Six Zero Oh What a Night Shirt Disappointment

Submitted by mvp on

Did anyone else order the shirt described here?

I LOVE the shirt, but am totally disappointed by the result.  The cool part, in my estimation, is the shadow.  On the shirt, the shadow is too small to really read AND the black almost completely blends into the backround.

What do others think?

[EDIT] To be clear: I LIKE the design of the shirt as shown on-line.  I DON'T LIKE that the actual shirt that arrived in the mail doesn't show up very well.  Trying to get other perspectives on the implementation of the design.

I think Hoke has changed the tide of the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

No dong kick intended.

I love the shirt (and tons of other stuff Six Zero has done).  I don't like that you can hardly see the shadow part of the design.  If I didn't think the design was good, I wouldn't have ordered it.

I'm trying to find out, from other people who ordered and received the actual shirts, if they were similarly disappointed.

I was thinking that probably the best handle I could come up with for my future troll account is "The_Enigmatic_Manny_Bivins"

What do you think?  I mean, I guess the cat's out of the bag now, but my secret's safe with you guys.  Right?

Your not supposed to read the shadow part. It's a graphic element. Your supposed to read the WORDS. Do you talk to people's shadows when they stand next to you?

<br>That being said, I'm sure Six Zero will appreciate the critique as an artist.

...I can barely see the shadow AT ALL on the real product.  That's my point.

I'm wondering if others who have the actual shirt are similarly disappointed.  I tried to make it clear in the original post that I LIKE the design, but not the implementation.

Blue, you're in the zone tonight.  This one made me laugh out loud, causing my wife to explain to her what was so funny.  Of course, the humor was lost in translation but you may very well be my favorite poster.

The "shadow" at the bottom does not contrast much at all against the background of the navy shirt.  If the shirt was a royal blue it would have worked out better.  I'm not overly thrilled either, but I bought one for myself and one for brother as a gift since we went to the game.  Either way, it's a way to remember the night.

I like mine. I know what you're saying but after you wash it a few times the shadow is a little more obvious. Wish I would have got it a size bigger though. Apparently alcohol makes my stomach muscle grow.

MVP, sorry to hear that you're not happy with your finished shirt.

To be honest I've never actually seen one of the products in person.  I should also say that I do have absolute faith in the printers and their ability to carry out my layouts onto the finished apparel.

The black was indeed designed to be subtle and secondary to the design itself.  Perhaps the navy shirt is much darker than the background I laid it out on?  Not sure-- but personally I'm happy to hear that you can barely see it on the shirt in person.  That is by design.

If you want, I can forward your concerns to the proprietors of the MGoStore.  I think I speak for everyone involved when I say that the last thing I want to hear is that you're not satisfied with your MGoShirt.  But I will speak for myself and say that it sounds like the shirt you got is pretty much the way I envisioned it when it was created.

Thanks for the patronage, man.  GO BLUE.

In other news, MICHIGAN FERGODSAKES?  Wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that one.

Well, like I said in another response -- I have no plans to return it.

I understand about the desire for subtlety, that's part of why I thought the design was so cool. The color combo is SO subtle that you almost can't see it at all.  When I first opened the box, I thought it was a printing error.  If the intent was really for it to be that subdued, then you got it just right!  The contrast, however, is different than what I expected.  My original post wasn't clear enough (as indicated by the responses) -- my dissapointment is with the printing of the shirt and not the design itself.

If you're interested, send me your email address to mvpgoblue [at] gmail [dot] com and I'll take a picture of it and email it to you.  Then you can evaluate.

loves you too, but is also disappointed with you.

These relationships are a two-way street. The shirt understands your "shadow" problems - but really - when are you going to wash the shirt? And your relationship with the UM polo. Shirt understands that you made no commitment, but shirt thought we had something special.

RIIGGGGGHTTTT. Look people, this wasn't some content that was posted for free, this was a product, for SALE, at a premium price.  It should be subject to scrutiny. $30 for a badly made t-shirt is not cause for "thank you, may I have another".

The OP is completely right...the shadow isn't "subtle", it completely blends into the background. I held it up to the light, and you could barely see it. It's not a strong black, and the the shirt is WAY darker than the design picture. If I had known there's be a thread, I'd have uploaded a picture of it. Maybe later if it hasn't been done yet.   The whole point of the shadowing is to give it a kind of cool 3-D effect. Now, only seeing the top, it looks like it was printed at an incorrect angle.

And that original post was made on 9/13.  Ordered that day. And I'm guessing the reason this was posted now was, like me, he just got the shirt.  It came in a box like 5 sizes too big, but UPS (looked express) 15 days later. $9 for shipping a T-shirt and it takes 2 weeks to get there? How much "handling" is going on with that shirt?

I like SixZero's designs a lot, but I'm done with Underground Printing. Since they've acquired Moe's it seems they've bitten off more than they can chew, or something. They jacked their prices to silly levels, their shipping is outright theft, an of the 4 times I've ordered from them I've had problems 3 times. Can't justify $30 for a tshirt when the service you're getting with it is crap. (Like that's ever justified).
