Music suggestions
So, I have been going to Michigan games for a bit over three decades. I like tradition but am amenable to change, including the Rawk music blaring in the stadium. Rather than be a naysayer, I'd like to make the thing better. Here are some thoughts:
1. Use volume more effectively. Not everything needs to be played at eleven.
2. I like hearing the band - today was pretty good that way. Especially percussion section.
3. No Rawk music at all when the team is coming on the field. Not even a peep. Just hear Brady Hoke say "This is Michigan for godsakes", then the team runs on the field to the band playing.
Okay, with that said, now comes the part for audience participation: music selection. What would people actually want to hear? I think the following should make the cut:
1. Seven Nation Army - just because it was awesome during the ND game and the White Stripes came from Detroit.
2. Howlin' for you (The Black Keys) - because the chant would be cool in the stadium and I don't know anyone else using it yet.
3. Rocky & Bullwinkle (The Michigan Marching Band) - Yes, I like the Blues Brothers thing, but I grew up making moose ears at the stadium
What thinks the Board?

But Sweet Caroline has got to go. I know it's a sing a long thing but enough already. Getting use to Pop Evil. Have to admit that I saw tons of people my age (62) and older tapping feet and bobbin heads at the night game.

The title of that song is what Brian Kelly shouts at his quarterbacks, opposing fans, ND fans, opposing coaches, his coaches, everyone really...

No seven nation army. Ever. For ANYONE. Been done ad nauseum by everyone, and embraced particularly by PSU, who some alums, I'm convinced, think this is their official fight song.

Neil Diamond ... where did that come from

...ever. They played it during the night game warm-ups and it noticeably took energy out of some of the team. I understand it's popular, but it's just not something you play before or during a football game.

Really?!?!

As long as they don't play Hells Bells on every single third down, I'm fine with it.
That's just like, SO mainstream, yo.

Seven Nation Army looked sick on tv

Its annoying at OSU games, but I wish we did something similar to OSU on 3rd down. Some song intro with the score board telling the crowd to get loud.

If the band's not from Michigan, they don't get played, IMO. That gives us plenty to work with.

Love the MMB additions of "Sledgehammer" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from the 80s show to start the year, to the repitore this year. "Sledgehammer" feels very good on defense.

Everbody has different tastes so nobody will ever be completely satisfied. It really is a no-win job. I try to just accept it, HOWEVA, I get sick of the cliches. If I wanted to hear "don't stop believin" and "sweet caroline" I would go to a bar.
My biggest gripe is timing. I will never forget losing and hearing "Apache." Why in the hell would I want to "jump on it, jump on it." when we are LOSING?

It's crazy to think about how the overall game atmosphere has changed, even since I went to school in the early 90's. I remember the incessant drone of the airplanes with their advertising banners throughout the entire game (mostly Deja Vu and other gentlemen's clubs). Also, if the band wasn't playing, you either had fans with their cowbells, or silence. IME, the current gameday atmosphere just reflects on how the athletic department is catering to the ADHD demographic.
In a somewhat related note, it's interesting to observe how Notre Dame's stadium resembles UM's from 10 years ago, with the tiny pressbox and minimalist scoreboards...

Guess I'm officially over the hill :) darn kids and thier rock n' roll. Actually I don't mind it much but I agree with some that it diminishes the band to a certain extent.
They could take the sound volume down a notch. Not a lot but I think it's more than loud enough. My ears were ringing after the ND game.
