B1G Award winners announced-Molk wins Offensive Lineman of year
Didn't see this posted yet...
BTN released the award winners and first and second team big ten winners. Molk wins best lineman, and was first team center by the coaches, and second team by the media. Pretty cool to see him get some recognition for his hard work and great season!
Denard second team by media. Lewan second team by the coaches. Martin second team (tied) by both the coaches and the media.
Multiple Michigan players made appearances in the honorable mention category.

Edit: I'm an idiot. I obviously didn't look closely enough. More in depth discussion on the awards can be found here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/all-big-ten-open-thread. Mods, if you want to delete this, go ahead. Sorry everyone!

No surprise. He deserved it!

RVB was named Honorable Mention by both the media and coaches but I think he deserved to be second team. For most of the season he was our best defensive lineman and he was a hell of a leader. O well, at least he got some recognition. Michigan will miss you RVB!

"Named for Ohio State's Jack Tatum and Purdue's Rod Woodson"
-- Are you kidding me???? A Defensive Back Award, given the name "Woodson," no less, and it's NOT for our man Charles??? Ridiculous!!!!!!

Our Woodson gets his name on the B1G Defensive POTY award along with Bronko Nagurski
November 28th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
but didn't they name the DPOY award after Charles? Since they don't repeat names on any of the trophies, I would rather CWood's name be on the Defensive Player of the Year Award than the Defense Back of the Year Award

And since Rod Woodson is the CB that Charles is on the verge of passing for virtually every record in the NFL, I think it's just fine for him to be on the trophy.

May sound bad, but Jack and Rod were both all time greats.

Holy crap, I can't believe I've never seen that video. I forgot how good he was. Amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Except for, you know, our Woodson is the only primarily defensive player to ever win the heisman torphy... as a true junior no less.
November 28th, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
How many heisman's did they win?
November 28th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
We are going to miss Molk. It seemed like he was the leader of that offensive line. We're going to need Omameh and Lewan to step up big time next year.

Hey coaches, why no love for Kovacs? Not even an honorable mention.
November 28th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
Kovacs won the Gritty McGritterson award for the most gritty player. The article forgot to mention that.
November 28th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
I have a very hard time believing there are two better safeties in the B1G. COME ON, MAN!
November 28th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Even without the Heismans, at least they are two of the best ever. What about the Ameche - Dayne RB Award? Both from Wisconsin. There were no other deserving RB's in history. Hell, Archie Griffin won two Heismans (I know, ohio player. But it proves the point). Most of those names are just plain stupid.

Big 10 offensive player of the year, and can't make the Big 10 network's 1st team offense. #CmonMan

This.

You know what the most disgusting thing about these lists are, Mike Martin and William Gholston on the same tier as each other. Absolutely sickening...

JT Floyd ---> Honorable Mention
November 28th, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
Minus all the points
November 29th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
Won't like that.
November 29th, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
So obviously the Big Ten has no other good Dbs to fill this spot. Floyd is not very good.
November 28th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
the David Cone Back-Up QB of the Year Award???
November 28th, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
they need to lose the hyphenated names. they're cumbersome and stupid. I'm glad that the B1G championship trophy is just the Stagg trophy now because at least we'll have one normal sounding award in this league
November 28th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
Kovacs not be named at least 2nd Team All Big Ten is an absolute farce.
November 28th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
I heard that Kovacs is considering walking-on to the 2nd team all B1G.

I'm sure any team in the B1G would trade all the recognition on this All Conference team for a B1G Championship.
