All these "I told you so" comments suck.

defense was completely neutralized - front four couldn't really get pressure. the linebackers are out of postion and don't know how to tackle and the secondary gives up the big play. A team effort!

It's going to be a long off season, but there are moves the Lions front office needs to make. Resigning Avril, bringing in Cortland Finnegan, picking up a few interior linemen, and shoring up the running game.

Arguing with one of my buddies who happens to be a Bears fan. I fail to understand people who take more pleasure and talk more shit in another teams loss than their own teams wins. This type of "fan" baffles me.

with 30 seconds left? Am I the only one who noticed that the Saints took a knee on 4th and goal? It was a change of possession! How did the clock keep running?

Game day in Nola. I was disappointed that there were so few Lions fans here. About one or two percent of the stadium were Lions fans. I think all the hotels are booked for the BCS nat champ game on Monday, making it hard for Lions fans to get here last minute. Saints fans took for granted that they would win, and I was really hoping to show them up. All the LSU tailgaters were pulling for the Saints too. I wish more Michiganders would've stuck around after the Sugar Bowl.

NFL tickets are not like bowl games where fans have ample opportunity to travel. The vast majority of the seats were filled with Saints season ticket holders.

Well looks like the Lions still have some work to do. Namely they need to get a Defense. Specifically a pass rush, a run defense and a secondary that can cover someone. Oh and what's up with that horrid tackling!? Sheesh. Lastly they need another money WR to take some of the load of Megatron.

Uhhh the lions had over 5000 yards passing this year... Wide receivers might be one only a few things they don't need. They probably have one of the best receiving corps in the league. The rest of your post I agree with.
