College Gameday and Early Games Open Thread 10/08
College Gameday is at the Red River Shootout this week. Coming up after the next break they'll be talking about Michigan.
The early games are mostly lame except for the main game:
- Oklahoma-Texas (ABC)
- Minnesota at Purdue (ESPN)
- Louisville at North Carolina (ESPN2)
- Maryland at Georgia Tech (ESPNU)
- Illinois at Indiana (BTN 2:30, so kind of a late afternoon game)

Michigan a ten win team..... folks are coming around.

Even people in Ohio are starting to believe?
October 8th, 2011 at 11:39 AM ^
Herbie doesn't leve in Ohio anymore
October 8th, 2011 at 11:40 AM ^
Or it didn't happen.

Pics of tide in the process of turning or gtfo.

This is TREMENDOUS.

This is the greatest thing in the history of things. If he was pointing, it would be even more betterest.

Front page this, stat!

Exhibit #728 as to why there should be no up-voting cap.
October 8th, 2011 at 12:21 PM ^
I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
I will start believing myself. Go Blue
October 8th, 2011 at 12:35 PM ^
Exactly. Some of my non-UofM fans are getting riled up because "Michigan doesn't deserve to be ranked so high." I tell them that rankings (in the first half of a season) are what outsiders use to evaluate a team because they don't intimately know the team or the opponents they've faced (like we know Michigan). Let us play some stiff opponents, answer some questions and we'll see where the chips fall.
October 8th, 2011 at 1:08 PM ^
"Who should be ranked in front of them"? Rankings aren't a future assessment or prediction; they're a resume, up to that point. Lose some with others winning, and we'll go down. Win more with others losing, and we'll go up. Unless you're non-BCS conference, no on cares who you played. It didn't matter that FSU or USC were the only team in bad ACC or PAC-10 conferences, respectively. Just that they kept winning. That's how it works, whether it's good or bad.

Al Borges and his offense...intimately
October 8th, 2011 at 10:51 AM ^
There are some really crappy B1G games this afternoon. Iowa-PSU and Minn-Purdue don't look like much fun, Ill-Ind doesn't look great either. Wish the OSU and Michigan games weren't on at the same time.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:57 AM ^
Yeah, this is bullshit. On at essentially the same time: Michigan game, Tigers ALCS game, Red Wings game, and the OSU game. I mean these people scheduling these sporting events need to all sit down together and coordinate this out because channel flipping between these games in unacceptable.

October 8th, 2011 at 12:17 PM ^
Create a thread about that.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
The Minn-Purdue game could be very entertaining, in a terrible sort of way.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:54 AM ^
I hate night games. It's one thing when you get to go to the game at the Big House and you're tailgating all day, but sitting on the couch nervously for 8 hours is not my cup of tea.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
I feel ya dawg. But you gotta love the atmosphere, even if it is on tv. I get so excited for night games!
October 8th, 2011 at 11:10 AM ^
The nervous energy is making me incredibly productive around the house this morning.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:20 AM ^
I wish I could do that. I have so much homework to do, but my brain just shuts down before games.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
That's why I'm doing house stuff instead of work stuff; it doesn't require focus. I can scrub a bathtub and still ponder the implications of the triple option.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:24 AM ^
Gotcha. I don't think I've ever been jealous that someone else has more chores to do than me.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:53 AM ^
I dont want to think what this bar bill will be at kickoff
October 8th, 2011 at 12:19 PM ^
That'll make 3 1/2 hours of the wait just that much longer.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
I'm going to be taking nervous dumps all day. I hate that.
October 8th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
You're taking your responsive bowels for granted. Some would pay to have that effective of a fiber source, appreciate it.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:24 AM ^
Y U THINK UR OREGON AND WEAR THAT?
October 8th, 2011 at 11:31 AM ^
Whoever made the schedule for today is either on drugs, or incompetent, or both. Our whole region is waiting for multiple games all starting in primetime...ridiculous.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:36 AM ^
At PSU, perhaps gonna take some meetings?
October 8th, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
I'm glad that the Red River Shootout is still in the Cotton Bowl and hasn't yet been moved to JerryWorld. Then again, I'm sure that's right around the corner.
October 8th, 2011 at 12:09 PM ^
Relax. The new renovations at the cotton bowl were dependent on signing a long term contract to stay. They're staying put.
October 8th, 2011 at 12:10 PM ^
The worst thing about living in Pittsburgh is we get all the random shitty Big East games like West Virginia - Connecticut instead of good games like Oklahoma - Texas.
Looks like I'll be watching the Georgia Tech - Maryland game. The triple option is the coolest offense in college football right now.
October 8th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
making me think our O and D performances last week were less "juggernaut-y".
Not that I expected any different from Minny today, (but was hoping a little.)
October 8th, 2011 at 12:32 PM ^
Minnesota will not win a game the rest of the year...just gave away a fumble on their own 15 while already being down 10-0 in the first.
I just feel pity for them.
October 8th, 2011 at 12:44 PM ^
anyone else concerned that 2-2 Purdue is beating on the gophers just as hard as we did?
October 8th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
Did you see Purdue get smashed by Notre Dame in the exact same situation as us (at home at night)? They got destroyed. It wasn't even a matchup. Purdue is awful (I am a Purdue fan).
October 8th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
That game last week looking a lot less impressive now
October 8th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
October 8th, 2011 at 12:47 PM ^
Man, I was rooting for texas a few minutes ago because fozzy whittaker and malcolm brown are fun to watch, but then they ran an ad for the lhn and that just pissed me off for some reason...i hope that shit gets thrown off the air.
October 8th, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
Uh, Purdue--yes that Purdue--is beating them 24-0 in the first quarter. Think Brian was correct when he said it didn't mean much
October 8th, 2011 at 12:54 PM ^
who thought it did?
October 8th, 2011 at 1:07 PM ^
I bet some thought it meant something, even if very little. After this first quarter, clearly it doesn't mean anything.
October 8th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
Start making Rose Bowl plans. Just that it was a lot of fun. I bet the Purdue blog isn't glum about killing the Gophers.
October 8th, 2011 at 2:00 PM ^
I actually started making plans with my friend down in Louisiana for me to come and visit for Michigan's inevitable national championship game this year.
October 8th, 2011 at 1:21 PM ^
Wrote on his post and others that Brian was a Gloomy Gus and that it was a B!0 opponent, etc etc.
October 8th, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
So Oklahoma is pretty damn good. Also with all these talented freshman and such playing this early on and playing fairly well (excluding this week so far) Texas is about to be scary good in a few years.
October 8th, 2011 at 1:13 PM ^
I'm so memorized by their young team. It's amazing. Two freshmen quarterbacks, freshmen running back, freshmen receiver, freshmen cornerback/return man, sophomore defensive end, etc. It's mind bottling.
