SUH crashes car in Portland - not hurt (or drunk)
http://www.charter.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CD9RD77AG2%40news.ap.org%…
Apparetenty he was visiting his home town and lost control of a 1970 coupe. Nobody injured and he wasn't drunk.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:34 PM ^
Lost control of his car. At 1:15am. On a Friday night. With friends in the car. In his hometown (I'm sure he's the hometown hero, and perhaps the officers "forgot" the breathalyzer test).
Cut him.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
I'm not usually one of those "STOP ALL PRESSES INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY" guys, but you're essentially claiming that a team should cut a guy based on your own speculation of a police department conspiracy.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
No, I'm saying cut him because of the totality of all his transgressions during his tenure. It's not just because of this crash.
Oh, and he's crashed his car late on a weekend night before, too:

So getting into two accidents, one while sober, and one while being below the legal limit means he shouldn't have a job?
"Hometown Hero" or not, I highly doubt two seperate cops are going to let a drunk person walk away from the scene. There are plenty of famous people, and atheletes that have been given DUI's. Didn't Jalen Rose get arrested recently?
Stonum has two DUI charges, and he's still on the team.
I'm not condoning DUI's in anyway, but Suh wasn't even charged with anything. To say he should lose is job is asinine.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
I agree. The circumstances are highly suspect.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
What is suspect? Because of the time? Is it just a hunch?
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
Seriously? Other than being a bad driver why should they cut him?
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
You're like a modern day Sherlock Holmes!
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
Did he stomp on the other driver afterwards?
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
Just the lightpole and the fountain
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
He did but it was only to get out of the situation.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
I'm completely stunned to see people saying "cut him" Please tell me you are being sarcastic or are on some powerful drugs. There is no way, unless Suh literally rips a man's head off that they should cut him right now.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
I'm glad to see you have your priorities straight.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
Cut him?? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Yeah his actions on and off the field haven't been the greatest at times to say the least but he's still one of the best d-lineman in the NFL. Lets just give away one of the best players at his position in the ENTIRE nfl. Makes no sense.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
I agree cutting him makes no sense but WTF, that guy needs to get his shit together.
The Lions, for the first time in memory, are actually putting a decent season together and giving their diehard, loyal fans something to be proud of.... and our star player has to act like a total asshole and taint that for us by acting like a classless disgrace.
What an embarrassment. I'm really starting to not like him. Suh get your shit together and grow up man.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Just out of curiosity, what makes him an asshole and classless disgrace off the field? He's supposed to act like an asshole on the field, that's his job. Up until the foot stomp, most of the fines he received were questionable at best. Look sepcifically at the Dalton and Cutler fines.
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
You're not allowed to put someone in a headlock and twist their head while slamming them to the ground, especially after the ball is already gone.
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Exactly. And for me it's not only that but it's also how he acted in the aftermath of The Stomp.... Trying to play it off like he did, in his post-game comments, like it was some accidental thing is total bullshit and insulting people's intelligence. Come on. It was obvious what really happened. It's on video, so don't try to pull that shit.
Then he petitions Gooddell to get his suspension reduced....
I really don't think he gets it and it's doubtful he learns from this.
The proper response would've been an apology in the post-game, taking his punishment, and learning from this. The first 2 didn't happen, so I'm skeptical that the third will.
....Then in the aftermath of all this he crashes his car a week later. Which, in and of itself might be nothing. Who knows. None of us has read the police report. But in the aftermath of The Stomp, it's a bigger news story than it ordinarily would be because he's already in the media spotlight.
The dude is just becoming a sideshow distraction while the rest of the team has a lot to be proud of for their on-field performance this year.
Dude needs to just chill out, lay low for now, and just grow up in general.
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
I agree with the stomp, it was obvious. It has been obvious that the media has been looking to call him a dirty player for the longest time. He finally gave them a reason to call him dirty. But to call him a classless asshole?
He puts on yearly football camps in Detroit for youths. He paid $2.6 mil of his ROOKIE contract to Nebraska. And to quote an SI article: "A Detroit Free Press columnist recently recalled the time he was at his son's football practice and Suh, friends with one of the other dads, happened to show up. Suh told the kids he'd be there for their playoff game, and a few weeks later there he was, with hot dogs and hot chocolate for the 10 year olds."
If he's a classless asshole, he's the nicest classless ashole I've ever seen.
December 3rd, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
You raise really good points. "Classless asshole" was a bit harsh. (Sorry, Ndamakung, if you're reading this. Doubt he reads MGo though.)
I guess he's a mixed bag. (All people are, really.) Yeah he has flaws, but on the other hand he's also used his position to do some really good things. That's admirable.
The stomp (and how he responded in the aftermath) was just really frustrating though. Dude needs to get a grip.
December 3rd, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
Supposedly his petition is kinda NFLPA policy, if so I think he should have told them "I've got enough bad PR now, I think the NFLPA can take the minor PR hit". Totally agree that he needs to lay low and stay down, up until the stomp all his actions have been questionable but not "dirtiest player in the league", and even the stomp was more or less him losing his temper, and not an intent to severly injure.
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
So you're not allowed to tackle someone? Suh had his hands on him while he was letting the football go. How does he know Dalton doesn't still have it? What if Dalton held onto it and scored a TD, then Suh is a horrible player with a lack of an effort. Plus, if you look closely at the Dalton hit, Dalton's head never moved. Suh's right arm was behind Dalton's head the entire time.
In all seriousness, if that's a RB he's tackling, is it a penalty? Is it a fine? He didn't lead with his head, and he's tackling the ball carrier. My guess is no, but since it's a QB, it's wrong.
No offense to your reasoning, because in today's NFL, you just can't hit the QB. But if Dalton's hit was fineable, they need to just put red jerseys on all QB's and not allow anyone to hit them.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
Has almost happened a few times this year actually!
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
I can only hope the accident knocked some sense into him.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
Yeah don't think cutting him makes sense but you're right, he really needs to get his shit together and quit looking like an idiot. I really liked Suh his first year but I'm starting not to because he makes bonehead decisions and to be honest he seems like a liar. I couldn't believe he denied kicking that guy. Lost a lot of respect for him.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
No.
As a player, however, I would hope that this suspension helps him recognize that the aggressiveness is fine inside the whistles, not outside the whistles. He's a great defensive lineman and, I would hope that this accelerates some of the needed maturation.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
I like Suh and his natural talents as a football player. But his act is getting really tired. I would hate to see the hard work of all the other players on the Lions team and everyone in that organization to be overshadowed by one stupid player. They need to sit him down(if they haven't already) and draw the line right now.

December 3rd, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
I wonder if all these same guys wanted Laimbeer or Rodman cut in the 80s..
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
There have been criminals running around the NFL for decades, and people don't think Suh should be able to keep a spot on a team that he helped (or is currently helping to) ressurrect because he crashed a car. The article was 3 and 1/2 paragraphs long and said he wasn't impaired and was cooperative. Those are the only things we know about this incident.
I saw a lady crash into a small tree going around the round-a-bout at the front of my neighborhood a month ago because she was texting. Should I call her boss and tell them to fire her?
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:14 PM ^
Did he stomp in the gas pedal at the wrong time?
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
It's simple. He was just trying to go forward when the curb grabbed his car to keep it back. He was just trying to remove himself from the situation by hitting the fountain and lamp post back to back. THEN he was just trying to regain his balance when he hit the tree. If he wanted to kill a tree on purpose he'd become a lumberjack. He wouldn't hit itwith his car. The media is trying to contort the facts about the situation. Suh knows the truth about what happened and so does the squirrell that lives in the tree and that's all that matters.
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
I um triple posted there. It seems the ol' laptop got a little whacky.
December 3rd, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
Ok so um, I'm writing over the third of my triple post. Don't really have much in line of content to fill this with. .....How about a story? Let's do you want to hear about the time I accidentally wore pajamas to school or the time I thought I found a diamond in the snow and put it in the freezer...as you do with diamonds.(Huh?) oh yeah the diamond was a doorknob apparently.
December 3rd, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
I actually like the diamond/doorknob story. Nice contribution, it was funny.
December 3rd, 2011 at 9:59 PM ^
If you found a dimaond the size of a doorknob it would be about 3,000 carrots.
December 3rd, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
grow the F up

Only God and Suh's true fans can judge his driving record.
